Tevin Farmer offers homeless man £100,000-a-year job in attempt to “change lives”

Boxing champion offers homeless man £100,000-a-year job in attempt to “change lives”

Former boxing world titleholder Tevin Farmer has outlined his aims to change one life a year, recently starting by offering a homeless man to work for him.

Farmer is a former IBF super featherweight champion who went unbeaten for eight years, but suffered defeat to Joseph Diaz Jr in his last fight.

The 31-year-old hasn't fought since last January but is preparing for a return to the ring next year.

And Farmer revealed his random act of kindness on Twitter in which he offered a homeless person $10,000 a month to work for him.

"Met a homeless guy today. He was so cold outside. Took him 2 the store. Bought him everything he needed. Paid for a hotel for 2 weeks," he wrote.

"Hired him to work 4 me, making 10K+ a month. My heart is so full. I couldn't see him in the cold with nothing. My goal is to change 1 life a year.

"There’s nothing like helping somebody and changing their life. Literally changing their life."

Farmer said he wouldn't reveal the situation the homeless person was in, but will provide updates later on when he is doing better.

"I am not posting this man bad situation. When he become better. I’ll post him speaking about it. Have a great night," he wrote.

In 2017, Farmer suffered a career-threatening injury when he was shot in the hand at a family member's birthday party after trying to disarm a person with a gun.

He miraculously returned to the ring just five months later when he missed out on the IBF title at 130lbs against Kenichi Ogawa, but the Japanese fighter failed a drug test and was later stripped of the win.

Farmer fought again the following August when he won the IBF belt against Billy Dib and would go on to defend his title five times before losing it to Diaz.

Farmer - who was previously managed by DiBella Entertainment - is now a free agent and is planning a move up to 135lbs in his boxing return.

"It’s been a long journey. This past year for me in boxing has been the most difficult. Even though I never showed it," he wrote on Instagram.

"It’s time to move forward and really get what I deserved. I am now officially a free agent. it’s the start to something special. I wanna thank everyone that made this possible."

What's he doing for £10k a month?

Licking his balls?

There's a lot of working class people who'd work for a boxer too for that much or anyone.

It might be legit, but it's fcking dumb.

What precisely is this guy doing for his 10k a month, what qualities does he have that command top dollar?

If he wanted to help people out, 100k a year could be a lot better spent in other contexts, rather than just giving some random homeless guy a tonne of money for a job that doesn't really exist.

I suspect this either ends badly, or the guy finds himself without employment in short order.

I doubt Tevin has made more than $10 mill in his career. And now he has no promoter, no belt and fans are not exactly begging to see him fight. Def smells like BS.

He doesn’t need to have earned $10m to be giving out $10k a month for 1 year.

He was one of Hearn’s early DAZN signings.

Where they probably chucking daft money.

He probably made a few mil. And he fought a lot.

It might well be true, who can say, but it's unlikely to last long.

10,000 a month to one homeless guy. Why not offer job training for 5 homeless and a roof over their head?
If anyone believes this is true it really makes no sense. Giving a guy money with no way of teaching him how to maintain that lifestyle is insane.
I don't believe the story but Hell dumber things have happened

It may well be true - it's the sort of thing someone with little education who made a mint in boxing might think was a good idea.

As you say that money could be far better used in giving people skills to make money in a sustainable way.

This is absolutely comical. I want to see this homeless dude’s W2. So he’s gonna pay a homeless dude more than he’s getting paid for his fights annually?

This should end up being the worst attention grab we’ve seen in a long time. First off, that money should be spent on correcting both of his lazy eyes. Invest in your future Tevin.

Maybe Tevin Farmer was born to a very wealthy family so he can pay people he just meets 10K a Month. He did not say it was from his Boxing Money Fighting and Endorsements.

could be, although reading on his background suggests that's not the case

could also be that he's totally bullsh!tting for attention, hence the story sounding phony as hell

In America, you don’t box if you come from money. That’s for other countries. Farmer’s from Baltimore which if it were a part of your body, I’d say it would very close if not a part of your balloon knot or a-hole in other words.

Hey, maybe I’m wrong. Perhaps his accountant advised him of a certain amount of money that he needed to put towards a charitable effort in order to make it to a different tax bracket. But again, I lift an eyebrow whenever an entertainer seeks out attention on the basis of his:her philanthropy. I do hope that it’s not only true and completed for this poor chap but that it’s also followed up upon by these media outlets Fsrmer commissioned to promote his actions.

If he paid him $25k that would be fair, right ?

Was this homeless guy a Brain Surgeon - seems a ludicrous sum. Insane story. :maybe:
