Randall Tex Cobb vs Smokin' Bert Cooper

Post by DrDuke »

Prime vs prime.

10 rounds.

It could develop to a good brawl. Both weren't sublime artists at all. Both took part in great slugfests, while could be outclassed by the superior boxers on some occasions. Both could be determined. Both were eager to mix it up, but remained opened for counters. Cobb had a chin advantage. I guess, Cobb's superior toughness would be crucial. I see it as a war with Cobb winning close on points or stopping Cooper somewhere in the middle.

What do you think?

Tex Cobb would punish Cooper in the early rounds, then finishing him off with a KO win in 6 rounds.

I see Cooper outworking Cobb for a decision. This one is really good !

Much as I like Randall Cobb, he wasn't the most skilled man there was. Yeah, he got robbed by Ken Norton, but beyond that I can't think of a time when he actually outscored our outboxed anyone who was of any real consequence.

Cooper, on the other hand, was always a live underdog and could put together punches pretty good. When he brought his A+ game he could give guys like Evander Holyfield problems.

So I'll go with Cooper by decision.

I think Cobb could beat Cooper. Cooper isn't going to hurt him, and probably Cobb isn't going to hurt Cooper, but he did more at heavyweight than Bert did. Cobb UD 10 Cooper.

In a 10 rounder, Cooper opens a big lead, before fading in the second half. In this scenario Cooper hangs on to edge it. In a 12 rounder Cobb might get the late stoppage before the final bell rings.
