Ivan Dycho - slow hw career
It's easy to criticize from a sedentary position but I have to say Ivan Dycho's slow progression as a pro is starting to annoy.
Two time Olympic bronze medallist, tall as a tree, we can only assume he isn't really bothered that much?
Ten fights in 4-5 years and with a average opp age of maybe 45 !!! He's now scheduled to fight lumbering Alexander Ustinov who was wiped out in 1 round by Sirenko in his last fight.
Frustrating stuff

Re: Ivan Dycho - slow hw career
Ivan Dychko has experienced issues with his promoters and manager.
He’s encountering similar career progression issues that Filip Hrgović is facing, albeit he’s inactive rather than constantly engaging in mismatches.
He’s not just sat at home doing nothing though, as he’s kept himself busy sparring the likes of Tyson Fury and other top heavyweights. He has also sparred against the likes of Wilder and Klitschko too, which means he's probably learned more inside the gym than from competing.
That said, Ivan Dychko will be engaging in his second outing within a five-month period when he faces the ghost of Aleksandr Ustinov next week.
Apparently he’s flying under the radar at the moment, and probably deserves to be ignored by fight fans, because he was inactive for a couple of years from 2019.

never forget how literally 2 or 3 body punches in amateur gloves from Joyce take out all of his steam in 3 round fight in Rio. Disgusting
Re: Ivan Dycho - slow hw career
Maybe he plans to be like Ustinov himself, to fight journeymen and cash out against contenders at the fall of the career.funso banjo baby wrote: ↑06 Dec 2021, 07:21 It's easy to criticize from a sedentary position but I have to say Ivan Dycho's slow progression as a pro is starting to annoy.

Terrible management/promotion. Too bad some HWs who had excellent potential are being ruined by poor opposition and inactivity.
That being said, Dychko has always been too slow-moving in the ring, he's no Vitali Klitschko.
Hrgovic had more potential, I'm not sure he still has though due to inactivity and weak opposition since 2018.
Haymon is doing an excellent job with Sanchez and Anderson. It was wise for Victor Faust to sign with him.
And the Canadian promoter is at least doing the best he can to keep Sirenko and Makhmudov active.

Re: Ivan Dycho - slow hw career
for a 6'9, well known, 2016 kazac olympic medalist to be 10-0 and not one real fight in late 2021 is pretty messed up. with the levle of oppisition he has been facing he should be 50-0 by now... but realisticaly he should just of worked through the gears and be nearish to 20-0 and highly ranked eying of elliminators/mandatorys/titleshots.

These guys have to self promote more.
1, learn good conversational english.
2, get on social media, go hard on content.
3, be seen outside the gym, events, openings etc.
4, get an influencer/hot girlfriend
5, send out regular comments and predictions on upcoming fights with boxing journalists.
6, be seen ringside at fights, be available for impromptu comments.
If your not pimping yourself out at every opportunity, your not going to get opportunities. Way of the modern world.

I like the comments of Perkin Warbeck and KiwiRider. It is all about promoting,
indeed. Need to have a good promoter but it is equally important to be proactive with medias and fans by making some noise on networks…just to be part of the conversation and entertaining. It is clearly mandatory if you are not a British or Yankee. Alen Babic is doing the job

Re: Ivan Dycho - slow hw career
that would help this tall guy out a lot. from the read of this thread ivan Dycho seems like he is a less talented version of Nikolai Valuev.oogiebe wrote: ↑07 Dec 2021, 00:05How about just getting in the ring and fighting?KiwiRider wrote: ↑06 Dec 2021, 16:31 These guys have to self promote more.

Re: Ivan Dycho - slow hw career
Thanks for the update Ruthie
Jeepers I thought Ustinov was retired. I had to check boxrec to make sure it wasn't another Ustinov
42 years old. Well that fits with the Dycho MO.
Far out, what a waste.

Re: Ivan Dycho - slow hw career
According to BoxRec, Aleksandr Ustinov is currently rated higher than all the opponents that Filip Hrgovic faced, barring the ghost of Amir Mansour.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑16 Dec 2021, 03:28 ustinov will be the big dyk's 2nd fight in 5 months, holy sh!t he's become so active![]()
I really can’t believe we’re seeing a lot of heavyweights that have been competing for more than four years (like Dychko, Hrgovic, Gassiev, McKean, Bryan etc.) constantly engaging in so many back-to-back hideously obscene mismatches!

Re: Ivan Dycho - slow hw career
ustniov at a career low 268 pounds, of course he left that until he was 45
it kinda looks like a guy beating up his uncle or something
bizarre ending

Re: Ivan Dycho - slow hw career
Does Ustinov get paid for that ?
Re: Ivan Dycho - slow hw career
What the hell was that? Ustinov got hit at the chest or something and the corner threw in the towel. Maybe he had a rib injury or stuff like that. Maybe they just waited for the moment with the first good punch in order to throw the towel and avoid an ending like in Ustinov's previous bout. Yet the punch didn't look too hard. Ustinov should receive a decent shot instead of a paycheck. If you're not ready, then don't enter the ring.
Re: Ivan Dycho - slow hw career
Dychko is going to have a career like Bogdan Dinu. Dinu is so sad because he obviously had talent, showed in the fight against Pulev. Dude just fought against crappy opposition his entire career that he didn't know what to do against an elite guy.

News is that Sirenko v Rudenko has also been a fixed fight this weekend.
Boxrec doesn't list the result
Apparently the ref has stepped in in the 6th for no reason whatsoever and awarded a tko win for Sirenko

Re: Ivan Dycho - slow hw career
Sir and Big Dyck could fight each other and put on a show, but instead they took part in fixed mismatches on the same day. That's all you need to know about how prospects are being tracked today.funso banjo baby wrote: ↑19 Dec 2021, 14:49 News is that Sirenko v Rudenko has also been a fixed fight this weekend.

Re: Ivan Dycho - slow hw career
my guess is that ustinov had an injury to the body going in, and shouldnt have been fighting at all, and that his corner ahead of time planned to throw in the towel as soon as he showed any problems there
