Round-by-Round: Conor Benn vs. Chris Algieri | DAZN - 11 December 2021
Re: Round-by-Round: Conor Benn vs. Chris Algieri | DAZN - 11 December 2021
Benn is always going on like he doesn't get respect, fck sake man you gonna get a few ppl who might not like you but all who know boxing respects him now,at first we where all sceptical because he is a british legends son but he has had respect for his last 3 or 4 fights from fight fans,if he doesn't like criticism then take your ass off social media.

He always sounds so pissed off in the post fight interviews. It’s very annoying.TheGman wrote: ↑12 Dec 2021, 11:06 Benn is always going on like he doesn't get respect, fck sake man you gonna get a few ppl who might not like you but all who know boxing respects him now,at first we where all sceptical because he is a british legends son but he has had respect for his last 3 or 4 fights from fight fans,if he doesn't like criticism then take your ass off social media.
He needs someone who will knock him out.
Had he lost early in his career, maybe the Peynaud fight, maybe he’d act different as he wouldn’t have his ‘0’..
Re: Round-by-Round: Conor Benn vs. Chris Algieri | DAZN - 11 December 2021
Everyone who knows him who is in the know says how hard he works etc etc so what does it matter what anyone else thinks? He is a good boxer with a ton of talent but he just seems like he thinks the whole world is against him.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑12 Dec 2021, 12:33He always sounds so pissed off in the post fight interviews. Only thing I thought was disrespectful was him and his old man in the ring screaming like two cave men whilst Algieri hadn't even moved. Keep Nigel out the ring till the ref has declared the winner,he has no business jumping into the ring like that.

And that right there is why he rubs people up the wrong way. What if Algieri never got up, you have clear footage of Benn 1&2 doing that for the news broadcast about another boxing tragedy.TheGman wrote: ↑12 Dec 2021, 12:50Everyone who knows him who is in the know says how hard he works etc etc so what does it matter what anyone else thinks? It's arsehole behaviour. Negates all the hard work he does in the gym within 20 seconds in front of the cameras.

He talks about "don't confuse arrogance with confidence" if he knows how good he is and how far he will go then he wouldn't of jumped around the ring acting like he just won the lottery,he would be composed and PROFESSIONAL about his victory.KiwiRider wrote: ↑12 Dec 2021, 12:56And that right there is why he rubs people up the wrong way. Re: Round-by-Round: Conor Benn vs. Chris Algieri | DAZN - 11 December 2021
Total opposite from the pair of clowns where doing last night, the ref had to go up and tell them that Algieri hadn't hot up yet and to calm it down, this is why he gets negative press not from his boxing ability but from him acting like an idiot after the fight
Re: Round-by-Round: Conor Benn vs. Chris Algieri | DAZN - 11 December 2021
No matter how good he is, or how good he gets, last night showed he is an arsehole with little regard for the lives of others. pair of shithouses both of them, compare that to how Lara acted when he flattened Warrington, can't wait for Benn to get flattened,it will come one day.You could see CB push the ref away after being told to quieten down, classless piece of shiteTheGman wrote: ↑12 Dec 2021, 13:11And who his supposed Christian changed man father is too,he hasn't changed since 1995 when he say so what when mcClelland was lying flat out in the corner, both are a pair of gobshites imo, loved nigel but he pisses me off now.KiwiRider wrote: ↑12 Dec 2021, 13:07No matter how good he is, or how good he gets, last night showed he is an arsehole with little regard for the lives of others. I always felt his dad needed a chip on his shoulder to be able to fight the way he did.

Ava is a solid European champion who is capable of picking up the hanging fruit on the world title tree.
Benn is being sold as a world champion in waiting so by that reckoning Ava is a step backwards.
Nevertheless Benn hasn't beaten anyone as good as Ava yet so it's a no win situation.
A backward step where he might lose in a fight which doesn't generate money.
Whereas on paper they sold Algeri as a better fighter, ex world champ, lost on points to Pac and Khan, only stopped by Spence, while the reality is that Ava would be a strong favourite against the American.
[/quote]
Exactly.
Some of the posters on here would make amazing promoters: "So is it Broner or the winner of Khan-Brook next for Connor?" "No. We're looking at Michael McKinson or Chris Kongo".

