I always liked Paul Samuels, I don't know why other than he was a banger and had an interesting back story. I met Wayne Alexander at the York Hall years back and was chatting to him, in a purely conversational way I said I wanted Samuels to beat him, the look he gave me was priceless.

Some of these you had to either catch them on Granada on a Sunday months after or you might see the result on Ceefax if you waited long enough for it to scroll through 50 pages of international sports results. Or on ZDF sometimes, I think I caught most of Ottke's fights live but had to sit through the pomp and German commentary to find out if he'd held onto his title again.

Nice list, orb. For me, it was always Jorge Paez, although I can't say it was for no reason. Hairline decisions may sum it up best, in terms of results and looks. Plus the backflips, sequined shorts almost to his ankles, mickey taking during fights. And listening to Reg Gutteridge commentate on it, sounding weary at the modern world, just added to it all. Plus Khaosai Galaxy, for the whole crocodile farm madness thing.

ha, I could never warm to Paez. Just something about him. I know he was an actual circus clown at some point so was fully entitled to do all the flips and stuff. Same with Camacho, less the being an actual clown.

Currently I follow New Zealand heavyweight, Hemi Ahio, after seeing him on the undercard of the Parker V Fa fight.

He had a cracking fight with Julius Long, and since then, I try to look out for his fights.

Same, from the amateur ranks up to now. He may be a bit small for the big time though.
I've seen him live 3 times, once ringside, but I wasn't really allowed there, I was just keeping a rich blokes seat warm

I think the ‘no reason’ thing is a bit misleading. There’s always a reason behind our choices lol but I guess the sentiment of the thread is randomness.
