Triad Boxing vs MMA

Post by JamesPhilips »

Anyone following this weirdness?
It’s in a triangle ring, and they can hold and hit. Apart from that it’s boxing.

Surely the MMA guys will get battered?

Mir vs Pulev
Briggs vs Rampage
Mitrione vs Alex Flores
Mike Perry vs Seals

All has beens but Surely the MMA guys haven’t got a chance here? The Rules are basically boxing with grabbing. No kicks, elbows or groundwork

As long as there isn't some gentleman's agreement to treat each other with kid gloves, I think Pulev will knock out Mir, and Briggs stop Rampage..

I read that Triad won the competition. Sounds intriguing this new discipline which mixes boxing with a bit of MMA. As long as it doesn't employ boxing promoters or go down the boxing route it has a chance to really take off I believe.

i would love to see Jake and Logan Paul beat down in these types of fights or even let them get owned in Lethwei matches. aka bareknuckle muay thai with legal headbutts

I'm very interested to see it.
It sounds like there are similarities to the London prize ring rules. I don't think grappling being allowed really would change the boxing style all that much, it's pretty hard to hold and hit somebody that doesn't leave you in a position to be hit at the same time or thrown over. More inside work being allowed could make for some good fights, it could also make for some really dull fights.

I think the biggest thing that would impact outcomes and/or styles is the triangle ring, it makes it that much harder to get out of the corner. That would be the only meaningful advantage I would give to the MMA guys. They could use grappling both offensively to bully someone into the corner and defensively if they're stuck in a corner.

Triad Combat is aimed at making those bouts 50-50 in equal favor of both the contenders
