UNDERCARD FIGHTS FROM HOLLYWOOD FIGHTS (UPDATE)
The opening bout of the night featured an entertaining featherweight match-up between Eilon Kedem, hailing all the way from Israel, against Angel Luis Torres from Manhattan.
Both fighters stood toe to toe and exchanged combinations until the final bell tolled. The result was an unpopular draw, with scores of 39-37 Torres, 39-37 Kaden, and 38-38.
Kedem’s record moves to 1-0-2, and Torres moves to 0-1-2. FightNews scored the bout 40-36 for Kedem, and the fans in attendance seemed to agree.
In the second fight of the night, Richard “El Tigre” Abril of Holguin, Cuba, brought his undefeated record into a match with “Flash” Flud Lawson of Citrus, Florida, who was making his pro debut.
It was a short debut for Lawson as Abril laid the orange crush on him and finished him with a barrage of punches.
Abril picks up his first career knockout and improves to 5-0 (1 KO) as Lawson goes back to Citrus with a record of 0-1.
The evening’s two walk-out bouts featured two local Miami brothers Felix Cepeda and Eliezer Cepeda.
In the first bout, middleweight Felix faced Jameson Bostic of Brooklyn. Bostic emerged the victor by majority decision, improving to 7-3. Cepeda fell to 7-2. Final scores were 59-55 twice and 57-57.
In junior middleweight action, Eliezer was matched against late sub Jesse Francisco. Cepeda was able to avenge his brother’s defeat in quick fashion by knocking Francisco out at 1:54 of the opening round.
Notably in the crowd were Angelo Dundee, Vernon Forrest, Shannon Briggs, Gerry Cooney, Jameel McCline, Glen Johnson, as well as three Russian NHL players including Valeri Bure, and Russian pop mega star Vlad Topalov.
