Gonzalez could outbox someone like Valuev pretty handily.

It might've been more interesting than people would assume. Gonzalez was a large guy but he did fight Mike "The Giant" White who was 6'10" and 280 pounds, and stopped him in 4 rounds when the year prior White went the distance with Michael Moorer.

That being said, Gonzalez had stamina issues (imho) because prior to the Bowe fight he had 23 fights and only had 67 rounds under his belt. He went eight rounds or longer only three times.

Following the Bowe fight he was stopped by Witherspoon, Purrity, Grant and lost a decision to Paea Wolfgramm (1996-1998) and was never taken seriously again.

Valuev was not just a big guy who could go ten or twelve rounds routinely, but never was dropped in his entire career. The only time he showed the slightest bit of vulnerability was in the very last round of his very last fight with David Haye.

I don't think Gonzalez could hurt him, and the longer the match goes the more I think the Cuban heavyweight begins to tire out, and Valuev starts piling on points--- the first six or eight rounds would be probably for Gonzalez, but I figure Valuev manages to drop him sometime in the next four rounds and we end up with a draw or split decision for the Russian giant, or he manages to score a technical knockout stoppage in those championship rounds.

Either Valuev punished Gonzalez behind his jabs and punches from long range to take a decision or stop him late.

Jorge would probably win if it was the pre vs Bowe version of Jorge.
He was never the same after that devastating KO Loss.
He became worse and worse with each meaningless bout from that point onwards.
The KO Loss vs Witherspoon was really the true beginning of the end for poor Jorge.
I couldn't understand why he continued onwards, making a human punching bag out of himself.
But yeah, only the pre vs Bowe version of Gonzales would likely win vs Valuev. And probably only barely at that.
