Or you can go "Wow Kambosos beat a welterweight weight bully at lightweight.". This is nonsense man. If the dude couldn't fight at lw then he should have moved up. This weight nonsense talk doesn't diminish the severity of the loss or the victory. Acctually in a sane world nobody would hold this loss against Teo since Teo has now participated in two back to back great fights. Looks like he is becoming a sure thing for a great fight, I think that I'm more interested really in seeing who Teo fights next than Kam regardless of who won.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑29 Nov 2021, 07:51No excuses. He either learns to manage his weight better or he moves to a heavier weight class.
He looked physically the bigger and stronger fighter.
Don't give me weight excuses he looked perfectly ok.
I can easily provide lots of links to articles from various media sources proving this.
In fact, anyone that knows how to use Google can find them within seconds.
I'm not intentionally undermining Kambosos' fine victory, but no one can seriously pretend that Teo wasn't weight drained and that it wasn't being discussed during fight-week.
And don’t forget, there’s two ways you can perceive the situation, either Kambosos defeated a weakened Lopez, or Teofimo’s lack of discipline to manage his own weight caused his own demise.
It's up to you whether you agree with the former or the latter, but regardless, you can’t seriously pretend that Teo's issues with his weight weren't heavily-discussed by the media during fight week.
Where does Teo go from here?

Teo’s weight issues were discussed before his loss.
Those are two facts you can’t refute.
Kambosos beat Lopez and deserves praise for doing so. He did what he had to do, beating the man he was matched against.
But Teo was weight drained. And his weight issues have been discussed by this forum on numerous occasions.

Re: Where does Teo go from here?
he was close to passing out at the weigh in. mimic out of control and shit. if weight is an issue at 135 and it obviously is, he should move up. period.
he should also put his frikkin hands up at times, especially after getting hit all night with the overhand right.
he's way too cocky. he's also headhunting, relying too much on his power, single shots from too far out.
no excuses. kambosos delivered an amazing performance. beat him fair & square.
he's the king of the division now.
the better man won on the night.

But no. In Eo's head any fighter can before a fight start bitching about making weight and thereby have the loss deleted from their record...... why do fighters make weight instead of competing at a comfortable weight? Isn't it to gain an advantage based on size? Are you saying that if Teo would have won that folks should be saying "ah he was much bigger than Kam so it doesn't count"?
Re: Where does Teo go from here?
Totally agree.slappy wrote: ↑28 Nov 2021, 23:49 The hard for Teo is that the fighters at 140 do what Kambosos does but even better.
Kam gave him fits with speed, funky angles and timing. Taylor is like a better version of Kam. And Prog is basically all angles but with power.
None of it may matter if the weight drain was the big factor. But I suspect the fighters at 140 may give him trouble.
That extra 5 pounds isn't going to help Teo against the likes of Taylor or Prograis.
Taylor was not shy in saying how hard Reggie hits.
Re: Where does Teo go from here?
Gently push his father aside and get a different coach. Rematch with kambosos is a must in his future. Do it soon! Take the fuckin B Side homie
Re: Where does Teo go from here?
If he had to move up to 140, what about Ramirez?
I know there are no belts attached, but style wise, it seems to me to be a fan friendly fight?

Re: Where does Teo go from here?
What makes the most sense to me is Prograis. A win would set up a fight with Taylor.

5 lbs when you are cutting hard can make a big difference in terms of strength and stamina, as well as mentally.KiwiRider wrote: ↑29 Nov 2021, 14:00Totally agree.slappy wrote: ↑28 Nov 2021, 23:49 The hard for Teo is that the fighters at 140 do what Kambosos does but even better.

Re: Where does Teo go from here?
Reggie is working his way back to a rematch with Taylor, that seems to be his whole focus.
I doubt he has much interest in Lopez unless it's a big money offer that doesn't impinge on his mandatory availability for Taylor. No way does Lopez bring that sort of money now.
Lopez will be dropped like a cold potato, imagine what a nightmare him and his dad are to deal with right now?
Re: Where does Teo go from here?
Win or lose Teo doesn't need to retire. He's just getting started. Good match thoughFightdoctor wrote: ↑28 Nov 2021, 16:48Danny Garcia is a welterweight who after losing to Spence is considering moving up to 154lbs. Ryan Garcia is still on the shrink's couch. Who knows when or if he will box again. And I don't think he would take a fight at 140lbs against the recent undisputed lightweight champ in his first fight back, especially since he hasn't fought any top guys at lightweight. I would mind seeing Teo fight Mikey Garcia. Loser retires.H8Usernames wrote: ↑28 Nov 2021, 15:46 I think that he should fight Ryan Garcia or Danny Garcia. Both would be interesting fights.

