Eddies new signing , smoother talkers than Eddie you just don't get,, the guys a master salesman

Also a good reason why Fathers should stay out of it , especielly American fathers who love the razz ma tazz , and start believing its all about them ,, Took home 600,ooo to fight Lomo ,, and still not had any multi million paydays , , Guy seriousl needs a good manager , dad to take a step back , maybee Hearn is the man for him

Arum was asked later that day whether he’d spoken to Eddie about seeing whether Joshua would bypass Usyk and let Fury fight him as Arum said it was the smart thing to do. Arum just responded with ‘F**k Eddie Hearn’ and then went on to criticise him.

It’s interviews like this that’ll get Bob raging when he’s being pally with one of Bob’s top fighters.

He ( Eddie ) certainly seems to get under there skin does'nt he ,,, I was very suprised when Lopez let it slip , he only got 600 grand for the lomo fight , not a lot when thats your only income and you have people to pay ,, lots of travel to keep yourself relevent , he said he lives on a budget , at where he is i would of expected him to be pulling a lot more money ,,, hopefully the next fight sets him up for life , Love to see fighters get big money ,,, its actually a fight i'm looking forward too , I think it will be entertaining while it lasts .

As much as we all like to take the piss out of Eddie. There are a few things to note.

He is already a very rich man.

He is loyal to those loyal to him.

He won’t rip you off. You will always be paid, on time!

If you can do good business, he will make you comfortable for life, and very relevant. It doesn’t matter what level you are, it’s business is good for all, it will be done. See Dave Allen for proof.

How many of Eddies ex fighters are now household name pundits, still earning a crust on the back of Matchroom, or now DAZN?

Someone tell me otherwise please? He is the best promoter in the business right now. Fact!

There is a bit more to that story though?
Obviously a lot happened behind closed doors and contracts.
But from what I read, Jonas bottled the Taylor rematch, even though she was offered "a lot more" than the first fight, even though she lost. Which seems like an unusually good deal.
Very rare.
Eddie didn't have any other relevant fights for Jonas, since she had no title and coming off a loss, there wasn't the sort of money she was asking for available.
“No (it won’t be Natasha Jonas), we offered Natasha Jonas that fight for much more money than she got in the first fight but she didn’t want to take that fight so it won’t be Natasha Jonas,” Hearn said.
That's just Eddie's side of things. :maybe:
So she changed promoters. And with that came the Sky commentary work, which is smart, given her age and future fight prospects when Taylor holds all the trinkets.
I haven't read that she didn't get paid or anything, so what am I missing Mick?

He didn’t do too badly for her.

She lost, and was stopped, against her first opponent with a winning record and has only beaten one fighter with a winning record.

In her 4th fight after losing she headlined a Sky show for a world title and then fought Katie Taylor in a PPV co-main.

He looks like he’s aged 15 years in the last 18 months. He’s still got a few other fighters but certainly this is the weakest stable he’s had in 10 at least.

Yeah - probably can - particularly with regards to the U.K.

U.K. boxing is in a bit of a transition period at the moment and I don’t remember a time when there were so few few weak world champs.

Partly Eddie's fault, although perhaps more behind the scenes than we know, but he moves his fights on slowly. How many "this is the big test" type fights do we need to see his prospects take on....only for a "this is the big test" to happen in the next fight. Eddie has been preaching about Benn vs Khan, now we have Benn vs a semi retired non puncher who lost decisively to Khan years ago as the "big test". He wont be ready for Avanysyan until late 2022 st this rate, even if he beats him... I reckon it was be at least 2 final super duper eliminators in 2023 before a world shot

Same with Buatsi....his last fight was supposed to tell if hes workd level, but now it's this one will really tell us. Eddie's new two loses and your out policy is also making him scared to get his cash cows to step up and he is scared of the zero going

I think he’s been soft matchmaking certain fighters but I don’t have an issue with how Benn or Buatsi have been matched recently.

Benn had very limited amateur experience, looked fairly crap early doors but has fought gradually better opposition in his last 4 fights. Formella, Vargas, Granados and Algeiri are step up fights each time (although small ones). Compared to someone like Boots Ennis, who albeit was fighting more regularly, he’s arguably fighting better opposition in his 17th/18th/19th/20th fights than Boots was and Boots had a lot more amateur experience.

The problem Eddie’s created is that he’s promoting him too hard almost and Conor’s doing the same by dropping names like Porter, Khan, Broner.

Buatsi’s matchmaking was poor but his last fight and this upcoming one are really good for me. Yes they’re not for world titles but still really good fights.

