15 Rounds Heavyweight Bout
Norton would overwhelm Terrell, who would fight to survive by jabbing and holding him, but Norton would wear him down behind his awkward crab shell defense as he parried his jabs with his own, body punches, right hands and left hooks as Norton would either stop Terrell in the late rounds or decision him. What do you guys think and who do you got?
Heavyweights: Ken Norton vs. Ernie Terrell

Norton was a much more masterful operator. It's hard to see it going for Terrell anyhow.

Actually, Terrell fought Ali in 1967 not 1966, but I agreed how Norton would get the better of Terrell and decisioning him at best.Joe.Kelly wrote: ↑11 Dec 2021, 15:39 Norton was a much better fighter than Terrell. He definitely wins this fight big. Ernie would make a fight of it in the early rounds, but by the mid-rounds Kenny would be in full control.
Norton wins, and by a wide margin. The only question is whether he could stop Terrell. Ernie had a pretty good defensive shell,; he wasn't easy to hit when he covered his head and torso with his long arms and gloves. So maybe Terrell would do the full distance.
On the subject of Terrell, everybody says that Ali carried him in their 1966 bout. They say Ali could have finished Terrell off anytime. I don't believe that. IMO, Terrell's defensive shell could not be penetrated by Ali's right hands and blazing fast combos. I really think that Terrell lasted the distance because Ali was not capable of knocking him out.
