Who's your #1 at 135?
Who's your #1 at 135?
What did we learn about the lightweight division the last few weeks?
What I learned is there isn't a front runner in the division. None of the top fighters stood out to the point we could say, (insert name) is the best in the division.
Based on overall performance and who he fought, it's hard to dispute that Kambosos doesn't deserve to be king of the LW division. He ultimately beat the man that beat the man. I can't get myself to back Kambosos as the guy who is capable of cleaning out the division though. I think Loma would out skill him to a decision, Haney most likely outboxes him, Tank would be a winnable fight if he can handle Tanks power and I'm not all that confident Kambosos could repeat his performance against Lopez if they were to rematch.
The division is still up in the air and too many fights to be made to sort everything out. Everyone I'm sure has their opinion on who they feel is best in the division, despite who may hold the belts, but I personally can't pick one out of the bunch with much confidence.

Re: Who's your #1 at 135?
Kambosos obviously. Although I'd pick Loma to win, if they fight next. But until then the Aussie is the champ and the Ukrainian has something to prove.

i dont think it was teo's speed, more like his combo of work rate and loma feeling dat strength. id take loma over kambo now, it would be more of a chess match counter punching affair that loma would be comfortable with compared to the teo fight.
i still got a woody for tank even though he had a tough one with cruz

Kambo obviously. He beat the man who beat the man. The rest of them are just top contenders that also are unproven.

i go hard, then soft for tank. its worth noting to the ppl who are down on him right now, that right before teo beat loma he looked poor vs nakatani...
Re: Who's your #1 at 135?
Oh, good point.
Dammit, I didn't think of that, so I voted Loma. Not sure speed is everything, even though Kambosos was throwing some sweet counters at Lopez.
I'm a Kambosos Jr fan from way back and earned my Christmas bonus betting on the guy, and yet I'm still going Loma
Re: Who's your #1 at 135?
That's fine to do that, because until he proves he is a top 135 by actually fighting one, you won't know for sure.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑14 Dec 2021, 12:56 i go hard, then soft for tank. its worth noting to the ppl who are down on him right now, that right before teo beat loma he looked poor vs nakatani...

Strategy counts too.
Lopez sat back and counter punched Loma whereas with Kambo he came out swinging for blood.
Relentlessly atacking a counter puncher is not always a good strategy.
Ask Nigel Benn.
He threw everything at Chris Eubank and found out the hard way just how tough Snr was.

Kambo is number 1. But for another year or 2 id have Loma favorite vs any of them. (id actualy have Kambo as underdog vs all of them).

Lopez regrouped after he was floored by one of the sweetest counters I've seen this year. But then I'm a bit biased
Lopez, and his corner weren't expecting Kambosos to beat him to the punch with quicker hands.
To be fair, neither was I, and I've seen every televised Kambosos fight there is to watch. You just can't tell until they are matched together.
Lopez didn't have a game plan for that, and his corner (mostly senior) were atrocious.
Re: Who's your #1 at 135?
This poll confirms just how ridiculously overrated the Ukrainian still is by so many.
King George earned the crown. Until further notice, all others are pretenders.

Yeah I wasn't super impressed with how Loma handled Commey. Commey is a good fighter, but I wouldn't favor him over Diaz or Cruz who Haney and Tank just beat. Nakatani definitely isn't the type of redemption win to put Loma back on top.

commey vs diaz or cruz (or cruz vs diaz) would be good, id actually take commey over diaz but maybe the little beast out toughs him

kambos #1 if you go by beating the man
but tbh, i can see ways for each of these dudes to beat the other, which is nice to have

That's exactly where I'm at. Now if they would only fight each other so we could find out.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑14 Dec 2021, 15:00 kambos #1 if you go by beating the man

I agree that there are arguments for any of them to beat any of them, but Teo DID beat Lomassiah, and King George DID beat Teo.NateJR wrote: ↑14 Dec 2021, 15:22That's exactly where I'm at. Hard to argue with that. There really needs to be a return of the Super 6 - like when we had with the SMWs some time back.ironbeard wrote: ↑14 Dec 2021, 16:51I agree that there are arguments for any of them to beat any of them, but Teo DID beat Lomassiah, and King George DID beat Teo.NateJR wrote: ↑14 Dec 2021, 15:22That's exactly where I'm at. Obviously it wasn't without its problems, but fighters at the top not stepping in together is seeming to become more of a problem.
Re: Who's your #1 at 135?
I agree 100% with the OP. Until they fight each other, it's anyone's guess.

Yes, a new convert to the Kambosos Kingdom comes serfing in every 5 minutes.
He is the man that beat the man who beat the man who was the man.
Thing is, that man is still probably the man.

King George beat the man. He is now the man to beat, period.
End of . . . . . .

But the man he beat who beat the man, beat him when he was having an off night and injured, then ran like a little girl under daddy's petticoats and thought Furious George was an easy beat, like most people.ironbeard wrote: ↑14 Dec 2021, 19:13Wrong.
