Teofimo Lopez's dad texts Eddie Hearn blaming him for George Kambosos defeat
Teofimo Lopez's father blamed Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn for his son's split-decision loss to George Kambosos Jr last weekend.
And Hearn said Lopez's father texted him blaming him and DAZN for his son's loss to Kambosos.
"I feel for him, I know his dad seems to want to blame me for the fact that he lost," Hearn told Boxing Social.
"It sort of comes with the territory I guess, but he deserves a lot of credit because he showed a lot of heart as well."
Teofimo Lopez lost to George Kambosos
"About a week ago it was the best thing he [Lopez] ever done coming to DAZN. All of a sudden he lost a decision that everybody thought he lost and it was my fault and DAZN's fault.
"You can't reason with someone like that. He called me a couple of times and he messaged me saying he can't believe what I did.
"I said 'listen, we treated you with unbelievable respect'. I love Teofimo, I love his dad, good people. But you have to move away from delusion."
Lopez Sr said after the fight he made a mistake in not moving his son up a weight class sooner, targeting a clash with undisputed 140lb champion Josh Taylor next.
Taylor - who has expressed his plans of moving up to 147lbs - is scheduled to defend his undisputed titles against undefeated Jack Catterall in Glasgow this February.
And Hearn thinks Lopez will be unable to learn from his mistakes if he continues to follow the advice of his father
"He has to lead his son and if Teofimo Sr is saying that sort of stuff, how do you expect your son to learn and reflect on what happened," he continued.
"You got beat, it's no disgrace. Take it on the chin, come again. You're an amazing fighter, he'll be back and become a world champion again.
"If you're listening to that, and that's the same thing for the corner work, if you're listening to delusion or bad instructions, how do you expect to change or adapt.
"Just read, look at polls look at anyone who watched the fight. It was a good fight, it was a close fight. Virtually everyone had Kambosos winning that fight. Take it on the chin, move on and dust yourself down."

This is Wilder levels of delusion. Someone needs to sit Junior down and say that he needs someone sensible around him.

Wow.
It's like Teo and poppa Lopez haven't watched the fight back.
It's like they haven't gone on line and seen independent scorecards.
Its as if Teo didn't see the lack of recognition in his mother's eyes when she saw his unrecognisable face after the fight.
It's like the lions in the camp ate all the logic.
Eddie is cool about it though, I would be laughing down the phone at Teo.
Sure he may be world champion again, but probably not at SLW, and probably not with that attitude.

Not that he was humble afterwards tho .

George Chuvalo more like, what a chin on this kid ! that first round was the eye poppin round of the year for me, Kambo survived some huge hits in a barnstorming start by Teo, then landed a right hand himself like the crack of doom.
What a fighter, what a heart, what a fricking surprise !!

He reveres his dad ,, his dads a fooookwit , his loyalty to his dad will cost him a good carreer and millions of dollars,, but its his dad , and your talking about a foookwit who bragged about bei ng involved in petty crime , has a way to boost his own self worth and gain respect ,, that alone tells you the guy is a dimwit ,, look at the pre fight interview with Eddie and the dad looking all doey eyed at eddie , licking eddies arse , and that gives you an insight inro the mentality , stupidity and out and out dumbness of this idiot.. Its a shame for Lopez because he has the skills just a good son listening to a self indulged ego freak

Yep, Teofimo needs to get a grip on things if he is to fulfil his full potential.
There's one thing thinking you're the best, but another if you're too deluded to address where you went wrong in a fight.

There was controversy around McClellans trainer iirc wasn't he a latecomer brought in by Don King or something?? I do remember him quoting McClellan on the corner "Man that water your pouring on me feels like it's going into my skull". Scary stuff

The sad thing is that McClellan had Stewart in his corner and elected to go his own way. He should have kept himself Kronk. I think the first Julian Jackson fight took a lot out of him. Nobody took flush punches from Julian and remained upright except for Gerald. Some of those shots were absolute haymakers and they were bouncing off McClellans chin while he walked Jackson down and beat him up. In hindsight it must have had some effect.

Regarding the fight, Lopez really believed his own hype. I read somewhere that Kambosos has sparred over 300 rounds with Pac at the wild card. I think he's used to someone coming at him with speed. Lopez dad was saying "you better KO this kid in one round" in a pre fight video I saw. It just looked like a terrible set up. Most people including myself predicted an early stoppage for Teo so we all fell for the hype. I think I thought Selby nicked that Kambosos fight.

Yep exactly right, his outside the ring turmoil reminds me a bit of Tyson in his heyday….and speaking of shambolic corner work, Tysons crew for the Douglas fight were pretty awful. Seem to recall they forgot to bring an endswell..coneye wrote: ↑02 Dec 2021, 23:36 He reveres his dad ,, his dads a fooookwit , his loyalty to his dad will cost him a good carreer and millions of dollars,, but its his dad , and your talking about a foookwit who bragged about bei ng involved in petty crime , has a way to boost his own self worth and gain respect ,, that alone tells you the guy is a dimwit ,, look at the pre fight interview with Eddie and the dad looking all doey eyed at eddie , licking eddies arse , and that gives you an insight inro the mentality , stupidity and out and out dumbness of this idiot.. i thought teo would win this defo too, but for sure i thought kambo won the selby fight. that was a classic example of a guy fooling ppl into thinking he's 'outboxing' someone by throwing a bunch of air jabs and pulled shots from too far away. selby must've seriously landed like 5 percent of his jabs in that one and that was mostly all he threw. kambo had him timed and was more accurate and landed better
116-112 type of win, glad the right man got it. the credit some ppl will give air jabbing is one of my pet peeves
