Prime vs prime, 15 rounds.

Who, how, why?

Logic would tell you that Walcott would dance rings around Max Baer and win comfortably, but Baer was so strong and so reckless with such a long reach that he would have to be a live underdog throughout the contest.

I can see Walcott being dumped on his butt or having to weather a storm or two. Especially if it is the Max Baer who brought his A+ game against people like Max Schmeling, Primo Carnera, and Tony Galento.

Either Walcott out-box and counter Baer with good jabs and combinations or Baer would swarm Walcott in the later rounds and knocking him out late.

Walcott definitely was a more advanced boxer, with superior speed, technique, movement and ring IQ. Both of them could hurt each other badly. It's easy to see Walcott outboxing Baer, but it's impossible to write Max off completely. Well-prepared and motivated Baer destroyed the good technician Schmeling, so he would be dangerous for the likes of Jersey Joe. I see Walcott outboxing Baer to a decision win, but the KO upset by Max wouldn't be surprising.

Walcott outboxes Baer more often than not. Baer catches him and stops him every once in a while if they fight multiple times, but Walcott would win usually.
