Eddie Hearn
So Eddie seems to be the most disliked person in US boxing outside of the fighters. Is he doing the right thing getting other promoters to really dislike him?
Ellerbe hates the mention of his name, repeatedly says ‘F*** Eddie Hearn’ when his name is mentioned and said he’d smack the shit out of him if he gets within 10 yards of him.
Bob Arum repeatedly says shit about him and he’s got beef with Espinoza too.
Yet the majority of fighters he works with in the US seem to really like him and several past and present fighters worked/work with him without the need for a contract.
It seems that Eddie opens himself up to interviews from anyone and everyone and when asked about other people he gives seemingly honest answers (like how it’s stupid for so many PPVs in the US). Is he doing the right thing by potentially ostracising himself from other deal makers?

Re: Eddie Hearn
DAZN and Matchroom are British-based companies that have invaded the American boxing market and have quickly and aggressively acquired a significant market share.
The increased competition, which must seem hostile to Top Rank & the PBC, has resulted in the erosion of PPV and advertising revenue, coupled with a general increase of fighters purses.
Eddie Hearn is also extremely media savvy and relishes every opportunity to convey his thoughts (via the sort of patter employed by used car salesmen) to the cameras.
He also forces his rivals to answer challenging questions, when he complains about the PBC and Top Rank being difficult to work with (i.e. he makes offers to their fighters which are often ignored).
So for Eddie's rivals, it’s easier to undermine his credibility (via insults) than directly addressing any of the uncomfortable truths he’s conveyed.

Re: Eddie Hearn
Arum works with him all the time. As does Lou Di Bella. Ellerbe is a TMT stooge not that significant if he has a beef with Eddie's personality.
Eddie is a wind-up merchant and very good at it. Doesn't stop him getting deals and fights made.

Re: Eddie Hearn
Haymon and Ellerbe don't like Hearn at all it seems and won't deal with him. The issue for Hearn is they have a massive stable in the US.
For PBC though, they have a large quantity of overhyped fighters not that much quality. And they are milking every last PPV penny as the model tanks.

Hearn seems to be a smart and outspoken promoter that its easy to work with him. If would be a pro fighter I'd sign with him and DAZN. Also Hearn doesn't seem to be shady like other promoters, etc.

They never did like him.
Who’s Ellerbe anyway?
Arum says shït but will work with Eddie, there’s no denying that. Hearn says shït about Arum, but he does respect him.
There was a time when Hearn used to make deals with PBC, but it’s more since he got with DAZN and started putting on US cards, and then trying to get some of the PBC to sign with him, it’s hit the fan.
I don’t think Hearn will lose any sleep over it.

Yes, that's it. Perhaps some jealousy too.

The last time I checked, the PBC had more top-ten world-rated fighters and world champions than any other stable.peter barlow wrote: ↑06 Dec 2021, 11:23For PBC though, they have a large quantity of overhyped fighters not that much quality.
I performed some research a couple of years or so ago and worked out (at the time) that the PBC stable had roughly 200 fighters, with fifty of them rated in the top ten of their respective divisions by ESPN and/or The RING, as well as 16 world champions possessing titles from the WBA/WBC/IBF/WBO.

If I performed a similar analysis today, the results won't be too dissimilar.
To be fair, if you take a look at the PBC's stable of welterweights, Al Haymon's matchmakers have orchestrated lots of decent bouts.

How many times has Demetrius Andrade faced any big name middleweights aligned with DAZN (i.e. Golovkin, Munguia, Jacobs & Canelo)?
What about Dmitry Bivol?
What about Filip Hrgovic?
These are DAZN guys and Eddie won't pit them against their fellow stablemates.
People simply don't fact check!

Re: Eddie Hearn
Eddie is just youngish, cocky, and a bit of a threat. He publicky shits on the 80 buck PPVs (fair), has aquired a decent stable and puts on plenty of shows (sometimes).
Every time someone subscribes to DAZN then it makes clashes with DAZN less ideal (especialy if your PPV clashes with there free (subscripton) show), I think they are acutly aware of this.
I dont think toprank are as scared as PBC becasuse toprank dont over do PPVs really. Bob and eddie feud but they dont mind eachother, just a mouthy brittish kid and a 90 year old man having a few funny disagreements.
A lesser thought of threat is if matchrooms stable and dazns subscriber base becomes super diveres they can win purse bids and drag fighters to weird spots... i hope it starts happening, fornicate USA home ground or brittish home ground. I want to see some big name PBC fighters lose a purse bid and end up in the hills of Dagastan or Chechnya fighting some russian dude...

Re: Eddie Hearn
What about Triller?
I haven't heard anyone really slagging them, except (mostly me) over the Lopez Kambosos debacle.

It will take a brave fighter to sign with Triller now. Tyson complained he didn’t get what he was owed for his fight, they lost a lot of money and had plenty of bad press for Holyfield fight and showed their incompetence with the Kambosos/Lopez fight.

Absolutely he is.
The fans shouldn't care that these parasitic cartel crooks have been bleeding the sport for decades.
As far as I'm aware, if there's a great fight to be made, Eddie Hearn is willing to make it.
His philosophy seems to be that everyone benefits from doing what's good for the fans.
And he's right.
Okay, so the fighters that lose (and their leeching entourages) might not be so pleased, but hey this is boxing, not pass the parcel!
There is a considerable risk involved, and so there should be.
For those who want a predictable risk free income stream, perhaps they should move into the experimental vaccine/masks business?
On second thoughts, perhaps not - the competition seems to be pretty savage there too.
And just as many dirty tricks it seems.
Anyway, Eddie is good for the sport.
Just take a look at Anthony Joshua's resume for confirmation.
These names all come to mind without prompting:
Dillian Whyte, Wladimir Klitschko, Carlos Takam, Joseph Parker, Alexander Povetkin, Andy Ruiz, Oleksander Usyk.
Re: Eddie Hearn
H. I admit it. I was at the Andrade fight and when he walked in, we turned into schoolgirls. The guy’s like 6’14”, has the absolute perfect amount of beard stubble at all times, perfect hair and has been putting great nights of Boxing together that I’ve enjoyed greatly.
Anyone against the fights that Eddie has been trying to put together can’t be a true fan of the sport. I love that he’s young, dynamic and growing his worth all over the globe in order to make the fights we want to see out of the boxers that also want what we want to see. Say that ten times fast. I dare ya.
In short, out of the boxers also wanting to fight the best, he’s giving us the best out of those clashes. Unfortunately, there are too many boxers uninterested in doing that (Tank/Floyd).
Re: Eddie Hearn
Can't stand Eddeh, however; he's a fantastic promoter. Don't really like any promoter outside Hayman.

If Anthony Joshua was a Top Rank fighter he would have won the fight vs Usyk by decision.
If he was with Don King he would have won by way of dq.
If he was with rip Universum he would have won by ko.

That's it right there.
Re: Eddie Hearn
When HBO bailed out of boxing, remember that.
Hearn revitalized boxing.
Yeah he's a cocky so and so but he's alright and spearheaded the revival of the sport in the UK Europe and North America.
Look at it then and look at it now and his contribution.
You can't touch him he's proved himself over and over again.
