Galahad Should Retire

Post by 584131 »

He was exposed last night, he has no punch resistance whatsoever. He was never as good as people claimed, certainly not a world level operator. Kiko seemed to recognise he had no power to trouble him and had worked him out with how to close the distance by the 4th round.

He doesn't sell tickets, doesn't excite TV viewers, and doesn't have the chin to be a gatekeeper/journeyman type. If you can't beat an old, shot version of Kiko who everyone whos anything always beats. Then I fail to see where you can go from here. Barry is nearly 32 which is old for that weightclass. It must have been worrying times for his family seeing hims KTFO out like that., he should retire with his faculties intact before he gets seriously hurt.

He got caught with a punch that would've knocked out a horse. I agree his style isn't great to watch and isn't a ticket seller either but he was winning thr fight comfortably up to that point.

There's far more notable boxers who should retire instead. I think it might have been the first time I seen him hurt badly in any fight.

It was more complacency from his side. I'd give him another chance.

He wasn't getting any respect from Kiko with his shoe shine punches.

Im know fan of his but to say he should retire is a bit far fetched. For me weight is a issue. He hasn't looked good on the scales the last couple fights. He needs to move up and try and force a mandatory shot at some title. Cant see him getting chosen as a voluntary.

If he is as bad as you say he is, he will still have lots of paydays and opportunites ahead of him.
And since when has getting beat in a world fight means that you cant fight!

Yeah Galahad should definitely retire. And Warrington only just scraped past Galahad and got ko’d by Lara, so he should retire as well. And Kiko should have retired after being ko’d in 2 by Quigg. The whole division should just retire.

That's right , any boxer loses a fight they should immediately retire without question .

On a serious note, the first one was a strange shot that caught him square in the face, not the side of the head or behind the ear or on the chin , Are they normally concussive shots ?
I've always thought he had a great chin and can't remember him being wobbled by anyone.
He'll be back no doubts .

Think the only one who should retire...is me from this forum. Over the last year the idiots have begun to outnumber the people with reasonable judgement. Adios.

I thought that. Any shot landing on the edges of the head will make it rotate more and cause more damage (which is why the chin is usually such a good target). But it's unusual to see the face being the point of rotation for a KO. What a man can do with a good doctor...

I got caught with a shot on the cheekbone once, the angle of the punch and the angle I took it at (and i got caught with one I didn’t see) meant my head got rotated almost as much as a chin or temple shot. I felt this horrible jolt like an electric shock which then sort of bolted into my temples, this sharp searing post-electric shock sort of feeling. I was absolutely bang out on my feet, could barely stand. Cracking headache the next morning

Interesting.

Should Khan have retired in 2008, Carl?

I don’t think their situations are comparable. Khan was a hugely talented highly marketable young prospect, Galahad is a relatively unknown 32 yr old for whom such a brutal knockout could mark the start of a rapid decline.
