Game certainly has changed.
Agreed. Very poor on many levels.

I hope Eddie has a strategy.

You'd like to think he has, but for the life of me I can't see what it is .
Looking at boxing generally it's so poor , does the blame for this lie at covid's door ? because that's when it all seemed to start unraveling or maybe it's the cyclical thing with no big names on the scene at the moment apart from the obvious in the UK .

Oh, your so harsh Mick.
The O2 is half full
And Canelo was always going to flit between whoever provides the hardest suction on his freckled knob, you know that.

Yeh he never really had Canelo.. his DAZN fights were with guys that’s are also on DAZN or network free.

Now he’s fighting a guy that’s linked to PBC, he’s bound to fight on Sho or FOX.

Canelo signed a 2 fight deal with Matchroom/DAZN to do the Yildrim and Billy Joe fights.

He’s now fighting on a PBC show to try and get the final belt and it seems DAZN were never in the running for that.

Canelo seems to have a soft spot for Eddie though so will be interesting to see where he goes after that. No doubt Eddie will be with him later on this week with their matching D&G pyjamas.

And Eddie has taken three fighters of his own to box him and still spent the week kissing his arse.

I'm not sure people wanted the card cancelled. I think they just wanted a better card all along. This, like a growing amount of UK cards, simply couldn't survive the main event falling away and became a shitshow.

And the problem, unless you are one of the very few people who just subscribed to Sky Sports to watch Matchroom Boxing, is that the paper thin DAZN boxing schedule is now £7.99 a month. And please do not compare that to any other price, unless it is the price of a pure boxing channel.

Whilst the future for DAZN in the UK may be healthy enough if they conclude the BT takeover deal (and we'll see how the DAZN story plays out worldwide over the next year or so), that would simply push up the price for those folk just mentioned.

The move to DAZN has been botched so far by Matchroom, no doubt about it. It was meant to be game changing, building stars, raising profile of British Boxing to a whole new level, replicating the WWE Network, etc etc. and it couldn't be further from that.

But instead it is reliant on a tiny number of stars in underwhelming fights, bringing out repeats of stinking PPVs to show that 'you don't need PPV', and using a mountain of spin to show how well things are going.

And its not competitive either. Cameron dominant 1/25 before. Savannah Marshall 1/100. Empty arena tonight for a main event. Whether you have daughters is irrelevant really.

What we have now is the feminisation of society, where male spaces are being taken over and even replaced by women. Its everywhere now and boxing was one of the last bastions free from anything feminist or PC. Make no mistake, its happening women are being handed undeserved roles and fights in this sport. I've been sounding the alarm on this quite a while, we are witnessing a decline in boxing in the name of diversity.
I agree wholeheartedly with this.

What we’re seeing is a general dumbing down under the guise of equal opportunities.

Started with Anna on Sky, totty with a pair of glasses on to give her a journalistic image. Not bad but not very clued up and a big step backwards from previous presenters. Then BT sport with the token female, a squeaky voiced pretty young girl asking inane questions to gruff fighting men - almost like a parody comedy sketch of a sports show. And then we go a stage further Maya Jama on DAZN - basically a stripper with clothes on.

Where does it all end up ? Who do the broadcasters think they’re attracting by hiring these women ? I know one or two girls who train at am gyms and who are mad into boxing - they don’t want know nothing bimbos on screen talking about boxing and nor do they wanna see shite women boxers in rubbish fights.

I think if the main event had held firm then people would have been reasonably happy with the show. It would have been on Sky then it would have been on PPV.

Given the money they would have originally spent on the main event I get why the undercard wasn’t as strong as it was for say the Liverpool show we had recently. I agree though the show was soft without the main event.

I wouldn’t go so far as to call it a shitshow (I enjoyed it more than I thought I would, it’s a better show for me the next couple on BT and it’s no worse than the first 2 shows on Sky) although it was the worst show on DAZN so far.

I think Eddie’s problem is that he massively oversells things. The Game Changed stuff may look good on a press release but he’s yet to give us a PpV worthy show. The bulk of his shows have been good but there’s been no wow fight yet which he’ll need to stop people being restless. Parker/Chisora regardless of what he says isn’t it.

