Performance Awareness

Post by Stobbo »

Probably been done before but in the wake of Lopez's interview,
As an elite level boxer how aware are you really of your round by round performance. Surely you must know your letting rounds slip or being competitive at least?
Opinions please gents.

Comical really, he looked like he had been hit by a bus and then was claiming to have won 10 rounds!

Then the Aussie offered him a rematch in front of 80,000 in Sydney and his arse fell out saying he wants to spend time with his family!

😆
Don't know if he fancies the job Coco. In his head he might think he needs to move up but he'll get hit harder by Taylor and co than he did against Kambosos

Fimo showed all the traits I detest in a loud mouth yank.

Gives it large all werk, disrespectful to the Max, gets done on fight night and then can't handle the fact that he lost.

He is only just below Broner in terms of knobness.

Then again with a father like he has, it's easy to see why.

Take your loss like a man and come back stronger.

I'd like to see Teo's father and Danny Garcia's father in the Triad ring with Jobby 'brilliant boxing AJ' doing one corner and that eejit Teddy 'we firefighters' Atlas doing the other. That would be fun.

Lopez is in a bit of a tough spot now. Dunno if he has a rematch clause but he is a bit too good to be given a voluntary and is at the back of the queue now for mandatories.
Doesn't generate a lot of money either and can see him being out in the cold.
Furthermore moving up prob won't suit him either and the likes of Taylor won't be interested if Lopez isn't champ.
Moving up, Lomo is still a big name, the Aussie has the belts and the kid who beat Luke Campbell is a money generator.
As I said, I don't see a route for Lopez. Hopefully for him he earned well last night because he had admitted his purse was only $600k for the Lomo fight and he will be back to earning 20k for NABF next.
On the other hand after the Lomo fight he should have been earning millions.

Lopez signed a deal with Top Rank meaning he’ll have most of his fights on PPV. There’s probably a clause in there though dropping the minimum if he lost.

I think he’ll either fight Zepeda or Taylor next but, for Taylor, will have to be prepared to accept a lower split. Having all the belts would mean he could go straight up and be made mandatory. Now Josh will only fight him if the money’s right.

He won’t be messing around for $20k and the NABF belt but will need to readjust his expectations. He got $3m before deductions for the fight last night - he won’t be seeing that in his next fight.

There is one thing the judges don't know, but can usually hear, and that is punch power.
They got it right in the Figaroa Fulton fight, Figaroa was throwing slightly more leather, and frpm an amateur view point may have won the fight.
But the judges scored a pro fight, gave the cleaner, harder hitting Fulton the nod. And Figaroa had a little bad sportsman melt down like Lopez. Shameful really.
You take your licks and use the anger and disappointment in the gym to come back better.

Not quite on the same level. Still loves the limelight but not as delusional.
Good trainer, I don't think Shawn would have done what he has without poppa Porter. They studied Crawford and made it hard for him early on.
And as for throwing in the towel when he did against Crawford, we could all see how that fight was going, and so could his dad.
