A bit patronising. Goldstar handle everything Fury does and I'm sure they know how to fill out a form.589555 wrote: ↑01 Jan 2022, 07:00 There's a lack of understanding here about how the honours system works.
You have to be nominated and an account of why you deserve a gong written up. Then the honours committee make their decisions. I suspect that nobody has written Fury up. None of the people really close to him would know how to get the forms. He's not got a BBBofC licence so they won't do it.
Brian Hughes, for example, was proposed by his son Damien for his. It was deserved but without Damien grabbing the bull by the horns it wouldn't have happened.

Well they've clearly not done it or he'd have got an MBE at a canter.mickey1975 wrote: ↑01 Jan 2022, 07:38A bit patronising. He's not shy you're right there,so do you think if he'd been nominated and refused he'd also tell us about that ?mickey1975 wrote: ↑01 Jan 2022, 04:29He would have stated that. He's not exactly shy, is he? Lauren Price got one. Even Curtis Woodhouse did last year.

Knocking around with the alleged head of Europe’s biggest drugs cartel is probably a bit of a hinderance too.

I heard that the Queen was actually thinking of honouring him, but then she read our “Tyson Fury would have been eaten for dinner in my era, claims Frank Bruno” thread which made her reconsider her position.

They probably think he’d reject it publicly after what he said about SPOTY.

A friend of mine was high up in the MET for a couple years before being more or less forced to retire - a sweetener was the Police have an actual dept that applies for these silly Honours.maverick23 wrote: ↑01 Jan 2022, 06:27You need someone to campaign for you if you’re not well known. My cousin got a CBE in the honours list last January. He got it for doing his job and he’s already paid very well for it. His company put him forward for it and knew who to push it to.
It would not be politically correct nowadays to nominate war criminal and middle east parasite Blair; not even Labour would risk endorsing him ... it was the Queens own choice to Honour him; no doubt for the favours he gave the Royals during his stint in charge.I'm more upset that Blair got knighted!
It not because Fury is a traveller, it's because he isn't politically correct
He only did that to deflect from him not likely having a chance of winning it ... as this year, he didnt come anywhere close to actually winning it.They probably think he’d reject it publicly after what he said about SPOTY.
Ultimately Fury is a toxic brand; hence the lack of big name/money sponsors.

A toxic brand? You obviously have no idea of his popularity nowadays. Go look at book sales, merchandise, etc.tonyevs wrote: ↑01 Jan 2022, 10:40A friend of mine was high up in the MET for a couple years before being more or less forced to retire - a sweetener was the Police have an actual dept that applies for these silly Honours.maverick23 wrote: ↑01 Jan 2022, 06:27You need someone to campaign for you if you’re not well known. PBF sold the most tickets, the most PPV's, the most bums on seats, a load of merchandise but you wouldn't find a sponsor to touch him, it's the politically correct world we live in.mickey1975 wrote: ↑01 Jan 2022, 12:06A toxic brand? Nail on head .
Worthless titles that are sometimes acquired with a donation to a political party .
Absolutely nonsensical bull$hit and he probably wouldn't accept it anyway .
Being a king is enough .
Re: Why hasn't Fury made the honours list?
This and not only do you have to do that the person nominating has to get people to write up stuff to go with there nomination and proof of stuff they have done etc. There is a lot to it and a lot of the time people who might deserve one dont get one because people around them dont realise or cant be bothered to the stuff that has to be done589555 wrote: ↑01 Jan 2022, 07:00 There's a lack of understanding here about how the honours system works.

I think he's defended his belt. Admitted his demons, came back and took over the heavyweight division. Defended his beliefs. I doubt The Queen looks that far into it, though.coneye wrote: ↑01 Jan 2022, 05:31 Maybee being a homophobic , drug cheat , who,s well known for coke and booze binges , who refuses to defend belts , might have somethong too do with it ,, plus pledging money to charities and refusing to have it comfirmed wetherr he did or not and whithbwhom ,, all might come intyo the equation

As an amateur far more and they tend to heavily reward amateur boxing. She won Olympic Gold, World Championship Gold, Commonwealth Gold. Also was a world champ as a kick-boxer and represented her country at Football.
Also, importantly, she’s got an extremely clean record and has previously dealt with the royals. Prince William gave her a birthday cake for last birthday!
