Oscar De La Hoya vs Alexis Arguello

Post by zuru »

15 Rd Lightweight
It was rare for Arguello to fight someone his height and reach.DLH could match that and surpass him with speed.

Unless Arguello times him with the perfect punch ,I think DLH would have too much speed ,if he boxed.

If he punched with him his speed would be an advantage, but it would be unwise because all Arguello needed was 1 shot.
DLH by late tko or decision.

DLH on points-too fast and boxes too good.

I think we'd be looking at a Split Decision type fight either way it went. I'd favor Arguello by a nose.

For whatever reason, Arguello seems to not get the respect that used to get. He was a hard puncher and technically sound. I think he was simply too good for De La Hoya.

Oscar was fast, but still he lacked movement and slickness to defeat Arguello. Neither he would be able to take Alexis' best punches without feeling them and retreating. Arguello would make De La Hoya uncomfortable and dominate him.

Arguello by dec or late stoppage.

Oscar rolling around on the floor from a huge Arguello left to the body.

I think Arguello was awesome. He was just slow and as far as I know never fought an opponent his height, reach that was as fast as DLH.

I even said 1 punch from him ends it. I was sure he'd decimate Pryor but it was not meant to be.

Oscar by unanimous decision. His skillset just about matches Alexis, and coupled with the faster hands, carries him to victory. Amazingly, there would be no knockdowns.

The Golden Boy would out-box the Explosive Thin Man to either decision him or late round stoppage.
