Its a pity that these guys are on stand by mode waiting for Canelo's call.
175 tournament with Beterbiev, Bivol, Joe Smith Jr, Zurdo Ramirez, Callum Smith and Benavidez - who would win it?

Probably beterb. But his only really good win was against a shaken 1 foot out the door ozykezechicozechovloski (can’t spell his name but he Ukrainian…)

God I'd love to see Smith vs Beterbiev. Smith was always a strong puncher but at 175 he looks to be an absolute monster. That Castillo KO was terrifying, It's always impressive to score a KO against a seasoned pro who's never been KO'd before, and in that fashion, it says Smith has some serious power at 175. We all know what Beterbiev has in his fists, so it'd make for a spectacular fight. Hope it happens so much.

First make the two Smiths square off in a fight-in so we can know which one we're talking about.
Re: 175 tournament with Beterbiev, Bivol, Smith Jr and Zurdo Ramirez - who would win it?
Great question!
Would love a poll.
If I was to bet money, I'd go Callum Smith.
Zurdo has done nothing at LHW for a reason, he could have been #1 contender straight away because he handed in his SMW belt when he moved up, so not him.
I'm a big Smith Jr fan, but not because I think he is an ATG LHW, or even much of a champion. I just like him..
So I'm going to go Bivol from that list.

The only one that has the balls to fight the others and already got the Canelo payday.

None of the others was at super middle when Canelo started fighting there.
Re: 175 tournament with Beterbiev, Bivol, Smith Jr and Zurdo Ramirez - who would win it?
I suspect that Beterbiev wins.
However, I think this tournament needs to be Beterbiev, Bivol, Joe Smith Jr, and Alvarez. Part of the reason why is because Alvarez is an undisputed champion, and winning a second undisputed championship would be, not unprecedented, but pretty historic in the post-1983 era. Another reason for Alvarez to participate is because he already beat Kovalev when Kovalev was considered #1, so the tournament to crown the supreme LHW should really include him (not to mention, he already beat Callum Smith, who boxrec lists as the #1 LHW). The third reason to include Alvarez is because he brings so much money to the table that it gives the other three fighters extra incentive to sign-up.
If Alvarez is going to fight Makabu first, then we can use the opportunity to prepare the tournament by doing Bivol vs Callum Smith and Joe Smith vs Ramirez. Then, when Alvarez moves down in weight, the line-up can be Beterbiev, Alvarez, the Bivol-Callum winner, and the Joe - Ramirez winner.

The 175lbs weight division is extraordinarily weak at the moment.
Joe Smith Jr. is the only champion in that weight division to have engaged in a meaningful fight within the last couple of years.
As much as I’d hate to admit this, I feel the likes of Callum Smith, Gilberto Ramirez and Joshua Buatsi all have an excellent chance of dethroning the established long-time reigning champions at 175lbs (i.e. Beterbiev, Bivol & Smith Jr.).
And I don’t really rate either of those contenders.
Anyway, if we’re only discussing a tournament involving all four guys named in the title of this thread, then I feel that Bivol would probably win it.
The reason why I’ve recently lost faith in Artur Beterbiev, is due to a combination of his age, inactivity, his recent injuries and his terribly poor performance during his most recent outing against Adam Deines.

Zurdo, Benavidez and Callum should've fought each other at 168 in an ideal boxing world. Anyway, they could do it at 175.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑14 Dec 2021, 20:57 ah yes, the inevitable smith confusion

Good points. I'd like to see Beterbiev vs Bivol and Joe Smith Jr vs Zurdo Ramirez fights taking place first before Canelo comes down from CW.Lackeos wrote: ↑15 Dec 2021, 04:30 I suspect that Beterbiev wins.

He's ripe for an upset, no doubt about it. And we've seen at least two big ones recently.apollo creed wrote: ↑15 Dec 2021, 05:32If Beterbiev is still having enough gas left in his tank he should stop Browne but an upset ain't gonna surprise me due of Beterbiev's age and inactivity.

Many people are feeling the same but we will see. Anyway if he wins but looks poor/gets hurt, etc then he should cash in vs Canelo or Joe Smith Jrlookingaround87 wrote: ↑15 Dec 2021, 12:07He's ripe for an upset, no doubt about it.
