Viddal Riley returns to the ring with Sky Sports Boxing and BOXXER

Ben Shalom: "The sky's the limit for Viddal - he has a huge following, an infectious personality and, most importantly, the ability to go to the top of the sport"

Viddal Riley has signed an exclusive long-term promotional agreement with Sky Sports Boxing and BOXXER.

A former Team GB member who represented Britain at the 2014 Nanjing Youth Olympics and still undefeated as a professional, Riley has an enormous following thanks to his second career as a digital content producer and social media influencer.

Between his YouTube, Twitter and Instagram channels, over two million fans have followed Riley’s journey from amateur standout to professional prospect and will now see him take his career to the next level on Sky Sports.

Riley started boxing at the age of six and went 41-8 with 19 wins by KO during an amateur career which featured a European junior silver medal and a win over Daniel Dubois as well as the 2014 Youth Olympics appearance.

He is also known as the trainer of YouTube sensation and super-influencer KSI, having trained him for both of his bouts with Logan Paul as well as his showdown with domestic rival Joe Weller.

Riley said: “Been a long time people, but I’m back! Pleased to announce that I’ve inked a deal with BOXXER to fight exclusively on Sky Sports. Can’t wait to lace up my gloves - stay tuned for updates!”

Ben Shalom, founder and CEO of BOXXER, said: “We’re extremely excited to announce the signing of one of the most highly-rated prospects in British boxing and we are looking forward to being part of his incredible journey.

“The sky's the limit for Viddal - he has a huge following, an infectious personality and, most importantly, the ability to go to the top of the sport.”

Adam Smith, Sky Sports' head of boxing development, said: "Viddal Riley is another hugely exciting addition to the growing BOXXER stable - and we cannot wait to see him back in action, live on Sky Sports.

"We've recently welcomed Viddal onto the Sky Sports team, in his new role as a social media presenter, as we continue our dynamic new generation of boxing events.

"Now it's time for Viddal to resume his unbeaten boxing career and we cannot wait to follow that enthralling journey on Sky Sports."

News of Riley’s debut under the BOXXER banner will be announced in the near future and will be a personal landmark for Riley, being his first time fighting professionally in his home country - his professional bouts to date have taken place in the USA, Dubai and Mexico.

I skimmed the article. I can’t work out if he’s a boxer or a social media star

Seen this kid about 15 year ago he boxed for West Ham . He was the best kid I’d ever seen box. He was that good on the night that I always remembered the name.

One of the top amateurs at his weight in the country in 2016/17 .. beat Chris Billam Smith who was decent amateur himself.

Interesting to see how he has improved over the last 4 years

This could low-key be a huge deal if he's as good now as he was in the past.

The problem is there’s nothing low key about him. When someone like Billam-Smith was getting better Viddal was spending time on YouTube, making music, building his social presence and coming out with a clothing brand.

Now that’s great from a notoriety perspective but inactivity isn’t great at all for his boxing.

He was with Mayweather promotions, definitely been a stop start career.

He should be way further down the road in his pro career than he is, might have stalled too much. Time will tell. Looked to lack a punch in the last fight and that's all i have seen of him.

Will be interesting to see if he can enter the mix.

Savannah Marshall signed with Mayweather Promotions too, she was on the May-Mac undercard and that’s it.. stalled.

He was an excellent amateur but I do wonder where his priorities are given the time he’s dedicated on other things.
