Re: Gene Tunney versus 1990's George Foreman
Intriguing fight, but if Tommy Morrison could outbox George Foreman I have little doubt that Gene Tunney would do the same thing. It took Foreman eight rounds to put away Dwight Qawi who was much shorter than Gene, etc so I can see him being able to outbox George Foreman.
However, it ought to be said that Tunney did avoid having a match with George Godfrey who was very much like George Foreman. One of Ring Magazine's Top 100 Punchers of All Time, the man was enormous for the time.
Standing roughly 6'3"-6'4" and weighing anywhere between 220 and 265+ pounds, he was Formanesque in style. But he was outboxed by men like Jack Sharkey and I figure maybe if Sharkey could do it so could Tunney.
But Tunney never did fight anyone over 200 pounds. And the vast majority of men he competed against he saw eye to eye with or look down against. So it's a wild card.

Actually, Tunney is a far from easy matchup even for the prime Foreman, leave alone the 90s version. A boxer like Tunney would be too agile and fast for the old George. It would be a Morrison-like win for Gene.
