Josh Kelly

Anyone know his promotional situation? He was rumoured to Sky, haven't heard Hearn mention him in months.

Any update on his return? He's only had 1 fight in nearly 2 years the KO loss to Avanesyan. It's all very quiet.

He signed with Boxxer or Wasserman I think. Definitely no longer with Eddie and who knows when he’ll be out again.

Ah okay I wasn't sure that had went through. Very strange Sky have barely mentioned him or his return? Nathan Gorman another we've heard little of.

He had some family issues apparently. He’ll be fighting for the European title in his next fight.

Shame he didn’t capitalise on the momentum he had from his last few fights. Good fighter but far too inactive.

With all the YouTube interviews these days you'd think the promoters would be asking a bit more about the inactive lads. Kalle was probably concentrating on Eubank fight but I'd be interested to know updates on Kelly, Gorman, Hrgovic and Breidis next fights and when etc

4 members of Felix Cash family died in Car Crash - young guys - just before his fight was planned - and he took few weeks out of the ring since.

I think most Youtubers (particularly IFL) don’t ask tough questions because it will limit future interview opportunities.

I haven’t seen anyone ask FW why his fighters are fighting on MTK/Probellum shows (like Frampton did at the start of the year) and I knows he’s refused interviews with certain people because of that.

He had a few cuts last time out as well.
The one on the side of his head, well they always bleed heavily, so who knows how deep it was.

I hope his promotion haven't shelved him, sure he fell short at the European level, but Avanesyan is an exceptionally good Euro champ.
He was ranked with the WBA, but now seems to have dropped off the top #15 :maybe:

Essuman vs Kelly for the British and Commonwealth would be a good fight? If it could be made.

On a welterweight point, anyone heard about McKinson's next fight?

Think I heard Hearn say he's back next year. Would have liked him to fight again this year even if it was just a tick over. The lads an absolute box of tricks.

If Josh Kelly is tight at the weight I'd like to see him up at 154 with a relatively slow rebuild. Keep him well away from Williamson for now.

Yeah too many guys not active enough. Agree he may be better at 154, Big Cheese could be an interesting bout.

I think we've seen the level of Kelly, he promised so much more.

He could well still be in some good domestic bust ups, but the ego has been severely dented along with that of his trainer (whose been in hiding since)

and some of them may even work against opposition above British level, it's yet to be seen.....

personally i think his box of tricks are more like the kind you find in a Poundshop xmas cracker gift set..... all flash and filigree and not much substance and that got shown up very very quickly against half-decent opposition

the ego has been severely dented along with that of his trainer (whose been in hiding since)

ha. maybe Kelly realises that half-arsed attempt at a shoulder roll is a good example of Booth trying to teach a technique that he isn't equipped to teach properly.

When the going got tough and he had a bit of adversity for the 1st time in his career instead of biting down on the gun shield he just seemed to fold. With that being said and him moving to 154 I would like to see an north east Williamson v Kelly scrap for British. Think Williamson wins by ko but a big fight up here.

I was answering peter barlow's question about McKinson with that comment but completely see how you've read it.

Agree on everything you've said about PBK. Lots of work to do.

Did you see him Vs Ray Robinson?
It was a close tough fight, Josh got cut twice during the fight, and he gutted it out. That was the first time he faced adversity.
Avanesyan just plain blasted him out, and proved he is world level and Josh isn't yet.

ava is good euro level, not world

kellys got some good speed and reflexes but doesnt seem strong enough or hard enough to do much beyond british. maybe he should try for a run there and then maybe they can cherry pick a euro title if a weak champ gets it/vacant title, or get him beaten up in a voluntary world title fight or something

he should defo have another go

We will see re: Avanesyan. He is a murderous puncher, and he is way better now than his record shows. I think he can manoeuvre into a #1 contender spot, and either win, or give the reigning champ a heck of a hard night. His body punching is scary. I expect him to be ducked.
