"Makabu will crush Canelo's orbital" & other possible results
This is Canelo's most dangerous fight. Lets talk about what could happen.
How will Makabu beat Canelo? Whether you want Canelo to win or not, if Makabu wins, how do you see it happening?
Realistically, there may be many ways it could happen, but I see WIDE HOOKS to the Body... that Canelo will not be able to absorb even through the guard/arms.

Re: Makabu will crush Canelo's orbital
No, he'll crush his thpinal.
Re: Makabu will crush Canelo's orbital
It's an "eye catching" title, eh?
Thread title is for thread title purposes only, not my prediction.
But I see Makabu's shots breaking through Canelo's guard.... I see the wide body shots... I see the overall pounding wearing Canelo down. A crushed orbital... it's in the realm of possibilities, but broken ribs are more likely.

Ok, it’s a possibility. You picked McGreggor over Mayweather right?USMCer wrote: ↑24 Nov 2021, 16:37It's an "eye catching" title, eh?

How high is this guy? I’m jealous, I can’t get high like that anymore in my old age.
But please tell me that we really don’t have site members seriously thinking that Makabu has a legitimate shot at defeating Canelo.
Let’s all be smart here. I was mad initially but Canelo deserves to take one off here and acquire some unique trinkets. With arguably the greatest resume in the history of Boxing already, I’ll shut my mouth about this one. But guys, please. Let’s not try to engage in any serious conversations regarding this fight. There’s absolutely no way Canelo doesn’t win by brutal knockout in this one.

Re: "Makabu will crush Canelo's orbital" & other possible results
I think Makabu is a decent chance. People act like because canelo has moved up he is experenced beating bigger guys... But has canelo ever been outweighed by 10lbs or more? i dont think so, this fight he probably will, vs a guy that isnt the best at the weight, but is still solid and prime, not a weathered Kov like his only other time above 168...caldo2025 wrote: ↑24 Nov 2021, 19:11 How high is this guy? People say that Makabu got stopped by bellew, sure, but that was a 210lb bellew steaming fowards through him. not how anyone expects canelo to fight this fight, so how much do you read into that?
Canelo has power, and its imprtant to his game, but does he have cruiserweight power? Canelo also has a chin thats important to his game, but does he have a cruiserweight chin?
Too many unknowns to say its a forgone conclusion, id have canelo a favorite, but there simply isnt enough info on canelo above 168 to make decisive verdicts.

For comparison:
+600 Plant (Bovada, Nov 5)
+450 Saunders(Bovada, May 8)
+200 Golovkin III (BetOnline, Mar 2020)
At least take the opportunity to analyze how Makabu could be most effective, etc.
@ caldo2025 Wow, you're such an expert, you should be all over these betting odds, if you think it's such a "LOCK". Money talks, guy.
Re: "Makabu will crush Canelo's orbital" & other possible results
Yeah, Makabu is not some lumbering 'big guy'. He has a compact build, dense. He packs power. He's slower than what Canelo has seen before, but it's a give and take; speed vs power. Makabu has clubbing shots.gregregegg wrote: ↑24 Nov 2021, 19:45I think Makabu is a decent chance. People act like because canelo has moved up he is experenced beating bigger guys... And where are all of these "experts" that say "there are weight classes for a reason"? Is Canelo exempt? Doesn't apply for Canelo because...???
Re: Makabu will crush Canelo's orbital
Wishful thinking. That whole build-up, the Boxing world being rattled, it was fun as fcuk.
Anyway, in this case, I want Canelo to win. But I'd say its close to a 50/50. Right now I'm entertaining how I see Makabu getting it done.
Re: "Makabu will crush Canelo's orbital" & other possible results
I’m happy for Makabu. He will make more money here than he’s made in his career accumulatively. But the fight is a joke. If you don’t see that then you are just the fan this joke fight will be marketed towards. So good for you. And I’ll be betting the fight, don’t worry about me.USMCer wrote: ↑24 Nov 2021, 22:30Odds opened at +300 Makabu versus Canelocaldo2025 wrote: ↑24 Nov 2021, 19:11 How high is this guy? Canelo is a beast. He’d have a fighting chance against any fighter on the planet right now regardless of the weight class. He’s not losing to Makabu. He’s gonna makabooboo
Re: "Makabu will crush Canelo's orbital" & other possible results
This will obviously be Canelos most dangerous fight. I see Canelo stopping him with body shots
Re: "Makabu will crush Canelo's orbital" & other possible results
Canelo is up there at Cruiser to PROVE just how good he is. He's not just talking about it.caldo2025 wrote: ↑27 Nov 2021, 22:33I’m happy for Makabu. Makabu is not slow and lumbering. Dude looks fluid... compact, strong... quick, mobile for his size. This is anything but a joke of a fight. It's a challenge that is rarely undertaken.
Watch Makabu, tell me who he reminds you of... his movement, the rolled shoulders, the bobbing, the frame and size...
Re: "Makabu will crush Canelo's orbital" & other possible results
The first thing that I did was pull up video on Makabu bc I hadn’t a clue who he was. I was rolling my eyes soon after hitting the play button.USMCer wrote: ↑28 Nov 2021, 18:24Canelo is up there at Cruiser to PROVE just how good he is. This guy may look like Tyson against horrible opposition on his resume but we’re talking about Canelo here. Canelo’s blueprint will remain in this one….he will be pressing forth from opening bell but this one is going to be super quick and ends within 4 rounds. No doubt in my mind or wallet.
Again, Canelo deserves one of these fights so I’m not trying to torch him about it. He’s clearly stated that he wants to be considered the greatest Mexican Boxer ever and with adding this divisional title to his trophy room, he should have that. It’s definitely low hanging fruit though and not as admirable a test which somewhat diminishes the feet in my eyes along with other knowledgeable fans of the sport.
Re: "Makabu will crush Canelo's orbital" & other possible results
Makabu's size, movement, mechanics, reminded me most of Joe Frazier, first time watching him.caldo2025 wrote: ↑30 Nov 2021, 10:55The first thing that I did was pull up video on Makabu bc I hadn’t a clue who he was. **Not saying he's as good or exactly like him**
Not fast, not slow, but quick... powerful wide shots, hooks and overhands... fluid offense/defense... the bobbing and exploding/countering... not tall, compact and powerfully built.
Keys to the fight:
Canelo has the uppercut to hurt Makabu, but he'll need to get his timing down. In the meantime, Makabu has the power and size to hurt Canelo. Watch the WIDE SHOTS, high and low (but esp to the body) he'll drop Canelo with that.
You people are being silly with the notion that Canelo is taking a fight off or something. You people are "fans" who get sucked into that kind of thinking. You never heard of Makabu before so therefore he cant be a threat? Cruiserweighth is a 'dead' division, yet the CW Champ just went up and beat the Heavyweight Champ. I hadn't heard of Makabu either, but that doesn't mean he's not a threat in this matchup.

It’s going to be funny to see the posts once Makabu doesn’t win his fight even though he’s already beaten this guy. I’m laughing alreadyUSMCer wrote: ↑03 Dec 2021, 20:23Makabu's size, movement, mechanics, reminded me most of Joe Frazier, first time watching him.caldo2025 wrote: ↑30 Nov 2021, 10:55The first thing that I did was pull up video on Makabu bc I hadn’t a clue who he was.