The only real criticism of Eddie when compared with other current promoters is that he doesn't get some guys fighting frequently enough because he has too few shows spread across the US and UK. There are often a lot of guys that are forgotten and inactive but it's not clear whether it's their decision or because Eddie's too busy for them.

Yep - that would be my biggest criticism too. Certain fighters are active whilst there are others that, for no obvious reason, simply aren’t.

A top amateur has an interesting choice to make now when turning over. A year ago Matchroom would have been the only choice but now Matchroom are cramming their shows as there’s fewer so you’d potentially be featured quite low on the show.

Sky/Boxxer have very fighters so can easily push a prospect like they’re doing with Caroline Dubois and BT stack their main shows with one sided fights so a top amateur would feature highly on their shows too.

I don't have a problem with fighters being brought along slow , what i find annoying is there being hand fed brought along slow ,, BUT then telling us there the real deal , bragging about the money ect ect .

Conor Benn being perfect example , Ok he did'nt have a ameteur record so to speak ,, so on one hand its understandable he's brought along slow , and too be fair he's actually doing OK ,,, Its the constant IFL dribel . bollocks and bullshit ,, which could be stopped by Eddie ,, if Hearn was to say pack it in go easy on the interviews , Benn and IFL would do has there told ,

But Hearn encourages everything he wnts the pubicity he wants the views in u tube , he wants to promote Benn has a star , so you can't have it both ways ,, he's either a novice learning his trade and doing quite well or he's the star , which is it , because people are paying there hard earned dollars for boxing shows and ppv's .... If he's the novice just shut the foooook up and let him learn , keep his bragging mouth of u tube and wait till he's ready ,, or if he's the star , LET HIM FIGHT A 50 -50

I agree, but agree with the part I have bolded - that for me is the problem. Eddie is promoting them as "main event" names but also realises they aren't there yet - so he keeps "conning" the fans with the - "last one before the big one".

I would personally disagree (although it is close) between Ennis' last few opponents and Benn's - I think Ennis' are a little fresher but nothing in it. However, the key difference - is I had to do a search to find out who Boots Ennis was - his fights aren't being hyped as main events - they are undercard fights. He's not being hyped as the next big thing and his promoter isn't saying "one more fight and its the big one" hyping his opponents as world class and then saying he is not ready for Avanysyan.

Let the British fans see geniune world class in main events and let the likes of Benn fight these guys as chief support - learn the trade (if Eddie thinks he needs too) without all the hype and the promises of "next time it will be the bigger one" then it turns to "next time it will be the even bigger one". Dillion White was actually already WBC Mandatory when he headlined his first BIG show. Whilst I am not saying Dillion has been perefectly managed - I think he should have taken the Joshua rematch at around the time of the Rivas fight - I think he was beautifully managed up until he became a star in his own right. His high profile fights were in high profile undercards - but Benn is fighting good solid undercard fights but not just as "main events" but "main events in big shows".

I have absolutely no problem with how Campbell Hatton is being managed. Yes, he is on big shows, yes he is getting TV time when he is not really ready, but also it is "down the bill" on these big cards.

Its the same for Buatsi - I am just getting fed up of - "one more before the big one" and all the hype. He won't be ever more ready to fight the likes of Joe Smith Jnr as he is now. The light heavyweight division isn't great shakes - He was an experienced amateur who has now been in the pro ring 6 years - when is he ever going to be ready.... I know "next time".

My worry is with DAZN and the global market - we will just get stars in their own country with relatively low(ish) risk fights. Why risk Benn, Buatsi, Cordina etc if they can bring in good numbers, why risk the Italian champion if he can bring in good numbers in Italy.

I would love to see something like - Daniel Jacobs vs John Ryder in the UK as a geniune main with Connor Benn vs Algeri on the undercard. Having Benn though as some kind of superstar and main eventing these "stacked" shows - and then in the next breathe saying "well we don't want him to run before he can walk".

Exactly my point added to that is the false promises of the "this is the last one before the big one" only for it to be another fight. Its not just Connor and IFL at fault - Eddie is promoting them as main event. Dec 11th has a huge freaking picture of Connor Benn on the poster.

As you say - If these guys are going to be stars, well not just going to be, but are stars - then lets see these big fights. Whether it is just a time element, or just fear or an upset or whatever - Eddie seems to drag his heels - not just in terms of bring on his fighters but also in terms of getting big fights over the line. AJ vs Usyk and CHisora vs Parker 2 - if he would have spent less time negotatiated the "perfect" here and now deals - perhaps those fights would have happened earlier in the year and then Chisora and AJ (in a hypothetical scenario where both won) would have had a second fight of 2021 in December which would have meant more opportunities for British fighters to fight on the Undercard. Instead they are having to main event.
