Hughie Fury Fight Makes Sense For Derek Chisora, Says BOXXER's Shalom

Promoter Ben Shalom of BOXXER, who works with heavyweight contender Hughie Fury, believes a fight with Derek Chisora is now more likely to happen.

Last month, Chisora lost a twelve round unanimous decision in his rematch with former WBO world champion Joseph Parker. Chisora took a lot of punishment in the fight and was dropped three times during the fight.

The fight with Parker marked Chisora's third consecutive defeat.

Fury, the cousin of WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, is very interested in facing Chisora.

Shalom thinks the fight makes a lot of sense for both boxers and is now in a better scenario to actually come off.

"Likelier? Yes [it's likelier Chisora would agree to face Fury]," Shalom said to Sky Sports.

"He will struggle to get the Deontay Wilder fight that has been spoken about. Even Dillian Whyte struggled to get the Wilder fight. Hughie is the fight that makes sense for Chisora. If Chisora wins, it proves that he is still an elite British heavyweight. Chisora lost to Parker. Hughie arguably beat Parker when he was just 23 years old. If Chisora wants to bounce back with a bang? If he is still serious? Chisora is very good and only loses to the elite guys so, for Hughie, it is a good fight.

"The fans want to see this - they love Derek and they want to see Hughie tested. We have reached out again to Derek. We want the fight, Hughie wants it, Peter Fury wants it. It's an exciting fight for us. Hughie is someone that nobody wants to fight - he's 27, awkward, and is a hard man to beat. Now he has strength and experience as well. The hardest part is getting people to fight him. The risk and reward [for his opponent] makes it difficult. Chisora would be a big fight for him. We are also speaking to Chris Arreola and Andy Ruiz Jr. There are exciting options for Hughie while the guys with the belts are going at it."

I remember thinking Chisora's punch resistance was waning when he got whacked by Gerber in whenever that was. DelBoy could have bullied Hughie round the ring all day long in his pomp, but surely we'd all pick against him now ?
He should retire.

He was aggressive and tried hard vs Parker, but was much slower and so open defensively.

We can question Hughie's heart / desire / balls in the ring itself - yes, but we cannot question it in terms of who he is game to fight. He's fought two x top 7 current Heavyweights and Povetkin was arguably top 5 when they fought.

Chisora must be starting to get in the Danny Williams zone for the amount of punishment he’s taken now. I bet he goes on and on though. You’d think that fighters like him should have some sort of detailed MRI scan on their brains and get a proper handle on the type of damage that’s going on in there. Late middle age could end up being a bit of a struggle.

I've been a big defender of Fury, I really think he has all the talent in the world, perhaps it's the hype that irks me, 'looking to explode onto the scene' FFS he has been a pro 8/9 years.

he had a good first round and rocked pulev around the 7th or 8th. otherwise he was cowering and reluctant to even throw his trademark air jabs

his cousin won a fight with a 50 stitch gaping vagina on his face, for hughie to get so freaked by a standard cut was a sawft move.
