Matchroom 11th/18th December
Matchroom 11th/18th December
Help me out sisters.
Long story short… had a dispute with Matchroom and their offer to me is free vip tickets to the Liverpool, Manchester or Sheffield (no chance) show.
Both have no real announcements to undercard, ect, but I need to pick by tomorrow.
What show would you go to given then chance with free tix?
And where do vip tickets get you sat?

I’d probably go to Liverpool. I think the quality of the shows will be similar but I’d prefer to see Benn than the Chisora/Parker rematch.Dioufy wrote: ↑03 Nov 2021, 15:40 Help me out sisters.

I’ve done VIP at Liverpool before. We were sat probably 5 rows back and I was next to Anthony Fowler who was still an amateur at the time. There was a little bar area that had free warm beers and canapés but you couldn’t take those beers to your seats so I didn’t spend long there.
The other thing that I usually enjoy is that you’ll probably get to meet a few of the fighters. Either some that fight or some that have been given tickets by Matchroom.
Out of interest what caused them to give you the freebies?!

Got put in the wrong place to what I booked for Joshua/Usyk.

I don’t what the price difference was on the tickets you booked vs those you got but it sounds like you got a decent deal.
I had VIP tickets once for a Prizefighter in Wolverhampton (they cost £100 so expensive for a show at the Wolverhampton Civic but nothing too crazy). I had a mutual mate of Kell Brook so got chatting to him and Darren Barker a fair bit before the boxing started in the VIP bar. As we going back to our seats my mate asked for a photo of the 4 us and a random looking guy joined on the end. My mate said ‘Sorry pal….do you mind if we get a photo just of the 4 of us’ so the guy left and went down to his seat. The guy was Eddie Hearn - my mate and I still laugh about it.

If John Ryder vs Bivol ends up on Manchester show it's a better card for me. Big if mind.
Its hard to say tbh. I also like Del Boy too.

So Eddie is at the old FW trick.... I remember nobody on here didn't win tickets to his shows when they were selling poorly. I got VIP for Smith-Williams

No - Adil Anwar won it. Think he beat Nurse in the final.garethhop wrote: ↑03 Nov 2021, 19:26Was that the welterweights that Glenn Foot won?maverick23 wrote: ↑03 Nov 2021, 16:42I don’t what the price difference was on the tickets you booked vs those you got but it sounds like you got a decent deal.

He’s not quite papering the crowd like Frank used to. Giving away a couple of freebies through customer service isn’t quite the same as the ‘everyone’s a winner’ competitions Frank used to do where he gave away hundreds if not thousands of tickets.mickey1975 wrote: ↑03 Nov 2021, 19:59 So Eddie is at the old FW trick.... When (I’m not sure if they still are) Matchroom used to work with JD sports and wanted to boost the attendance they used to give away tickets to people who spent more than a certain amount in the local store. They’ll probably need to do similar for the Sheffield and Manchester shows.

Sheffield will not do well.
Re: Matchroom 11th/18th December
Go and have a look at the tickets - https://www.ticketmaster.co.uk/world-ch ... 48A3E01D99
Already set up for perhaps 50% capacity, look like other than the blocks of tickets that have been given to the boxers, barely any have been sold 9 days out.
Matchroom are excellent in filling with comps and making it look decently attended however. Streets ahead of any other boxing promoters on that front.

Whatever is advertised now will probably bear no relation to what happens on the night if recent shows are any example

I don't think Galahad sells tickets or is well liked. Tbh I rate Barry and don't mind him but it's a poor opponent in Kiko. Billam Smith opponent poor too.

Re: Matchroom 11th/18th December
I don’t usually find Matchroom too bad to be honest. The Liverpool show held up well but last week’s was in trouble as the main event was the only fight on the show that people were really looking forward to.peter barlow wrote: ↑04 Nov 2021, 07:43True, hard to get excited until the day before and we know it's happening.
Compared to others like Boxxer who’ve lost fights in the days before the show on their first 2 shows and Frank W who cancelled a show a few days out with Sunny Edwards and this Saturday’s show has 2 of the 5 main names on the original poster actually fighting I don’t think Matchroom are the worst.
