I agree. He is still a relatively young man .. 32 is no age really.
There was lots a coverage how Ruiz spent big after his Joshua win; a big spending spree which no doubt contributed towards his diet plan for the rematch. I would not be surprised if he is anything like set up for the lifestyle he briefly tasted .. I imagine he is very ambitious to get back there too.

I am not so sure he would be frozen out like McCall may have been; McCall was a real dangerman which likely influenced that more. And Ruiz has the Canelo/Reynoso connection which I expect will open doors.

Putting Slow-Joe in with Ruiz wouldnt seem ideal for Slow-Joe ... Ruiz would not be trying to KO him but outpoint him. And Ruiz with his good engine and very good movement and speed would be very confident of doing that for 12 rnds.

It’s weird. Joyce had a cracking domestic win last year and then only fighting once in 2021 is crazy when he’s seemingly been fine health wise.

I know he’s number 1 with the WBO but he needs to be active and have his profile built to maximise it.

He should have been fighting this November/December.

Agreed, they had some momentum after Takam, but lost it again. I have been wondering today though that rather than covid being the real reason, it could be because they may have lost the opponent or perhaps they may give him the Fury fight If Whyte falls out (I doubt Fury will pick him but still)

I think it was just a lost opponent then they’d just delay the announcement by a week or so and find someone else. They don’t need a press conference just a press release for now.

They may well be dangling the carrot of the Fury fight but I can’t see how the WBC would let them fight for the world title which I would have thought is what Joyce wants. Still a big big fight for Joe though but I’d lose some respect for Tyson if he just bins the WBC rather than fight Whyte.

I know someone who was chatted up by Evander Holyfield at a nightclub in London - she said he was very direct, quite charming, and actually quite respectful when she turned him down as she was married.

His predilections have cost him a pretty penny that's for sure.
