Re: Tyson Fury vs. Dillian Whyte - WBC Mandatory
The WBC are being dicks with Whyte. The legal situation has been ongoing for a while now and it was before they stated that the mandatory would be ordered after 30 days if the Usyk fight can’t be made.
They’re clearly hoping that Whyte drops his case and then they’ll order the mandatory.
If Whyte refuses to drop it though their recent action won’t help their case as they just seem to move the goalposts.
Would anyone really be unhappy if they ordered Whyte as mandatory? I don’t think so. He’s beaten more other contenders than most.

I know. After he had knocked everyone out he had ever met and had an Olympic bronze medal... everyone I've ever spoken to also think Joyce is crap, too. I wish I'd have entered the Olympics. It must be easy.Boxerbeetle wrote: ↑17 Nov 2021, 05:42People were saying Wilder was terrible long before he fought Fury.mickey1975 wrote: ↑17 Nov 2021, 04:43 So because Wilder lost to Tyson, he's terrible? The WBC are a crock of shite, have been for decades.
I hope Tyson gives him the shot anyway, and then dumps the belt - in truth, he doesn't even need it.

Re: Tyson Fury vs. Dillian Whyte - WBC Mandatory
Fury may need no belts, but Eddeh will be glad to hide his fighters from Fury without that piss poor strap or to demand too much from team Fury in organization of bouts against Joshua or Usyk. Imagine Whyte winning a vacant belt against some dosser. Eddeh will explode in happiness about Joshua/Usyk vs Whyte for the undisputed championship. It will ultimately disvalue sanctioning bodies.jamesmcdonnell wrote: ↑17 Nov 2021, 08:38 The WBC are a crock of shite, have been for decades.

Re: Tyson Fury vs. Dillian Whyte - WBC Mandatory
All the more reason for Fury to fight Whyte as a voluntary, then bin the belt afterward, - that way there's zero interest in Whyte fighting Usyk for the belts. Whyte's not exactly a huge draw as it is, a tumping off of Fury will only make that more so.DrDuke wrote: ↑17 Nov 2021, 08:43Fury may need no belts, but Eddeh will be glad to hide his fighters from Fury without that piss poor strap or to demand too much from team Fury in organization of bouts against Joshua or Usyk. Its a twats trick to force whyte to drop his legal case in return for something he should really be getting anyway .
Re: Tyson Fury vs. Dillian Whyte - WBC Mandatory
Eddie needs to cut down with his mouth in places. How many interviews has he said "it is fully excpected that the WBC will enforce the fight" - he's been even giving timelines etc of when the announcement will happen. Shut up till it does happen - waiting two weeks until the decision was confirmed wasn't exactly going to boost or dimmish the ticket sales.
Whether you agree with WBC or not - Eddie's mouth can sometimes bite him on the arse with no need really.

Re: Tyson Fury vs. Dillian Whyte - WBC Mandatory
Wilder hadn't faced anyone of real quality prior to facing Tyson. Lots of people were saying this, and Bellew actually got into a silly argument with Wilder pointing out that his win against a shop worn and invalid David Haye was better than anything Wilder had beaten at heavyweight .. Bellew is Bellew of course, but point is, not everyone was convinced by Wilders superb KO record.mickey1975 wrote: ↑17 Nov 2021, 08:16Yeah, I wish I was five pence behind him, with his record.Twinkle Toes wrote: ↑17 Nov 2021, 08:05 Fury Vs whyte is a good fight, not sure why anyone wouldn't want o see it.

And whilst some were pointing out his Olympic medal as proof he had more skill than he had actually shown as a pro - but his 3 losses to Tyson only emphasised what a terrible state heavyweight boxing is in .. both amateur and pro.
I recognise Tyson as the top heavyweight. I also recognise he is the best of a very bad bunch.
I'd like to see him against Whyte to see if he really is as good as the Wilder fights .. in which case he should bowl Whyte over within 5 one-sided rnds.
I am hoping the WBC are merely helping Tyson not have to give the 45% split to Whyte, and it gets made next.

I don’t blame Eddie for the Fury/AJ fight not happening as it was clearly Bob’s issue to sort but he does let his mouth run away on things like this.stujones wrote: ↑17 Nov 2021, 12:53 Eddie needs to cut down with his mouth in places. I agree, I've seen people saying right daft things about Fury. GOAT, how he would flatten Usyk in 1 round, and he could beat him and Joshua in the same day.tonyevs wrote: ↑17 Nov 2021, 13:28Wilder hadn't faced anyone of real quality prior to facing Tyson. Let's face it, Wilder is gak, he doesn't really have a single top drawer win in his career. His best result was a draw with Fury. Other than that, his resume is very weak, even for this era.
Fury has skills, but he hasn't proven he can dominate top drawer opposition yet. Aside from beating Wilder, what's his best win? An old Wlad, Chisora, Wallin? It's hardly an ATG lineup.
I don't rate Whyte highly, but I suspect he probably gives Fury more trouble than people think. He has a better defence than Wilder, and better skills, although that's not saying a lot to be fair, as Wilder is technique wise, the worst heavyweight champ of all time.
Re: Tyson Fury vs. Dillian Whyte - WBC Mandatory
He really needs to shut up on things like this - if I was managing a young an up and coming fighter things like this would make me think twice - 1 the fact he couldn't deliver Wilder vs Whyte when he was mandatory for a million days and then things like this would surely make a manager / fighter question if he he can deliver on his promises. I know very harsh what I am saying particularly when there are strong rumours of other promoters not being able to pay up etc - but it doesn't look good when he is so public and then so publicly wrong. All of those "positive meetings with the WBC" similar to the "positive meetings with the Saudi's" and with the added incorrect information about Williams vs Eubank being a PPV - a young fighter must start to doubt what Eddie says on the likes of IFL.maverick23 wrote: ↑17 Nov 2021, 13:40I don’t blame Eddie for the Fury/AJ fight not happening as it was clearly Bob’s issue to sort but he does let his mouth run away on things like this.stujones wrote: ↑17 Nov 2021, 12:53 Eddie needs to cut down with his mouth in places. Bob clearly played him with the Fury vs Wilder thing - dragged his heels, said very little made Eddie work his nuts off and boom when the arbitration goes wrong - Wilder vs Fury 3 gets signed on national TV within a week! The fact though that Eddie was practically giving hourly updates of how close it was. Not just if the I's were dotted and t's crossed, but how many I's they dotted today! - it wasn't good for people to have faith in his ability to get things over the line.

