How Legit is BIBA (British and Irish boxing authority)

Post by gregregegg »

Noticed on a record (Tommy Jacobs 2-0) It said "BBBofC debut for Jacobs" on his second fight Thought it was a bit strange. so then i checked and on his first fight it says "A BIBA (non BBBofC) event"... This makes me assume BBBoC dont recognise BIBA, and it feels like Boxrec is unsure as to weather or not to regonise it by the fact they have left those notes.

Is BIBA legit? have they ever done big cards? have BIBA fights always been recognised?

I remember reading a thread on one of the polish promo companys not being recognised by boxrec. and there was a biggish even in mex a year or 2 ago that all got changed to No contests due to an unrecognised sanctioning body. Makes me question, Who draws the line on whats real and whats now? it seems like its boxrec, which is insane power to yeild, so who in boxrec makes that call?

Just going deeper i checked one of the other fighters on the card, he had a fight on Saturday 29, August 2015 at york hall that had "Malta Boxing Commission" in charge... surely they should be in malta?

always thought BBBoC held all the cards in britan.

It's supposedly ex pros who lost their license and white collar. I believe it was the Malta commission or ran by same guy.

It sounds similar to those "semi pro" leagues etc

Not going down this road again surely. I nearly had a effing mental breakdown last time.

But for what it's worth they let themselves down big time allowing Danny Williams fight Lee McAllister. After that I have paid zero attention.

Other than that I would like to see Sophie Varley turn over to the BBBoC. She's not a world beater by any means but would be better off this side earning a few quid.

BIBA giving a girl from Worksop the big build up Nicola Hopewell , must be some sort of record but been told she’s had 6 fights unbeaten & her opponents don’t have a single win between them ?? If true BIBA is a joke , heard the money is a quarter of standard small hall shows as well ??
