I used to live next door to a traveller site in Peckham - which wasn’t as bad as it sounds. I loved their language - was like singing Shakespearean English in an Irish accent. They could speak normally if they wanted too, but rarely did.

Yes - that's what they called it "Cant" - it wasn't Romany
And they used to pronounce it like they were calling me "a cant" when they said it !