I agree the move of the U.K. stuff to DAZN has been botched by Matchroom but I was also expecting some sort of deal on one of the linear channels to help push DAZN/the boxing. That hasn’t happened and at the same time Sky are really pushing boxing with the amount of airtime they’re giving their shows and amount of money they’re spending advertising their shows on social.

All of a sudden Matchroom isn’t the obvious choice for fighters to sign to. Eddie can push all he wants on IFL etc. but to make the fighters stars he needs a bigger platform to be shouting from and he/DAZN haven’t delivered that yet.

As someone who loves boxing I’m happy that I’m getting £16 of value in the next 2 months of DAZN but as it stands that’s mainly for the Lopez and potential Haney shows as much as the U.K. shows. The average U.K. sports fan won’t have a clue who either of them are.

I just wish BT/Boxxer would have done more to put on good fights themselves.

I cancelled my DAZN a few months back because it wasn't good enough to warrant the money. Realistically one or two fights (not fight cards) I found worth watching per month.
Now if the fight is good, or turns out to be good I just wait until it is on YouTube and see it then.

I'll give Boxxer/Sky plenty of time. They've had to come from a standing start. The Top Rank tie up was nice in giving access to some quality fights. Match it with some improved cards over the next year and I won't complain. I really like the way they are pushing it on Sky and also the shorter cards and earlier main events.

BT/Queensberry is so disappointing - a real gap in the market, but they just do not help themselves with the way the shows are structured with almost zero thought for the TV punter. But again, no one is paying for BT to watch the boxing.

I'm sure the fights were uploaded really quick on Saturday night , almost seemed like 2 hours after the actual event took place , don't think I've ever seen that done so quickly before .

I can get Boxxer a bit of slack re: not having big fights on their shows but I can’t justify their bad matchmaking. The 3 Eubank potential opponents were all as bad as each other, the lady who fought Marshall was massively out of he depth and their late November show seemingly has one competitive fight on there (the Burton/Azeez fight which is a good one). The Marku fight is poor as well as the main event with Riakporhe. I like they’re keeping Riakporhe active but he’ll be stopping the guy inside a few rounds.

You’re right - no one pays for BT just for the boxing. I watch all the UFC, a few documentaries and the occasional premier league game in addition to the boxing. It’s as though all they’re interested in is PPV now though. They’ve got a prospects show next week - it’s like a small hall show of local lads fighting journeymen - whilst I’ll probably record it and watch at some point it’s amazing that it’s been ok’d by BT for them to pay for it.

Yep, I think the longest I've had to wait before I can view a fight has been 4 days since I quit DAZN in end of August. And I'm fine with that. I already have sky sport for other things as well as boxing, and if there
is a really good PPV I'll get that too, but it is rare- Fury Wilder 3 being the last one probably for the year.
If the forum goes off on a fight, then I go and retrospectively watch it. I still go back and watch past fights anyway when upcoming fights have common opponents etc

British Boxing is now 3 bald men fighting over a comb.

What we need is less promoters and broadcasters and to get as close to the UFC model as possible.

It won't happen of course. And various promotions are popping up, when you dig into certain promotional outfits it's hard not to see mass money laundering at play.

All in the name of some woke virtue signalling, and given how we don't even get competitive male fights or the best fighting the best, its even worse we get this rammed down our throats.

The women presenters are there to tick a box really and also attract the drooling casuals who fawn over anything with a pair of breasts.

If the you look at the female presenters social media, it's a swarm of creepy men in slobbering mode. It's fuckin pathetic but it's amazing how many men engage in such stuff.

I am not convinced that there are that many creepy guys out there who have not got access to more effective porn than some fit ring card girl who they now allow to speak to the boxers.

It's a blend of modern day sex equality and promoters selling rubbish because people still buying it.

If these women boxers are selling loads of tickets, then I guess that makes it a dilemma of sorts balancing ticket sales with viewer satisfaction.

I admit I have not watched much women boxing - typically just a few rounds on YouTube when a particular female boxer gets good reviews.
And I have yet to see a female boxer better than your typical male novice boxer .. let's be 100% honest: Campbell Hatton would be good enough to be a multi weight undisputed world's champion right now if he were a she.
