Re: Tyson Fury vs. Dillian Whyte - WBC Mandatory
i guess if someone was rooting for fury it might have been good, but it really didnt offer any more action than wlad's fights that ppl hated on him for. both guys fought just as boring as those ones
Re: Tyson Fury vs. Dillian Whyte - WBC Mandatory
I found it entertaining, because it was fun to give a round after round for Fury. At that moment Klitschko had never been outboxed, he was a huge favorite, while Fury wasn't taken seriously by almost anybody, including myself. I was rooting for Fury that time, because I was always rooting against Klitschko during his reign. Since that fight I became a Fury fan, so I have good memories about it.Kit wrote: ↑24 Nov 2021, 03:52 Am I the only person who enjoyed Fury-Klitchsko?
Klitchsko reign was hard to watch and seeing the unified and lineal number 1 outboxed on home turf by a young heavy underdog Brit was special!
The build up, the ring walk, the constant threat of Fury walking onto one and even the song after was great with Vlad looking like he wanted the earth to swallow him up in the background.

It was fascinating to watch first time round as it was a big upset & there was all the tension of can he keep it up & can he get the decision but I wouldn’t want to watch it againKit wrote: ↑24 Nov 2021, 03:52 Am I the only person who enjoyed Fury-Klitchsko?

It was a great weekend. Great pubs, loads of support there for Tyson, stadium only ten minutes from the centre, Christmas market on.
Re: Tyson Fury vs. Dillian Whyte - WBC Mandatory
I absolutely loved it at the time. One of those fights you can be totally immersed in but never want to watch another second of again once you know the result.Kit wrote: ↑24 Nov 2021, 03:52 Am I the only person who enjoyed Fury-Klitchsko?

I spent the next fortnight wondering what I had seen!
I don’t think it was a ‘boxing masterclass’. Kilt was more confused than anything else. He was disrupted by someone who does things differently.
It’s certainly not going down as one for the ages.

I can't see Fury fighting AJ if he loses the rematch, what would be the point. It would only make sense if Fury subsequently lost his titles.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑23 Nov 2021, 22:57 the mcdermott fights mean very little now tbh, so many good fghters, incliuding ones vastly better than fury, had early hiccups. i thought big john won too, but fair play fury went in right with him again and won conclusively . that was like a decade ago and hes obviously drastically better now
what the issue is for furys career, and his legacy, is he needs to fight good opposition more consistently, and to beat the other elite hws to truly rule the division. look at how usyk beat champ after champ (including unified champs), top contender after top contender, to become undisputed all within a couple years at cruiser. thats what a true ruler does. whereas fury has only ever made 1 title defense and beat only 2 top 10 hws his whole 14 year career--both for very nice wins, but still a limited resume
whyte/joyce, then the usyk-aj winner would be a nice way for him to carry on. also, even if aj loses the rematch to usyk, that could still be a big fight for fury if aj can return with a win. it would always allow fury to say he beat his bitter domestic rival. he dont win fights by proxy.
and wouldnt it be so satisfying to fury and his bois? surely its worth it if he can do it easily
I think Usyk wins the rematch, perhaps more emphatically, and then there's the natural fight to be made. I'd imagine Fury wins that, but I won't discount Usyk at all, he's too good, arguably the best boxer that Fury will ever have faced, technically he is close to perfection.
I just hope Fury fights someone decent in his next fight, rather than a total scrub, he can't have too many fights left now, he's probably just at his prime, and will begin to decline now, so I hope he makes the most of what remains of it.
Re: Tyson Fury vs. Dillian Whyte - WBC Mandatory
I've watched it a few times since and will watch it again. I think it's fascinating to watch from a pure boxing point of view, everything that Fury was doing in there to throw Wlad. Obviously it's not an up and down war, so I can see why people don't appreciate it. But I don't think it's boring. I remember the Klitschko bros dominance all too well. Unbeatable Wlad being mentally unravelled by Fury, nobody knew what to make of it. It's a very important fight.a force wrote: ↑24 Nov 2021, 04:11It was fascinating to watch first time round as it was a big upset & there was all the tension of can he keep it up & can he get the decision but I wouldn’t want to watch it againKit wrote: ↑24 Nov 2021, 03:52 Am I the only person who enjoyed Fury-Klitchsko?

I wouldn't go back and watch it or score it again.
I wouldn't even watch a quick 5-10 min highlight video either.
Re: Tyson Fury vs. Dillian Whyte - WBC Mandatory
I thought fury won the first two rounds and then nicked the last two. As it was a ten round fight, I wasn't as upset as everyone else. Close fight where you could argue the result sure, but not a "robbery" in my eyes. granted the rounds John won, he won big. but i watched it the day after, having read the outrage on here., and when i saw it i couldn't fathom what all the fuss was about.

