Crikey. I’m sure there’s more to it but seemingly all that for dancing with someone. What goes through someone’s head to take ammonia with them to a wedding?!dookus wrote: ↑30 Nov 2021, 05:29 Pre-fame shenanigans from the Fury mob

It’s amazing really that Tyson and Tommy (and seemingly the other brothers) have pretty much stayed out of trouble during their lives given where they’ve come from. Hopefully that doesn’t change once Tyson retires.
Re: John Fury threatens to ‘Bury’ Hearn
Whatever happened to the other Fury that turned over and appeared on a few ITV shows (with a young Tyson) - had a mass of curly hair if I remember. That's not the same guy who is now like Tyson's big chair leader in his fights?

indeed, and Oathie Sykes lost an eye over what was either (depending on the story I read) an argument over a car bought at auction, or a spilt drink at a weddingmaverick23 wrote: ↑30 Nov 2021, 06:05Crikey. Re: John Fury threatens to ‘Bury’ Hearn
There's a photo of all 4 'full' brothers (John jr, Tyson, Shane and Hughie)when they're younger in Tyson's autobiography. 'Little John' looks a fair sized fella. I quite like listening to Shane, so it'd be interesting to see what John Jr had to say for himself but maybe he's not made for TV. To be honest, if you're in the public eye people will put the boot in no matter what you do, so I can see why he'd want nothing of it.mickey1975 wrote: ↑29 Nov 2021, 23:03 Hughie was another ex prisoner. Big John has an eldest son called John, Tyson's brother, who doesn't like the cameras. Peter Fury jr has had a few bare knuckles.

Is this a seperate incident to John's most recent time spent behind bars.ShadrachSimmo wrote: ↑30 Nov 2021, 07:23The ammonia was probably a wedding present.maverick23 wrote: ↑30 Nov 2021, 06:05Crikey. Life can be very strange at times - some men can get similar done for similar crimes but can NEVER fully rehabilitate as society won't let them (e.g. never get a job etc) yet others can not just find jobs but can earn more than a decent coin themselves as a consequence.

Tyson was protected from a young age because they knew he was special. No weddings or funerals for him.

Re: John Fury threatens to ‘Bury’ Hearn
I never had the opportunity to have ever talked to Hughie Fury (brother of John and Peter) even when he was still alive and was Tyson's trainer. But from different things I've heard he was quite a force to be reckoned with.Cyclops wrote: ↑29 Nov 2021, 18:10Not Shades of Ali. John and Peter's brother Hughie, who used to train Tyson. Fairly mysterious character, but Henry was mates with Peter so might have some insider gossip.gregregegg wrote: ↑29 Nov 2021, 18:06Because he is only a pup, Everyone knows that if they get on hughies bad side they will get dealt with when he gets his man stregnth.
There is an old video on IFL TV where Tyson's grandma was at a party or reception after Tyson won the title and she was pretty blunt in her own way that Hugh was the most opinionated, so I take it as he was the most "in your face" of the brothers.
https://boxrec.com/en/proboxer/25448
He had a boxing career of sorts too. He wasn't the "best man", but he had a mind for boxing. After all he was Tyson's trainer up until his death which was not long after the Ustinov fight was scrapped.
I don't think a single interview of him is out there online. He was a pretty quiet man in that regard. He wasn't as bombastic as John or as personable as Peter. In a way it reminds me of my grandpa and his brothers--- they were all strong and could fight but my grandpa was the best overall, however his brother Duane was the hot headed one.
I suppose with Hugh Fury it was his temperament that set him apart from the others that made him a man to think twice of crossing. In a way it reminds me of Bartley Gorman saying that although he was the king of the gypsies and the champion the reality was that Sam Gorman was the better fighter.
I won't say that I was "mates" with Peter Fury. I interviewed him several times. He was always obliging with his time, very nice man. I am friends with a cousin of theirs. He's given a pretty good insight into that world and family dynamic.
But I don't ask deep personal questions (ie, "What did Peter fall out with John over?") because for one, that's family business not mine, and two they wouldn't tell you anyways even if you did ask, and the moment you do they'll write you off forever as a "hanger on" and a fake rather than a real friend.

