Who is your p4p king?
Who is your p4p king?
For me it's easily Usyk.
-Fought the best possible opponents he could in cruiserweight on their home turf and schooled them , Than he schooled Anthony Joshua (Joshua had probably the best resume in HW division and Usyk made an easy work of him)
-Usyk was not catched for doping.
-Was probably the first Cruiserweight champion who schooled a heavyweight champion.
-Had zero "robbery wins"
-One of the most skilled boxers in recents years with BEAST cardio - HE IS NOT ONE TRICK PONY LIKE GRABOMIR CLINSCHKO OR DEONTAY WILDER
USYK FOR ME!!!
Canelo number 2
Crawford number 3

Re: Who is your p4p king?
Decent argument, but I can’t see Usyk above Canelo yet. I can see him at #2. If he unifies he will definitely go to 1 for me. Easier said than done.

Canelo, nobody else is close. Despite accusations of cherry picking, I can't see another fighter with a resume anywhere near as good.
Usyk will have to beat Fury or dominate at heavyweight for a while to take the crown.

Its a hard choice. Canelo is p4p1 if you see the fights the way his judges do. But what if you see them the way i do? Would canelo still be the overwhelming pick for number 1, if he had a loss and a draw vs GGG? unlikely.
Re: Who is your p4p king?
Canelo. Of course, schooling Anthony Joshua in his home is huge deal. Just like being undisputed and undefeated cruiserweight champion of the world. Usyk beating champs in their homes for years, it is fkin impressive. But still not enough to surpass Canelo in my book.

Re: Who is your p4p king?
If I exclude Usyk from P4P#1 due to a lack of accomplishment. Canelo due to having 3 losses on his record and Crawford for not fighting anyone then who becomes P4P #1?
Temporary Lightweight king Teofimo Lopez.
So Crawford can be excluded all day any day.
Should Canelo be excluded for his 3 losses? For the Mayweather loss no. For the two unavenged GGG losses yes.
What about Usyk? Can he be P4P #1? If he is then Andy Ruiz must also score pretty high on those P4P lists so I don't think so really.
These three must be excluded and fagg0t Spence he doesn't belong on any p4p list so who beside Teo can carry the crown?

Re: Who is your p4p king?
Sounds a little like spilled milk. No room for improvement? So he won a debateable dec 4 yrs ago. GGG won the 1st fight imo and 2nd was a draw. Even if you threw an L on Canelo v GGG, it wouldn’t make him a lesser fighter. The question posed is p4p today, not in 2017. Nobody in the sport has a resume that comes remotely close to Canelo. Canelo today is a vastly improved fighter over 3-4 yrs ago. He cleaned out 167 and would likely be favored over anybody 167-175, including Beterbiev and Bivol. He dared to be great and he succeeded. Whether you like it or not he’s an ATG and current top 3 p4p at worst.gregregegg wrote: ↑11 Nov 2021, 15:08 Its a hard choice. Canelo is p4p1 if you see the fights the way his judges do. What has he done since 2017 that earns him top 20…Romi wrote: ↑11 Nov 2021, 21:11Sounds a little like spilled milk. No room for improvement? So he won a debateable dec 4 yrs ago. Not trying to be spilt milk, just suggesting boxing would not have canelo unanimously number 1 if he went 0-1-1 against GGG, even if the fights were identical and only the scoring was changed. (He would still be high, mabey 1, but it would be far less certain.)

Re: Who is your p4p king?
I don’t discount 2017’s influence. Ummmmm fighters do improve. I give more credibility for what Canelo has done in last 3 yrs than what happened v GGG. Win or lose, both those fights were highly competitive. As I said, he’s a MUCH improved fighter since then. If you’re going to argue that, then you’re simply hating on the guy. He’s having a very similar run at 167 that Pac had at 147.gregregegg wrote: ↑11 Nov 2021, 21:22So your discounting 2017s influence on current p4p but you have crawford in your top 5. You’re seriously going to argue that Crawford doesn’t belong in top 20??? Pure hate. It’s clouding your judgement. Nobody has come remotely close to beating him. We’ll find out soon enough when he fights a very good fighter in Porter. Of course should Crawford prevail, the haters will just say, who the f did Porter ever beat? Crawford is an Exceptional talent. If you or anyone else here wants to deny that, I really don’t give a shyt. Nobody gives a fvck about my opinion or yours, but tell me one single notable trainer, fighter, boxing scribe, commentator, that doesn’t have Crawford at least in their top 10.

