Why is Sammy Reeson in prison?

Post by Boxingnut »

I read this whilst reading Steve Bunce's column in this month's Boxing Monthly but can't remember any details. Anyone else remember?

Likewise. He looked like he didn't want to be there. He did better than Johnny Nelson though, even if he was stopped...

Reeson in prison!!! :o

That's news to me does anyone here have anymore information on this?

I have the Reeson vs DeLeon fight on tape but haven't watched it for about 18 months or so. I remember watching the fight on TV and that I thought Reeson had a chance of winning if he really went for it. DeLeon was a good fighters and a clevere counterpuncher but was very, erratic a real hot and cold performer. I also remember that for that fight DeLeon really struggled to make the weight. But as others have said when fight time came Reeson just seemed to 'switch off'.

I often think with hindsight that Reeson lost his passion for the game when his original manager/trainer? was killed a while before the DeLeon fight.

On a side note Carlos DeLeons son turned professional recently and apparently is one to watch.