If he fights ava he will get outclassed,a mate of mine got offered a fight with ava a few years back but he didn't get the message for about 4 weeks, when he called his manager to ask why his manager didn't call him his words where "he didn't want any part of ava,he has seen him spar kell Brook and he gave kell Brook kittens" this was before kell won the title so it was years ago like.bigjack wrote: ↑12 Dec 2021, 13:35pair of shithouses both of them, compare that to how Lara acted when he flattened Warrington, can't wait for Benn to get flattened,it will come one day.You could see CB push the ref away after being told to quieten down, classless piece of shite

So Kell was better then and Ava not as good, proves why Benn never mentions his nameTheGman wrote: ↑12 Dec 2021, 14:03If he fights ava he will get outclassed,a mate of mine got offered a fight with ava a few years back but he didn't get the message for about 4 weeks, when he called his manager to ask why his manager didn't call him his words where "he didn't want any part of ava,he has seen him spar kell Brook and he gave kell Brook kittens" this was before kell won the title so it was years ago like.

No one with aspirations of world level wants that European strap now Ava has it.

Tbh if Benn got him early then he might get him out of there but anything after 3 rounds I'd fancy Avabigjack wrote: ↑12 Dec 2021, 14:06So Kell was better then and Ava not as good, proves why Benn never mentions his nameTheGman wrote: ↑12 Dec 2021, 14:03If he fights ava he will get outclassed,a mate of mine got offered a fight with ava a few years back but he didn't get the message for about 4 weeks, when he called his manager to ask why his manager didn't call him his words where "he didn't want any part of ava,he has seen him spar kell Brook and he gave kell Brook kittens" this was before kell won the title so it was years ago like.

I'd not seen much of him myself but saw enough when he beat Kelly to know he's a big threat to Benn and should be favouriteTheGman wrote: ↑12 Dec 2021, 16:11Ye mate,he is well known for how good he is,I was made up when he splatted josh kelly. Yeah, it’s something I find really interesting myself, I wonder if Chris asked Danny for sparring and he told him to stay in the kitchen…Ricky wrote: ↑11 Dec 2021, 18:47Delta Jay wrote: ↑11 Dec 2021, 18:38He’s a nutritionist, wrote books about it. He's certainly an interesting guy. Danny Jacobs hired him as his personal chef for a fight camp. I don't think he's ever been a natural fighter though. He was about 3 stone heavier than Pacquiao and got dropped 20 times.

That was for a Kell Brook show too.Delta Jay wrote: ↑11 Dec 2021, 18:37Yeah, I know for a fact several gyms around Liverpool got given a big load. There was a weird online offer for free tickets max 4 per person and some odd Twitter competitions where everyone who entered won.
Same thing happened with last sky card at Echo.
It’s good cos most of the tickets have actually gone to young kids from the gyms. It’s bad cos it means ticket sales are declining. Might be worth a thread itself, but I know it’s happened in Newcastle before too.
It’s a tough trade off for semi big shows like tonight’s. It’ll sell more than 5,000 but not sell out a big arena so I get why they give away a load of tickets. You just can’t do it too much in the same area as people then just wait for the freebies.
I’m one of those people!
Seriously tho, it’s not a bad idea to just leave it and wait til the day.
Another thing they do, they give away most of the tickets for one side of the Echo Arena, the one the cameras are facing. Makes it look fuller when it’s only half full.

Yeah. That’s always been the case for televised shows. Particularly happens in pro wrestling to give the aesthetic of a full house. At least we don’t have the piped in crowd noise (post lockdown at least) that they’ve had in WWE in recent years.Delta Jay wrote: ↑12 Dec 2021, 17:55maverick23 wrote: ↑11 Dec 2021, 18:42It’s been happening for years although there was a period where most Matchroom shows were selling out so it wasn’t needed but FW’s always done it and Matchroom have on shows where they’re not close to selling out. You’re absolutely right - scousers love a fight between 2 of their own. I remember the Smith/Dodson/Quigley fights doing well and then recently the Smith/Fowler fight selling out fairly quickly. It’s not like they had many/any big name scouse fighters on Saturday - Davies Jr and Peter McGrail being the main ones so to sell 6,000 plus the freebies is a pretty decent result considering it was a short window from announcement to fight date (just over 4 weeks I think).Delta Jay wrote: ↑12 Dec 2021, 18:21Here I thought I was being observant.
