I am questioning the importance of the issue. The middleweight division isnt that like the 4th or the 5th hottest division today? Isn't this Andrade fellow like the 4th or 5th best fighter in that division according to the numbers? And really a fringe fighter? Does it matter so much who he ducks or not?
I do this myself for any of the weight classes from 115lbs or lower.
However, I’ll answer your perfectly valid question…
Demetrius Andrade is being marketed as the most allegedly fearsome and avoided fighter competing today, but he’s rejected bouts against the following fighters: Jermell Charlo, Sergiy Derevyanchenko, Matt Korobov and Erislandy Lara.
And now it seems that Team Andrade are doing their upmost to avoid facing his mandatory challenger, Janibek Alimkhanuly.
But people are still naïvely buying into the “everyone is ducking Demetrius Andrade” marketing gimmick.
Is Demetrius Andrade ducking Janibek Alimkhanuly?

Re: Is Demetrius Andrade ducking Janibek Alimkhanuly?
Less than two weeks to go until the purse bid process commences for the Demetrius Andrade-Janibek Alimkhanuly bout.
Matchroom has maintained radio silence ever since Eddie Hearn admitted his reluctance to stage the fight, strongly suggesting that Andrade is likely to vacate his middleweight title to become the WBO mandatory at 168lbs.
If I look at the WBO rankings, assuming Demetrius Andrade does vacate his crown, will Eddie Hearn be promoting a bout involving one of his own fighters, Danny Dignum, and Janibek Alimkhanuly for the vacant title?
I've never heard of Danny Dignum.

I've never heard of Danny Dignum.
He was actually supposed to main event the recent MTK card which Isaac Lowe was on.

He must have been dropped by Matchroom a while back then (he's posted loads of Tweets thanking Eddie Hearn, and so I assumed they must have worked together at some point). And I rarely watch the fight cards broadcast by iFL TV.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑07 Dec 2021, 12:27Danny Dignum usually fights on IFL tv - MTK or D4G cards in Dubai usually.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑07 Dec 2021, 11:08

The only fighters rated by the WBO above Danny Dignum are Jaime Munguia and Esquiva Falcao, with the former going down the WBC route, and the latter chasing an IBF title fight.
So Danny Dignum might receive a world title shot soon. And I've never heard of him.
But thanks for the heads-up, if he's ordered to face Alimkhanuly, then at least I'll know how to watch some of his fights to determine whether he's any good or not.
Re: Is Demetrius Andrade ducking Janibek Alimkhanuly?
For Andrade, it's basically a lose, lose situation. If he fights Alimkhaunuly and wins, then what? He still won't get Charlo, GGG, or Canelo, Mungia, Murata, Eubank Jr, since they all turned him down. He'll be right where he is, because honestly Alimkhaunuly isn't a known name even among a lot of hardcore fans, unless you followed amateurs closely.
Move up to 168, go for the belt that will be vacated, and get better fights there. Get a fight with Benevidez, or another top guy there.

Re: Is Demetrius Andrade ducking Janibek Alimkhanuly?
What a useless, stupid thread. One guy obsessed with Andrade arguing with himself and other people with time to waste making a derogatory post. Guess which category I belong to? Does anyone care what Andrade does besides EO and Eddie Hearn? At least Eddie Hearn has an excuse, he's trying to pimp some money off the man. EO sounds like a disgruntled client.
I can't remember the last time I saw Andrade fight. I know I have, I know I wasn't particularly impressed, but I can't remember who he was fighting. I don't understand who his fans would be, or why they would exist. They're probably bots.
On another note all this talk of ducking is very wrestling-esque. And Kafkaesque. False narratives, people trying to rile other people up, getting excited about who is most least interested in fighting. Endless babble about how a mediocre talent who won an ABC lottery for a belt ducked who, and why, instead of watching and talking about fights. I guess there's nothing better to do because it takes years of negotiations and machinations to make the fight happen.
My posts seem to be downers lately but every time I read a thread or write a post it hammers home what a miserable dying sport boxing is. Outside of it's place and time and dying of greed and hubris. The endless blabbing and arguing about 'ducking' is another nail in the coffin. I'm off to find my bottle of Johnnie Walker red label.

You could have ignored it rather than moaning like a juvenile clown!
Put it this way, if someone had created a thread about Victorio Saludar’s upcoming WBA world 105lbs title defence against Erick Rosa, then I would have ignored it!
I wouldn’t have laboured over a lengthy War & Peace sized post complaining about it! FFS!
The purpose of the ‘Current Scene’ board is to discuss the most recent noteworthy issues surrounding boxing... and this is one of them.
Eddie Hearn has already admitted he doesn’t want Andrade to face Alimkhanuly. And there are various websites and YouTube videos claiming that Demetrius is going to duck his mandatory challenger.
Do you not understand the reason why someone would want to talk about it?
And if not, why didn’t you ignore the thread instead of posting a very lengthy post complaining about it?
You write a lot of words for someone that pretends to be disinterested!!!

