Arguello & Mayweather at 130 lbs
Who was the better of the two at super feather based on opposition faced and style matchup
Re: Arguello & Mayweather at 130 lbs
Nice question. In a style matchup, I'd take Floyd-hands down- over Arguello. I think Diego Corrales beats anyone that Arguello beat at 130. I'd probably take Genaro Hernandez over Arguello's best 130 pound opponents; he'd be too big for the likes of Chacon, Limon, Escalera, etc. As for Angel Manfredy, it's a tough call with how he does-in my view- against say Chacon and Escalera, but I tend to think he'd lose to them.
Overall, I enjoyed the 130 pounders of Arguello's era more because there were some great bouts with that group.

I agree Floyd would handle Alexis, disagree corrales and Genaro were better than escalera Limon and bobby.

Jr. Lightweight was Arguello's best division and he never lost at that weight despite facing all-time competition. At 130 FMJ was more of a risk-taker and more offensive, he had yet to perfect his defensive mastery that in the second half of his career allowed him to win rounds while only doing the most minimal work offensively. I'd reserve final judgment until I could study more of Floyd at 130, but from what I've seen, I'd say Pretty Boy could get caught, hurt and stopped or decisioned by Alexis at that weight.

Arguello faced better competition, but Floyd's style would be a bad bad matchup for Arguello so I'd favor Floyd.
