Bit of a letdown this, fury would get much more credit for beating ruiz and while i know it's a tougher fight i think fury would comfortably deal with him over 12 rounds.

Whyte is a fool turning down 5m and his shot.

Or is someone likely to pay him 10m? Seems an incredible figure for him.

He rejected £5m for the AJ fight as well.

That one would have made more on PPV.

He’s complaining about not getting a shot, but then he’s declining offers.

Eddie created a monster.

Fury was guaranteed only $4m when he fought Wilder first time.

I can't believe the arrogance of Whyte, turning down more than most heavies earn in their whole career

That's the 2nd time Whyte has turned down a title fight. Next time he walks to the ring instead of howling like a wolf he needs to meow because he's a massive pu....

He’s mandatory and one of the perks is that you can go to purse bids. $5m is £3.8m so if that’s 20% then That’s equivalent to a £19m purse bid.

If the fight did go to purse bids then I’d be amazed if the fight didn’t go for more than that.

I understand all that but how much would he earn if Fury vacated or picked up a loss before he actually fights Whyte, there are so many if's and buts at the moment he should just take the chance, like most challengers in history, you get the small end of the wedge and then cash in if you are good enough to win

I'm guessing that ruins his court case against the WBC
I doubt he will be made mandatory again, maybe he is hoping to fight Usyk

He wants what’s he’s earned - at least a chance of purse bids. I don’t begrudge him that.

Great news if it’s Ruiz but experience tells me that when more than 1 potential opponent is announced it’s the worst one that tends to get it. Helenius would be a poor fight for Fury. He’s had a couple of good wins against Kownacki but was well beat by Whyte and stopped by Washington.

If Fury vacates and Whyte fights for a vacant belt then he’d likely make more than $5m for the fight as he’d be on something like a 60% split.

He won't even get a share at all if the fight falls through,we've seen so many unexpected losses lately,he should bite the bullet

Why title isn't on the line, since the challenger declined an offer? Titles get disvalued more and more. Anyone, who knows some sh!t about the sport, is aware of who's the man without them straps.

Anyway, the Ruiz and Helenius fights are good too.

Helenius would be a terrible opponent. Ruiz wouldn’t be bad as long as the next fight is Usyk/Joshua.
Stopping Ruiz would be an achievement though.

Helenius looked great in the last two fights taking Kownacki to pieces, and has earned his place as a contender. Whyte really is perplexing & seems too difficult to deal with, embracing “perennial contender” status. Bitterly disappointed in Dillian, who did fine work earning his shot multiple times.

Ruiz is fb king awful, a total waste of space. At least Helenius - once a promising prospect - has pulled himself out of whatever funk he’s been going through, and shows good offensive skills.

fury is determined not to defend his titles lol, why not just have it on the line since both helenius and ruiz are ranked?

fury vs the 6 foot blob ruiz would be a comical visual and prob end up with ruiz plodding forward unable to get anywhere close, like aj 2. fury can school that type of guy pretty easily. helenius aint all that but would prefer him tbh, i can see him landing a big right more than i can andy getting in range

According to Bob the WBC told Fury to go ahead and fight whoever he wants because it is Whyte and Whyte alone making the fight impossible to be made. He just can't defend the WBC belt because Whyte is holding the number one position hostage basically.

As for Ruiz, I think it's the next best thing that could be made considering the man was the unified champion in one of the biggest upsets in boxing history. He's basically rebounded (in shape) and seems eager and willing to fight Fury or Wilder, and he is ranked highly across the board whether people like him or not.

He's never been stopped either so if Fury is able to get the stoppage it would be a big feather in his cap considering Joshua basically ran away from a fatter out of shape version.

that makes about f@ck all sense and ive never seen it happen before, but fury is some kind of special when it comes to not defending his belts so who knows lol

ruiz looked awful in his last two fights, getting dropped and hurt by 2021 chris arreola is something

So after years of pulling stunts and keeping Whyte waiting, now the WBC can't bend their rules when Whyte is acting like a pratt :witzend:

Seeing as Whyte appears to have lost his bottle when push has come to shove, I'd be just fine with Helenius. He's done something to earn a crack and if your chin finds itself in the wrong place at the wrong time, his punch power can separate his opponents from their senses.

Ruiz might carry more of a recognisable name to the casual fan, but that will be a dire fight and Ruiz won't have the first clue how to get near Fury.