Perhaps if the OP used as much energy and research to promote a certain boxer, instead of denigrating them, people would take them more serious. No one like's negative posts, over and over, just to spark an argument. (troll) It's not hard to do for normal boxing fans, and normal folks.

On a side note, considering you’ve been claiming certain fighters have been ducking Demetrius Andrade, would you continue to defend Boo Boo if he ducks Janibek Alimkhanuly, because after all, you surely have to apply your moral standards consistently?

Thereverend made a good point about the negative impact words have on the sport, which is better said than what I was trying to tell you. Thereverend expressed his disappointment about people constantly using the words “duck” or “ducking”.
If I use the BoxRec search engine against your username, coupled with the words “duck” or “ducking”, it returns 83 posts, the majority of which were comments you wrote and then posted that included those words.
Are you seriously trying to pretend you don’t regularly use those two words you currently deem to have a negative impact on the sport?
It’s kind of funny watching others attempting to take the moral high-ground, but are undermined by their own words!

"I am undefeated and a two-time world champion. Golovkin went through a period where nobody wanted to fight him. I am that guy now -- the man nobody wants to fight!!!" Andrade said.
Jermell Charlo: Hi Boo Boo, will you fight me?
Demetrius Andrade: Nope!

Demetrius Andrade: Nope!
Janibek Alimkhanuly: Hi Boo Boo, will you defend your title against me?
Eddie Hearn: Probably not. Andrade might vacate and move up to 168lbs.
Isn’t it a crying shame that “no one” wants to fight Demetrius Andrade? Is Boo Boo taking career advice from the allegedly fearsome Luis ‘King Kong’ Ortiz?

Re: Is Demetrius Andrade ducking Janibek Alimkhanuly?
We’re only a week away from the WBO’s deadline for Demetrius Andrade and Zhanibek Alimkhanuly to successfully negotiate and agree terms for a mandatory title defence.
If Eddie Hearn and Bob Arum fail to reach an agreement, then the purse bid process will commence (with the minimum bid at $200K).
For the record, I want to be wrong! I would prefer to see Andrade face Alimkhanuly rather than vacating (again), making the jump to 168lbs and facing even more no-hopers.

Re: Is Demetrius Andrade ducking Janibek Alimkhanuly?
The WBO has ordered a purse bid for the mandatory fight between middleweight world champion Demetrius Andrade and unbeaten challenger Zhanibek Alimkhanuly.
The purse bid process is scheduled for the 15th January.
Three weeks ago, Eddie Hearn stated the following:
“So now I’m in a situation where I’ve got to be creative. I don’t know what I’m going to do yet.
“Maybe Andrade moves up to 168lbs and becomes the mandatory as a WBO world champion.
“But we’ve got to do something, because we can’t fight that [Andrade- Alimkhanuly] fight!”
I really don't think Top Rank and Matchroom even attempted to avoid the purse bid.
Anyway, I could be wrong, and I hope I am, but it seems likely that Andrade will vacate his WBO middleweight title before the 15th January.

Andrade has definitely been ducking Zhanibek Alimkhanuly, not to mention Andrii Velikovskyi and Fiodor Czerkaszyn; all of which are fights that the public has been clamoring for basically his whole career. Not a week goes by that people don't ask "Why is Andrade calling out Charlo? Why isn't he fighting Alimkhanuly? Why is he avoiding Velikovskyi? Is he afraid of Czerkaszyn? What's he got against Serhii Bohachuk? When will he fight a real opponent?"

And in Boo Boo’s case, he isn’t a super WBO champion, meaning it shouldn’t happen.
That said, we’ve often seen the WBO make dodgy decisions in the past, so they could break their own rules specifically to please Eddie Hearn.

If Andrade fought him, he’d be the highest-rated most accomplished opponent he’s faced at 160lbs.
You probably need to google him if you can’t be bothered to read my posts.
When Charlo and Andrade make the jump to 168lbs, I reckon Zhanibek Alimkhanuly could easily become a future middleweight titleholder.
Put it this way, back in 2008, nobody knew who GGG was, even though he was highly-rated by the sports’ governing bodies… and Alimkhanuly‘s status, resume and accomplishments almost perfectly mirror Golovkin’s back then.
For the record, I’m not suggesting that Alimkhanuly is the next GGG, but he does appear to be very good indeed.
