Joseph Parker : Free Agent

Post by gregregegg »

Parker is a promotional free agent coming off a couple of good wins plus his style seems to be getting more exciting since moving to andy Lee. It seems parker has quite a few good options right now interesting to see where he goes and how long term he goes there.

Matchroom/DAZN: Parker has been doing good business with them and could chose to continue especially if they try to expand into aus and NZ. Potential fights: zhang, Demsey mckean, whyte II, AJ II, Usyk, Okolie,

PBC: Good opportunity to expands into the USA, Good stable for him although dont like to deal out of house America prime time has favourable fight times for NZ sunday arvo PPVs. Potential fights: Ruiz II, Wilder, Ortiz, Sanchez, Helenios, arreola, breazeal, washington, martin, kownaki... Some of these guys would have to get back in the wins, but could be good showcase fights for parker.

Toprank/ ESPN: Hang with his mate Tyson Fury although it gets awkward being the second top heavy in house but mates with the best, also not many guys for him to fight. opponents: Fury, Yoka, Efe, Rivas, Anderson (not for a while though).

Queensberry: Normaly wouldent give frank much chance of signing someone like parker, but has some fun fights there so i guess he is a chance at 1 offs or short deals. oponents: Joyce, DDD, Gorman.

Miscellaneous NZ: Could just hang in NZ and invite over people with some name value and do big home shows and make a pretty decent living. (dont think he is at this option yet, mabey in 5 years.)

I Like him at matchroom because i have DAZN and he has been in some nice fights and has some good future match ups, But If PBC can keep him active its probably my favorite run of fights. Brezeal>helenious>Ruiz II>wilder would be my ideal 18 months (if no WBO title in that period of time).

Where should/where will he go?

That would be an impressive run if it would happen. But There is not a top 10 heavy who would be fighting that row in an 18 month time period. Just wouldn't happen

Yea i mean i wouldent start the clock till the sign him. Once they signed him that would probably only be 10 weeks till first fight... so that would be 10 weeks, breazeal, 5 months, helenious, 5 months, Ruiz, 5 months, wilder..... Sadly i agree its ambitiously active right now, but shit it shouldent be.

Parker has retained his manager, who has a beef with Fwank dating back to the d*ck around initially with Hughie not coming to NZ, and then Parker not having his purse in escrow before he came to England finally. Not saying that bridge is totally burnt, but it is scorched.
You guys will remember David "cocaine!" Higgins and his erratic behaviour leading up to the Parker AJ fight? Well he is still managing Parker as far as I know and he is quite a character and seems to be able to get deals done.
Being a free agent is good, and Parker is highly ranked by all 4 orgs, so even though he doesn't have a title, he isn't that far off #1 contender.

Mate, do i remember the GOAT... of coarse i do. he had about 30 beers befor one of the press conferences for one of parkers big fights. he is cringe as fornicate, but he gets under peoples skin pretty effectivly and its all light hearted banter.

Hearn will still try and get involved in his fights, surely Parker and Higgins like working with Matchroom.

But he’s a top 10 HW.

He’ll follow the money.

If that means fighting Ruiz on FOX PPV then so be it.

Parker is a name now in Aus, UK and he’s a name in HW scene with US boxing fans.

Forgot about Parker’s 6 million dollar 3 fight contract to fight killers like leiapi and winters, one one of the best contracts ever signed… let’s hope him and higs are in just as good a form but a bit more ambitious at the negotiating table this time.

Big matchroom contract and fight his pacific rivals like Zhang and Dempsey would be a laugh, I’d be disappointed but have to respect the east money path.

A deal with allegedly to fight Joe Joyce with rematch or Dubois could make a couple good fights and probably UK PPV.

I can see him going with Top Rank. They seem to have a thing for HW veterans. Recently signed Oscar Rivas, IIRC.

Joe Parker is a Matchroom fighter.

He won’t sign with Top Rank, Queensberry, Golden Boy or the PBC.

Regardless of his contractual status, he’ll do what Dillian Whyte is doing, by continually working with Eddie Hearn.

End of thread. :TU:

The guru has spoken. I do think its most likely. But surely PBC and ruiz have to be a little tempted in that rematch.

Only if Eddie Hearn promotes it on behalf of Parker and is willing to fund a massive payday.

Otherwise there’s no reason for the PBC to orchestrate that rematch,

Most people thought Ruiz Jr. defeated Parker.

And whilst Parker lost to AJ, Ruiz Jr. beat the Brit.

For Ruiz Jr. the Parker “loss” is ancient history. It doesn’t need to be avenged.

It will be nice to see him against the guys of the lower top-10 or the top-20, like Ortiz, Hunter, Helenius, Yoka, but it looks like he ain't going for the risk without a huge paycheck.

Higgins. I dont actualy think he was on the coke... too sloppy, just a million beers and his very weird awkward persona.