Didn't Prograis offer to replace Tank's opponent a few months back? Doesnt seem like he's taking a safe route. Tank may be the best at 135, despite no belt.KiwiRider wrote: ↑29 Nov 2021, 15:49Reggie is working his way back to a rematch with Taylor, that seems to be his whole focus.

Re: Where does Teo go from here?
Wasn’t Teo determined that win/lose would be his last fight at that weight?. He should stick to that.
He needs to change trainer to a more focused/professional outfit and learn a bit of humility without losing that touch of sadism.
It’s a setback but could work in his favour long term if he can learn from it and use it as a catalyst to make the necessary changes.
It was predicted that COVID may affect him next time out and so it proved.

Re: Where does Teo go from here?
Teo SHOULD still be undefeated and SHOULD still have the mad buzz that he had following him for the last 2 years. There’s no doubt in my mind that had he approached this fight correctly and respectfully, he would have clearly beaten GK.
His decision to come out like that in Rnd 1 and to make his prediction (& personal bets I’m sure)come true was so foolish. Especially after struggling to make the weight, if he doesn’t get him out of there, that then makes the night ten times harder. How he finished that fight is pretty stunning to me bc those are the types of decisions that end in KO. His defense was gone for rest of fight and his face showed the effects of that. GK is a pro boxer. You can’t be that ignorant with a solid pro and get away with it.

How would a Teofimo Lopez vs Mario Barios matchup at 140 lbs sound to you guys?

If Teo wants to be successful in boxing going forward he needs to grow up fast, restructure his team, respect the art of boxing, and focus on the fight in front of him. That is a daunting set of tasks given Teo’s maturity level at this time.

What division can Teo grow into eventually? No matter where he goes he's going to be a handful still. The Trainer issue needs fixing but otherwise he'll be fine and will sell tickets, even if it's because of the circus and madness he now brings.

No way would they let him near Tank, it may as well have been AJ putting his name in.
Re: Where does Teo go from here?
Does anyone else find it ironic what’s happened to some of these entitled Instagrammers and YouTubers so far this year?
Ryan Garcia gets dropped by LC in a fight that he saw as his gingerly walk in the stardust.
Haney gets clipped and fought the rest of the night on Bambi legs excessively hugging his way to the final bell.
Then Teo gets dropped and is currently demonstrating the fastest fall from grace ever seen in the sport of Boxing.
Maybe it’s this generation of yappers who sit back believing everything that their followers cascade them with in hopes of a reply or a mention. Either way, I don’t like today’s boxers hitting social media like they do. They message fight like children with zero respect to each other’s craft. Im hoping that we see a lot more of these dopes put in their places.

Be honest, most of us didn't expect George to be that good, but he was and more.
Weight issues didn't play into this at all.
Kambosos was razor sharp survived a knockdown and beat Teo in his own back yard legitimately, that's it.

Re: Where does Teo go from here?
I'm surprised that more people aren't calling for a Mikey Garcia vs Teofimo Lopez fight. Mikey has gone his whole career without a signature win practically but looks like quality, his loss at ww showed that it's not the right division for him and that he should head back down. Teo has participated in two of the most entertaining fights put on lately so win lose or draw vs Mikey it would probably be a great event to watch and with a win Teo would establish himself as someone to beat at jrww.
Re: Where does Teo go from here?
Hardly Teo or any other top fighter will take a risk of facing Garcia after Mikey's recent hiatus and a loss. Teo will want the shot at the upper weight instead.H8Usernames wrote: ↑01 Dec 2021, 06:23 I'm surprised that more people aren't calling for a Mikey Garcia vs Teofimo Lopez fight. I'm a big fan of Teo's. Two great fights in a row, practically nobody else does that these days. Some fighters even go their whole careers without ever participating in great fights.
