It holds 13,500 doesn't it? If they can't even do 5k thats really poor.

But then the card is woeful. Throw in Covid pass, usual expensive tickets. It seems people are voting with their feet finally.

They haven't even got around to having DAZN in pubs yet..

5,000 isn’t bad for a show - particularly one where non of the fighters have history of selling decent volumes for a show (bar Harper).

Have there been many/any U.K. non-Matchroom shows that have sold 5,000 tickets this year?

It’s clearly not a strong card compared to say the Liverpool show or planned Manchester show. It’s still a hell of a lot better than the recent BT shows and, with the exception of the class Prizefighter on Saturday, Boxxer’s shows.

If you want woeful then check out BT’s show this Friday night.

In the US, 5k is decent for a normal title fight.

Loma used to sell out that many at Hulu and some Vegas venues.

Well that BT show is a Next Gen type one tbf. But I don't disagree re BT shows. Matchroom should be judged compared to their own previous shows or TR and PBC shows.

It's clear they're a level above FW and Boxxer, so should be held to a higher standard especially since the DAZN move and subscription + game changed stuff. It's a poor card by that metric. I'd expect Galahad to stop Martinez via accumulation. Billam Smith fight is meh.

This card could've been saved from eternal damnation had Kid actually been given a proper opponent. Mauricio Lara, anyone?

Galahad should beat Kiko easy, but wouldn't be too surprised if he somehow has an off day and Kiko wins a few rounds. 8th round stoppage for Kid.

If Boxing fans stopped saying to each other 'Yep it's crap but that one's crapper' we might get something better served up.

Lara was repeatedly headbutted a few weeks ago and suffered a really bad cut.
4 others were offered the fight before Kiko.

I’m not quite sure how.

The only way we might get something better is for people to not watch and not pay to go the shows.

Unfortunately as a boxing hardcore I’ll almost always watch pretty much everything. DAZN shows, BT, ch5 and Sky. I’ll even probably watch the BT NextGen show on Friday night at some point.

Lara has a cut that you could push a baby out of, the fact that he’s not made much money in his career and lives in villages suggests no plastic surgery. We won’t see him for another 6 months minimum.

Should’ve been Leigh “rate my WBA shit” Wood vs Barry.

But no doubt one of those wasn't the matchroom promoters fighter who "beat" Martinez in his last fight - Eddie wouldn't want to risk Barrett which sums up the state of UK boxing. Eddie has openly said he wanted a bit of a "homecoming" (e.g. easy) fight for Galahad. Why? The guy isn't a novice learning his trade - he doesn't need a mark time fight.

Who were the 4 then. My guess lowe and Gill neither close to deserving a world title shot. Wood who has other options with the wba. Who was the 4th.

Apparently none of the top 15 were available for this fight (plus a "Warrior" who isn't ranked)

Is that how they sneaked a old kiko into the top 15 for a easy night then. .lmao then lowe (ranked) and the number 4 can't remember his name go to purse bids for a final eliminator but turned down a straight shot at the champ. Have a day off hearn has picked a easy defence for your boy. Not seen one positive post anywhere saying its a good fight.

You said about 18 months ago he would never fight Barry again.
Instead he quit his belt to get KTFO by an unknown Mexican in front of no crowd.

Its a shame Barry didn't take the chance to do what lara did when he had the chance. Then everything else would have been irrelevant.

There are a couple of decent looking fights that may well be on YouTube….

Flint/Hunt for the Central light welter belt. Both unbeaten but I think Hunt wins a fairly wide one on points.

Donte Dixon/Jordan McCorry - good fight for Donte who looked sharp in his last few fights. Perfect step up fight for him.

Will be more like 5.30/6pm.

One of the fights might make the main show.