I bet Otto Wallin had a satisfying guffaw to himself when he heard the news
Re: Tyson Fury vs. Dillian Whyte - WBC Mandatory
Wlad was not a green inexperienced pro in any of his losses. He was 2yrs a pro when stopped by Purity .. 7 and 8 yrs a pro for the next two losses.mickey1975 wrote: ↑24 Nov 2021, 03:01So knocking out a green, inexperienced pro is more noteworthy than a unified champion undefeated for 10 years?tonyevs wrote: ↑24 Nov 2021, 02:23Possibly. Point was to counter your argument you typically raise that it meant more to beat Wlad on home soil.
I am not sure that beating Wlad on points is better than getting a stoppage victory; I can't imagine more than 1 person (ok 2 people) thinking Fury's win was better than any of Wlads other losses .. the punch stats say it all ...
Being a champion for 10 years is some achievement .. Wlad was of course 39 yrs old when he lost to Fury; pretty old that even in heavyweight boxing terms.

Re: Tyson Fury vs. Dillian Whyte - WBC Mandatory
Fury vs Usyk is fascinating - Fury size means he is going to be awkward for anyone particularly anyone. However, I would flip it and say Usyk size and his speed and his skill sets means he is the most awkward fighter for Fury. Irrespective what happens in the Joshua fight, I would still rather see Fury vs Usyk than Fury vs AJ. AJ will just be too slow and too conventional for Fury. With Usyk, I just recall the Steve Cunnigham fight.jamesmcdonnell wrote: ↑24 Nov 2021, 05:58I can't see Fury fighting AJ if he loses the rematch, what would be the point. One thing I have notice though in the last two fights is how Fury's physique has changed a bit. I'm not meaning his belly, I am meaning his arms look bigger and his muscling of his arms are those elongated punchers muscles that a young Mike Tyson had (but went more shorter muscles post Jail) certainly the pictures of him next to Tommy - you can see one is training for boxing and one is training to look good. So while I have been a tad sceptical of the new "powerful" Fury and thinking it is more about Wilder's inability to fight on the back foot, Fury might actually be developing some man power belatedly.

Re: Tyson Fury vs. Dillian Whyte - WBC Mandatory
Hearn Still Hopes Fury vs. Whyte Will Come Off in Early 2022
Eddie Hearn, promoter for heavyweight contender Dillian Whyte, expects WBC world champion Tyson Fury to return to the ring in the month of March.
And, Hearn is crossing his fingers that Fury will select Whyte as his opponent.
"I don't believe he fights in February. Because he's coming off a bit of man flu, as he says, and we're [in] December next week. I think realistically March and hopefully, it'll be Dillian Whyte," Hearn told IFL TV.
However, that didn't happen as Whyte is currently engaged in a legal battle with the sanctioning body.
"That's why he's done it. Because if he left it to the WBC, which he has done, he wasn't able to get what he deserves, in his opinion. So that's why he's gone down this route. And when this ruling is made, it'll be a lot more solid and clear and, yeah, favorable as well, we expect. So that's the reason behind the process. It's just a timing issue and hopefully, there's a ruling on that in due course," Hearn said.
Fury is personally not concerned with Whyte's ongoing legal issues.
He aims to fight in the first quarter of 2022 - with or without Whyte in the opposite corner.
“I thought I was going to be fighting Dillian Whyte but I don’t know what he has going on in his private life with the WBC. He has a court case going on and it’s kind of sh!t because I know how long arbitrations can take because my own one with Deontay Wilder took 18 months," Fury told IFL TV.
“I hope he does not get caught in the long grass and I hope I don’t get forced into another fight like a voluntary defense. But I don’t care because they are all just work-outs for me, I will destroy them all like I have done all my life. It does not matter if it is Dillian Whyte, Dillian Blue or Dillian Grey. I am not interested in waiting around for other people, I will be fighting again in February, early March latest, defending my WBC heavyweight world title."

is whytes issue with the wbc forcing him out of any fight for the title? like, even if he's not named mandatory, he still cant have a voluntary title fight vs big tyson?

He can still take a voluntary with Tyson but that doesn’t mean the offer will be good. He’d drop his case in an instant if the WBC order what he thinks is fair purse split.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑30 Nov 2021, 06:00 is whytes issue with the wbc forcing him out of any fight for the title? like, even if he's not named mandatory, he still cant have a voluntary title fight vs big tyson?

Looks like it’s finally been ordered by the WBC. Negotiation period before purse bids called. Not sure yet on what the purse splits will be if required but great that’s it’s happening for Whyte.
