Steve is only doing what 90%+ of people do to stay in work and that's do what their boss wants them to do. His knowledge of British boxing is second to few (maybe none). He has put in a serious shift and could out-anorak anybody on here but he's also got enough savvy to know you've got to dance to the tune of whoever is paying you.

Whilst I agree with what you’re saying he’s also a reporter so when’s bigging up the channel 5 show he’s presenting or the BT show where he’s a pundit I think it reduces the credibility of his other stuff.

Integrity is essential in his line of work - his paymasters may appreciate Dunce saying what they want him to say - but that's not the primary reason why they initially employed him. He has got to attract viewers/customers.
People increasingly turn away from politicians they see as lacking integrity; the same risk applies to journalists and commentators.
