Where does Jo Jo go from here?

Post by bobcatbox »

An Olympian and former world champion. He’s only 29 and has a young family. Plenty of talent. Seems to be on the right track despite this loss. I’m hoping he sticks around and fights some of the other top guys at 135. Diaz vs Ryan Garcia makes for a really great fight.

the garcia fights still makeable and makes sense. he's a credible enough test still for garcia and garcia's team prob aint looking straight for an elite guy once ryan's back from mental health hiatus. they are both mex americans from southern cali i believe, should be a decently popular local fight

plus theyre both dazn fighters, or at least appear there regularly. seems like it would be easy to make

Jo Jo should be too good to be used as a gatekeeper/benchmark fighter, but he is perfect for it. Tough, dosent hit hard, beatable. Id like to see shakur fight him first fight at 135 whenever he moves up. or id happily watch him in with any of the other top 135s again (mabey get a softer win first though).

Kambo, Loma, Big lips and Instagram king gotta sort it out between each other next. Diaz can fight someone of this bunch, if a one remains free, Loma or Garcia presumably. Maybe Commey or Linares, or some prospect.

I’m a fan of JoJo but also a realist. I’m. Surprised that he’s been able to win a world title. I’ve just never been a fan of his style or work rate. His power is average at best so I just see him as that classic overachiever. At 135, his deficiencies are more magnified imo. If I were one of his loved ones, I’d be advising him to walk away while he still has his faculties and hopefully he’s banked enough money away to start a new career doing something safer.
