Joe Joyce’s Next Fight
So Frank W did a pre-announcement of an announcement yesterday by saying Joyce’s next fight will be announced next Wednesday for London on Feb 12th.
Any thoughts on who the opponent might be? The one I’m hoping for but would be surprised if they make it happen is Otto Wallin as he must be in semi-decent shape and it’d be a good one.
Anyone heard any rumours?

Re: Joe Joyce’s Next Fight
He needs a big name worldwide, stick him in with Wilder or Andy Ruiz. He needs to get a move on at his age.

Re: Joe Joyce’s Next Fight
Hrgovic, Gassiev, Wallin or Hunter would be very interesting but unlikely to happen
Re: Joe Joyce’s Next Fight
Gassiev would be too big a risk and might Hirgovic be. Wallin or Hunter not good enough step ups now (espcially after Hunter drew to a journeyman).peter barlow wrote: ↑16 Dec 2021, 08:35 Hrgovic, Gassiev, Wallin or Hunter would be very interesting but unlikely to happen
Needs to be someone like Luis Ortiz, Wilder or Ruiz Jnr now.

I’d forgotten about Kubrat. Fairly uninspiring but could be worse I guess.

Ruiz and Wilder have just earned tens of millions. They're not coming here.

Re: Joe Joyce’s Next Fight
Yeah. I saw that fight as it was interested to see whether the rules changed the dynamic of it. Pulev just hammered a very old version of Mir who was 15 years past his best as an MMA fighter let alone fighting a boxer with smaller gloves.mickey1975 wrote: ↑16 Dec 2021, 08:56He's just had a win in a triangle.maverick23 wrote: ↑16 Dec 2021, 08:55I’d forgotten about Kubrat. Would be quality IF Joyce was more active. He's 37 next year, he's had 1 fight in 2021 and 2 in 2020. Where is the urgency?maverick23 wrote: ↑16 Dec 2021, 08:55I’d forgotten about Kubrat. Fairly uninspiring but could be worse I guess.
We'll probably get Pulev and Chisora after perhaps. He isn't getting a world title shot in 2022 that's for sure, WBO are last in line despite what Queensbury are claiming.

Re: Joe Joyce’s Next Fight
Who, realistically is there that warrents a pre-announcement hype tweet?
Boxrecs top 20 - the top 7 are tied up or out of reach...
1 ➡ Oleksandr Usyk
2 ➡ Tyson Fury
3 ➡ Anthony Joshua
4 ➡ Deontay Wilder
5 ➡ Dillian Whyte
6 ➡ Joseph Parker
7 ➡ Dereck Chisora
8 ➡ Michael Hunter - Guessing he needs a rematch after the draw with Forrest
9 ➡ Murat Gassiev - Too risky for both guys?
10 ➡ Joe Joyce - Man can't fight himself
11 ➡ Andy Ruiz - Unlikely
12 ➡ Hughie Fury - Could it really happen?
Think it would be a step backwards
13 ➡ Agit Kabayel - Maybe, but hardly a thriller
14 ➡ Robert Helenius - Coming off two decent wins...bit of name value..possible
15 ➡ Frank Sanchez - Just beaten Ajagba....but probably need to proceed with caution to keep his 0
16 ➡ Otto Wallin - Dining out on his Fury performance. Easy work for Joyce.
17 ➡ Martin Bakole - Bounced back after losing to Hunter. Not worthy of this pre announcement hype
18 ➡ Adam Kownacki - Been battered of Kownacki
19 ➡ Tony Yoka - Olympic grudge match...that could sell...Yoka going nowhere seemingly.
20 ➡ Daniel Dubois - Already beat

Out of the above, I'd prefer Tony Yoka.

If the price is right, why not Ruiz, he certainly hasn't fought for over six months, it would help him from stuffing himself over Christmas again.maverick23 wrote: ↑16 Dec 2021, 08:54Neither of those will be happening in mid Feb in London though.
Re: Joe Joyce’s Next Fight

Frank would need to spend several million on Ruiz given he’s now perceived as Ppv fighter in the US. I genuinely can’t remember the last time he brought a fighter over here for that kind of money.

And why on earth would Wilder want someone with a granite chin and endless stamina for a tenth of the money he's used to?

You may well be right. Perhaps Tszyu? I would have thought he’d have cost a few million but only guessing. Maybe Lacy too.mickey1975 wrote: ↑16 Dec 2021, 13:44Probably only Mike Tyson.maverick23 wrote: ↑16 Dec 2021, 12:55If the price is right then let’s go Wilder.

We can hope for the best, and expect disappointment.
I agree about Joe's age, and where is the urgency.
I do hope it's not Pulev though. Joe would mess him up.

Re: Joe Joyce’s Next Fight
Its a hard one. Joyce needs big fights for his carrer, but then why risk his mandatory with too big a fight (although that mandatory is complicated, still needs the usyk AJ rematch, then whoever wins that will try go undisputed blah blah).
Pulev has been mentioned, i dont mind that. I dont rate current pulev, but if joyce can beat him up its a decent win. Otto would be nice, dont rate otto massivly either but vs joe its a fun match up (joe is like a non shit breazeal somtimes). Hellenious? havent heard it mentioned but i think joe monsters him, good to get the fight while hele is grossly over rated.
any better than them ill be shocked.

Re: Joe Joyce’s Next Fight
I don't think Joyce is WBO mandatory yet, Usyk was in September. Joyce is just number 1 contender it seems.
WBA and IBF are in front of WBO plus an undisputed fight will take preference after Usyk Joshua II.

Re: Joe Joyce’s Next Fight
That would do it. Pulev just had a huuuge win.
