Who had the best chin - Steve Collins or Chris Eubank (Senior)?
Both guys freaks in my book, but who was tougher? Both took everything from Nigel Benn and didn't crumble (I wish Benn hadn't hurt his ankle in the first fight as it was getting interesting).
And how would these two fair against Canelo? Would they beat him on points?

For me Eubank. Even when he has hurt he was very aware. The knockdowns were often off balance type scenarios.
I mean look at his head! It's like a bowling ball in size and solidity. Like McCall. Seemed impossible to genuinely knockout.

Agreed. Would love to have seen Eubank against Canelo/GGG. full 12 rounds guaranteedJamesPhilips wrote: ↑28 Dec 2021, 14:09 For me Eubank. Even when he has hurt he was very aware. The knockdowns were often off balance type scenarios.

Imo Collins is a touch over rated, got beat in decent performances for world titles against a smaller but great McCullum, Reggie Johnson was decent but not special in world class.golden_balls wrote: ↑28 Dec 2021, 13:56 Both guys freaks in my book, but who was tougher? Eubank was past his best and didn't really turn up, Pyatt was a weak and smaller world champ.
A peak Eubank and Benn were better than Collins, Benn was well gone by the time they fought.
He has dined off the Eubank and Benn wins, good on him, but he wouldn't live against Canelo.
I suppose Eubank was his best win.
Canelo would beat Eubank too.

I’m not sure but I’d be interested to hear Coghaugen‘s thoughts

As Eubank fought Carl Thompson at cruiser and didn't fold i'd say it has to be him

I think Eubank fought too much to the point of going stale. The Collins fight was near the end of the road, with bad knees at that point etc. Both very durable though. Eubank greater skill set might make it more interesting against Canelo. Probably both just outpointed though I’d imagine, especially in the States.
Re: Who had the best chin - Steve Collins or Chris Eubank (Senior)?
Eubank claims he trained right up to the fight without recovery, to train his mindSet. Can’t have helped him.
Re: Who had the best chin - Steve Collins or Chris Eubank (Senior)?
About the same, both as near to unstoppable as is possible. So, Canelo would beat them on pts.

I think Collins’ chin is overrated
Re: Who had the best chin - Steve Collins or Chris Eubank (Senior)?
Rate Collins highly but have to say Eubank imo
Re: Who had the best chin - Steve Collins or Chris Eubank (Senior)?
The guys who fought him didn’t think that.

I don't think Collins had a great chin (though obviously very good!), but he was savvy and strong-willed enough to weather the storm when hurt, and recovered quickly. Bit like Calzaghe.
Eubank had the best chin of the three, but was also the least fit. Didn't help that he was genetically muscle-packed.

Definitely Eubank for me.

Chris had the best chin in British boxing since ive been watching it and I'm 52.
Calzaghe had a better chin than Collins

Eubank snr. And Calzaghe's and Froch's probably better than both Eubank's and Collins'.

Robin Reid had a very good chin until later in his career. In fact when he fought Jeff Lacy it basically evaporated.
Re: Who had the best chin - Steve Collins or Chris Eubank (Senior)?
That's what taking a flush power shot off Lacy while you're not defending yourself because the ref called break will do. Reid was absolutely royally shafted in that fight, before and during the match.polecateddy wrote: ↑02 Jan 2022, 08:59 Robin Reid had a very good chin until later in his career. Didn’t his training solely consist of pool side push ups
