BoxRec: VPN connections and trackers?
Has anyone else noticed that the BoxRec website is unresponsive when you’re using VPN software to secure your connection? The pages just don’t load (mobile device or PC). And the behaviour is the same using multiple different VPN brands.
And according to Norton AntiTrack, the BoxRec website also attempts to upload multiple trackers to your device whenever you’re using it without enabling your VPN?
I’d be interested to know the reason why the BoxRec website is configured this way and also understand the purpose of all the trackers they’re trying to upload to your devices?
I suppose this thread is technically off-topic, but if it’s moved to a different (rarely visited) board, a lot of people won’t be aware of the issue, which might be affecting them (without even realising it).
What are they doing with our information and who are they sharing it with?
For the record, I’m not making any accusations, but I’d like to know whether I’ve discovered things that weren’t detailed in the BoxRec terms of service?

Boxrec is a CIA shell company that is just used to catch guys masturbating to illegal images of Ginger mexicans.. So make sure you close your other tabs befor opening boxrec.

What type of information is BoxRec capturing about you?gregregegg wrote: ↑28 Nov 2021, 06:22 Boxrec is a CIA shell company that is just used to catch guys masturbating to illegal images of Ginger mexicans.. So make sure you close your other tabs befor opening boxrec.
Who are they sharing it with and for what purpose?
And are the same trackers used on multiple websites, meaning they aren’t just capturing your BoxRec activity? So they could know about the other websites being visited?
Are these unreasonable questions to ask?

I only ever visit Boxrec on my iPhone and without any VPN. Nearly always loads with no issues. I have noticed various Trackers showing up on Safari’s Privacy Report, but it’s actually significantly fewer than the majority of other sites I visit regularly (the awful website I visit for local news has over 110 reports!). Trackers are just a way of life now, but that’s why God invented Incognito Mode.

The VPN thing is a biggie for me, because I often use public networks, meaning that I have to render my device vulnerable in order to use BoxRec.Boxerbeetle wrote: ↑28 Nov 2021, 06:36 I only ever visit Boxrec on my iPhone and without any VPN. And to be fair, if BoxRec is getting paid to use trackers and share our information with third-parties, wouldn’t it be good to know who they were and what type of data is being exchanged, so we could make an informed choice?
Incognito Mode doesn’t block all trackers.

Nope. That’s a lengthy explanation, but it doesn’t answer any of the questions I’ve asked.

I stopped using the std android browser and nasty old Google.
Now only using Brave as my browser a d search engine. It stamps out the nasty tracking from MI5/6 boxrec and other nefarious buggers.

I check out Boxrec and a few other boxing sites. Beyond that it's midget gangbang porn.
If Boxrec is interested in that let them at it

Everyone's after your online data.
Google are particularly insidious.
It's virtually impossible to use a smartphone without them linking up all of your online activities. If you thought they were offering free software, then think again.
Their search engine is hopelessly biased and censorious.
Apple, despite all of their bullshit do-good rhetoric are almost as bad.
As for Facebook, I hard to believe that anyone is still unaware of their pernicious data syphoning strategies.
Welcome to the modern online world where GDPR and privacy laws only apply to the folks trying to do some good!
Everyone should either use a VPN or find a more privacy respecting browser such as Firefox and search engine such as Brave, DuckDuckGo etc
Far, far too many people still don't seem to be aware that for most of the time you're better off with open source software.
Almost everything from word processing to video editing is available as FREE, non intrusive open source software.

Re: BoxRec: VPN connections and trackers?
Oddly, after the upgrade that locked me out for a few days, I've found that I can now log in with a VPN.