From what I heard it occurred at an auction, or something to that effect. A lot of trading and selling going about. Fury hadn't seen Sykes in basically twenty years. Old grudges were still there, and Sykes kept running off at the head. He kept insisting on it being personal, so Fury obliged him and got more than he wanted.CaptainSpacerod wrote: ↑29 Nov 2021, 17:27Oathie Sykes disagrees with youHomicideHenry wrote: ↑29 Nov 2021, 15:08 I will say though I would rather have an altercation with John Fury than I would Peter Fury. John I honestly think would give you every opportunity in the world to change your mind, no matter how pissed off he was,
I'm not going to say that it was right what happened. It went too far. But none of us were there to see what actually happened. Was the eye literally knocked out of his head, or so damaged from a punch it had to be removed? Was it tore out from the socket? Or was it an accidental eye poke where it became dislodged? Who knows.
All I do know is in that culture it takes virtually nothing to start a war among families, or to get somebody killed or damn near killed. And it don't matter if it's in public or somewhere more private, if they come for you they are coming for you. Just look at what happened to Henry Wharton some years ago, or Francis Barrett, or even someone like Paddy Doherty.
That being said I still stand by what I said earlier. John Fury is like a gorilla. He will roar at you, charge you, throw things around--- giving you every chance and opportunity to change your mind. But if you are still standing there running your mouth after all that then yes it's your ass.

Hughie wasn't Tyson's trainer until he passed away, in fact he gave a damning interview to Boxing news on Tyson.

What the hell are you talking about?mickey1975 wrote: ↑30 Nov 2021, 11:20 Hughie wasn't Tyson's trainer until he passed away, in fact he gave a damning interview to Boxing news on Tyson.
Hugh Fury died on October 11th, 2014.
Hugh was training or co-training Tyson all the way up until the planned Alexander Ustinov fight, but that was scrapped because Hugh's health made a turn for the worst.
https://www.thevisitor.co.uk/news/inque ... al-2488300
The last time, I think, Hugh was actually in Fury's corner was for the Firtha fight in 2011. Hugh had issues with diabetes, etc--- so the bulk of the training duties transferred over to Peter.
What "damning" interview could he have given? The man was dead long before Tyson won the title and went off the rails mentally ballooning up to nearly 400 pounds.Yea didn't he call him a 20 stone fat c*nt or something along those lines

You weren't there either. So if I'm deluded, you're deluded because you are completely assuming John Fury just attacked without provocation like a raving lunatic.Counter-puncher wrote: ↑30 Nov 2021, 11:47how exactly do you know that Sykes was 'given every chance' before he had an eye gouged out?HomicideHenry wrote: ↑30 Nov 2021, 11:11

How do I know? I know the character of these people. Tyson was, at the time, the British champion. July 14th, 2010. They don't do things to jeopardize everyone's careers when they know so much is on the line. So it had to of been pretty damn bad on Oathie Sykes part to have gotten John Fury that damn irate.
Think about it. Do you know of a time when he was arrested prior to that for assault? He just doesn't arbitrarily attack people and maim them. It had to of been pretty bad on both men's parts for it to have gotten to that point.
Now if you can find newspaper accounts prior to Tyson Fury making his debut of John Fury being violent and being tossed in jail for assault, etc then more power to you but I don't think it really exists.
If such an arrest record exists I can only imagine that it would pertain to prize fighting illegally, since there are newspaper accounts of Bartley Gorman being arrested for the same thing. Not some incident where he was abusive or a threat to the community at large or some other crap like that.

Just because a man isn't in the corner doesn't mean he didn't have some sort of hand in training during those 3 years. Some of those fights were in the United States, etc--- so if anything at all you're guilty of not thinking.
And don't call me mate