Re: Who is your p4p king?
Not saying craw isnt a top fighter, he is. Im saying his recent resume might struggle to be top 20 p4p resumes In the last 5 years. In the last 5 years has craw beat a real top 5 guy? its a tricky question, he has beaten guys with claims to be top 5, but im hardly convinced they ever actualy were. and he was getting guys at the right time.Romi wrote: ↑11 Nov 2021, 22:16I don’t discount 2017’s influence. Julius Indongo is bad... but craw got him when he had somehow got 2 belts so he seemed top 5. i dont think he was ever really a top 5.
Jeff horn isnt great and was never a top 5, but he had just "beat " manny and had a belt so seemed top 5.
Kahn and brook are tallented names but noone considered them top 5 when craw beat them.
The lithuanian was coming of a draw with ray robinson... hardly top 5 materal...
Point isnt that he isnt great, its that he hasnt proved it vs good enough competition for it to be truely conclusive.
Cant imagine a top 5 p4p guy going 5 years in there prime without fighting a universaly recognised top 5 tallent.

Canelo compared to his predecessors:

crawford at the moment
the reality is that canelo has been beaten twice by ggg
ggg record should be 43-0, and as he is still unbeaten should be a legitimate member of the top ten p4p.
amazing how ggg has been airbrushed by the canelo machine, and how the majority of members on this board go along with it. Dont get me wrong...canelo is a great fighter, but he wouldve struggled to go the distance with a prime ggg.

Wonder why Josh Taylor never gets a look-in in these p4p lists? Surely anyone who's undisputed in a division should be in the conversation? Ahead of Spence for sure in my eyes.

Re: Who is your p4p king?
Canelo is number one.
Oleksandr Usyk is number two, but could surpass Canelo by beating Tyson Fury.
In my mind, a fighter has to be the best in their respective division in order to lead the pound-for-pound rankings. And Oleksandr Usyk isn't the leading heavyweight right now. The Ukrainian will never compete at cruiserweight again.
Josh Taylor or Naoya Inoue are close for third.
The Scottish fighter’s feats surpass The Monster’s, but I have a feeling he may already be on the decline, because he recently gained a lot of weight and may not be disciplined enough to be a long-term member of the top-ten pound-for-pound elite.

Do you agree that the majority of boxing fans and the media thought Golovkin was beaten by Sergiy Derevyanchenko?
I'm not asking your personal opinion, just your perception of the thoughts conveyed by the media and also the majority of fans.
Re: Who is your p4p king?
it was closer, for sure and allclose fights are debatable, subjective etc, but ggg was already way past prime by then. canelo gets everything his own way,and is probably a drug cheat. he doesnt deserve p4p no 1 status.DrDuke wrote: ↑12 Nov 2021, 03:28The 2nd Golovkin fight wasn't a robbery, it was very close.jimcook wrote: ↑12 Nov 2021, 03:18 crawford at the moment

Re: Who is your p4p king?
Canelo and Usyk close second.
Then Crawford, Fury, Josh Taylor.
Then you've got the likes of Errol Spence, Teofimo Lopez, Breidis.
Bit more tricky then but I'd have GGG and Lomachenko to round out my top 10.

Re: Who is your p4p king?
When we determine p4p number 1, how much of a fighters record is taken into account? Do we take everything from their debut, or do we only take recent results? People seem to be doing both to either include or discount different fighters.
Crawford would be included if we went through his whole career as he was undisputed and has won a belt in a second weight class, but if you went on recent results he's got to be way down the list.
How does Spence keep getting a free pass? He's won 2 belts in 1 weight class, there are quite a few other fighters with greater achievements than that who aren't even being discussed, probably because they have losses on their records and he doesn't.
Top has got to be Canelo, and he'd still be top if you went off overall career and recent results. Usyk has to be second by the same logic.

I only consider very recent form, coupled with their resume highlights from the last four years, as suitable criteria to determine my top-ten pound-for-pound elite.mike_UK wrote: ↑12 Nov 2021, 08:56 When we determine p4p number 1, how much of a fighters record is taken into account? And of course, this inevitably means that the likes of Terence Crawford and Gennadiy Golovkin fail to make my list, even though I personally consider both men to be dead-cert first-ballot Hall-of-Famers.
It’s just that I feel that both men can’t keep dining out on feats they achieved prior to 2018 - time doesn't stand still!