Tyson Fury's Promoter Advises Whyte To Lower His Financial Demands
“I think Whyte’s fighting over the purse split [with the WBC] and I don’t think he’s got anywhere to go with it. Facts are facts and he lodged his last purse as being £300,000 [for the March rematch with Alexander Povetkin]," Warren told Talk Sport.
“Tyson is in the driving seat. He’s the champion, he’s fought hard to get there, he’s not had any easy fights. Of course the fighter wants to get paid, I get that, but if you’re as good as you think you are, go and win it! Then you’re in the driving seat. He could’ve done that against Anthony Joshua, but he turned down four or five million dollars to fight Joshua. I look at that and say, ‘Where’s your ambition? Why are you in this?'
“What the WBC have said is: let it go to arbitration, let the arbitrators decide on whether he’s got a case or not. If he has, they’ll abide by that. They said the split, which we can’t quite get at the moment, is either going to be 85/15 in Tyson’s favor or 80/20. And that’s because the purses that were submitted, in his last fight, Whyte said he got £300,000.”
"Not for what he thinks his worth is. It will be what is determined by the WBC. If we can get that on, it’s shouldn’t be a problem. We’re not bending over backwards for him," Warren said.

Re: Tyson Fury vs. Dillian Whyte - WBC Mandatory
Arum, Warren To Explore Fury-Whyte For March At Principality Stadium In Cardiff, Wales
Bob Arum understood the WBC’s decision at its annual convention earlier this week to refrain from making Dillian Whyte the mandatory challenger for Tyson Fury’s heavyweight championship due to the active lawsuit Whyte filed against the WBC regarding his mandatory status in June 2020.
That decision still won’t prevent Arum and Fury’s other co-promoter, allegedly, from trying to make what would be a voluntary defense of Fury’s title against Whyte. Arum informed BS.com that he and Warren will speak with Whyte’s representatives soon about putting together a Fury-Whyte fight at some point in March at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales.
“Frank and I are looking for the best possible opponent,” Arum told BS.com. “Obviously, number one, we would like Usyk if Joshua steps aside. Number two, if that’s not possible, then Whyte probably is as attractive an opponent for Tyson as anybody else out there. So again, we’re gonna sit down with [Whyte’s] people and see if we can work out a deal.
“It’s a huge fight in England, and Tyson has indicated that he wants his next fight to be in the UK. So, now there’s two guys that come to mind – one is Whyte, the other is [Joe] Joyce. We’re gonna see. And, of course, it all depends on who Fury wants to fight. Ultimately, he’ll decide.”
England’s Joshua (24-2, 22 KOs) hasn’t given any indication that he’ll step aside to allow Usyk to face Fury next in what would be a full title unification fight.
Joshua exercised his immediate rematch clause after Ukraine’s Usyk (19-0, 13 KOs) upset him by unanimous decision September 25 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. The former IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO champ expects to box Usyk next, perhaps as soon as April.
Regardless, Fury has told Arum and Warren that he wants his first appearance of 2022 to occur in the United Kingdom. The Manchester, England, native’s past five fights have taken place in the United States.
A fight with Joyce also would sell well in the UK. London’s Joyce (13-0, 12 KOs), a 2016 Olympic silver medalist, is promoted by Warren, which would make that fight relatively easy to put together.
If Fury (31-0-1, 22 KOs) moves forward with Whyte (28-2, 19 KOs), it would likely be a voluntary defense of his WBC belt.
“You can’t sue an organization and then say, ‘Well, make us mandatory,’ ” Arum said. “Again, [the WBC is] quite right – until this is decided in arbitration, he doesn’t deserve to be the mandatory. I think they made a very, very appropriate decision. Now, that doesn’t mean that Tyson won’t end up fighting Dillian Whyte. But it won’t be done on a mandatory basis.”
London’s Whyte was supposed to fight Swedish southpaw Otto Wallin (22-1, 14 KOs, 1 NC) on October 30 in a 12-round fight DAZN was set to stream from O2 Arena in London. The Jamaican-born Whyte, who owns the WBC interim title, withdrew from his fight with Wallin less than two weeks in advance due to a shoulder injury.

Re: Tyson Fury vs. Dillian Whyte - WBC Mandatory
As with anything Tyson Fury related- wait until a contract is signed, then you have a 50% chance it will happen, but you can't be sure until he steps into the ring. Sad but true.
Re: Tyson Fury vs. Dillian Whyte - WBC Mandatory
Fingers crossed it's Whyte. That will show us how good Fury is - or how bad Wilder really was.
Slow-Joe-Joyce could also be intriguing; the Fury of a few years back would be expected to win every round quite easily - the Fury in the last Wilder fight may really struggle keeping the plodding march forward of Joyce off him over 12rnds.

Re: Tyson Fury vs. Dillian Whyte - WBC Mandatory
Unfortunately very true.
I really can't see him taking anything other than a very easy defence next until Usyk or Joshua becomes available.
