hughie's problem has been that he's skittish vs high level opponents who are offensively capable themselves, he didnt have to deal with that vs those opponents above
Yeah fair enough, but Hammer doesn't usually check out like that. He put in the work against both Ortiz and Yoka who are respectable punchers in their own right, and now he is being lined up for Sanchez. That's three of our top 15, so Hughie's performance was promising.

nah, doesn't mean anything to me. hughie's already let his hands go vs spoiler types like rudenko and sexton, before then taking losses vs better opponents.

his problem is that he gets put into a shell when he faces high level opponents with some offense of their own, guys who present a threat of their own. hammer doing nothing but spoiling is the total opposite of that and doesnt show that he's progressed in that respect. hammer quit on an injury anyway and has barely won a round vs anyone good in years. im starting to get sick of seeing his name tbh, at this level his fights are awful and he has no ambition - he knows his role basically.

tbh iim a bit dumbfounded that ppl are celebrating him replacing negron, theres no chance hammer will win and he'll almost surely provide a more tedious fight

I actually thought Hammer took rounds off Yoka but he was up against the machine in Paris.

I think you are being a tad harsh on Hughie. Because they were certainly better opponents.
Prime Whyte got stopped by Povetkin, chose to avoid the eliminator with Pulev and won a close fight against Parker.
A relatively young Hughie loses wide to both Povetkin and Pulev, and loses a close fight against Parker.

He's 27 now, let's see how things unfold for him.

im not being hard on him at all, just realistic that he shut down and went into a shell when faced with good opponents. hence him fighting a total spoiler without firepower does nothing to convince me he's improved. he already let his hands go freely vs similar opponents in that past.

he may show improvement, but he'll have to do it vs someone more dangerous than christain (aka mr. 0 rounds to 10) the spoiler to convince me he's gotten better.

Right, I'm going to stick some Hughie fights on in the background whilst I take down the tree.

Imminent made me chuckle:lol:
