Press Release | Hovhannes Bachkov, Olympic Bronze Medal Winner, Inks With Probellum

Probellum has announced their latest promotional signing; Olympic bronze medalist Hovhannes Bachkov.

Bachkov competed at both the 2016 and 2020 Olympic Games, winning a bronze medal in Tokyo for Armenia at lightweight.

He also won a gold medal at the European Games in Minsk in 2019, a gold medal at the European Championships in 2017, and bronze medals at the World Championships in Hamburg in 2017 and in Yekaterinburg in 2019, making him one of the most accomplished athletes his country has ever produced.

"It’s an honor for me to sign with Probellum and take my place alongside the other great fighters in their team," said Bachkov.

"This is going to be an exciting journey over the next few years as together we work to achieve my goal of becoming world champion. When a good fighter works with a good team, the light will always be on."

Bachkov has since entered the professional game during the past 12 months, defeating 22-6 opponent Samuel Gonzalez over eight rounds in his professional debut, before a first round stoppage win over previously unbeaten Binali Shakmandarov in his second bout, showing the rapid pace that the 28-year-old wishes to rise through the ranks.

"Hovhannes Bachkov has shown time and time again that he has what it takes to become a superstar around the world, and we're thrilled to have him joining the team at Probellum," said Richard Schaefer, President of Probellum.

"He is already a hero in his country of Armenia for what he has achieved, and as a professional he can take that stardom to new heights, both on the national and international stage. The future looks very bright."

Probellum also announced the signing of UK amateur standout Mark Dickinson ahead of his professional debut this weekend.

Dickinson, 22-years-old, had a memorable amateur career, representing the GB Boxing team numerous times, whilst earning a lot of accomplishments along the way, including gold medals at the Youth Commonwealth Games and the European Youth Championships, and eight national titles.

"I am thrilled to have signed with Probellum," said Dickinson. "They've had so many recent big signings and have such huge goals, so it's a fantastic team to be working alongside. It’s amazing to have a team with such belief and support behind me."

He transition into the paid ranks has come under the tutelage of world-title winning trainer Ben Davison, with Dickinson set to make his professional debut at the Newcastle Arena on Saturday - on a BOXXER event live on Sky Sports Boxing.

"I’m delighted to have a prospect like Mark, whom I believe to have a very special career ahead of him, be signed to a company like Probellum," said trainer Ben Davison.

"They are looking to do some major things in boxing, with numerous recent big name signings and a great backroom staff, as well as the support and belief they have shown in Mark and his potential."

Press Release | Paul Butler, Ahead of Casimero Title Fight, Inks With Probellum

Probellum has announced the promotional signing of former IBF bantamweight champion Paul Butler - ahead of his upcoming world title clash with John Riel Casimero.

Butler (33-2, 15 knockouts) is a former world champion who made his professional debut back in 2010.

It didn't take long for the Ellesmere Port man to make an impact, winning the British super-flyweight title in just his ninth fight with a first round knockout, before adding the Commonwealth, WBO Intercontinental and WBA Intercontinental bantamweight titles to his collection not long after.

The highlight then came in 2014, when Butler defeated Stuart Hall to win the IBF bantamweight title.

"We're very pleased to welcome Paul Butler to the team," said Richard Schaefer, President of Probellum. "He's worked extremely hard for a number of years to gain another shot at a world title, and we're delighted that we've been able to win the purse bid for it.

"He is one of the best fighters that the UK has produced over the past decade, and at just 32-years-old, still has plenty of big nights ahead of him, so we're certain this will be a long and successful relationship."

The 32-year-old is now set to challenge for another world title, after Probellum won the purse bid for his WBO bantamweight title showdown with defending champion Casimero.

"I'm delighted to be signing with a huge force like Probellum," said Butler. "Some of the moves they've made over the past few weeks have been massive, and it's clear that this is the perfect team for me moving forward.

"Probellum have already shown their total support for me by winning the purse bid for my WBO bantamweight title fight against John Riel Casimero, so I'm proud to have them backing me and I can't wait to once again become world champion in the near future."

Press Release | Donnie Nietes Inks Promotional Pact With Probellum

Probellum has announced the promotional signing of four-weight world champion Donnie Nietes.

The Filipino icon has had a tremendous career, with Nietes (43-1-5, 23 knockouts) holding world titles at super-flyweight, flyweight, light-flyweight and minimumweight.

Nietes made his long-awaited return to the ring earlier this year, coming back from a near two-and-a-half year absence when he defeated Pablo Carrillo in Dubai, winning the vacant WBO International super-flyweight title in the process, and displaying the elite skills that have put him at the top of the sport for nearly two decades.

"It's such a great pleasure to get this promotional contract with Probellum," said Nietes. "I am so proud to be part of it, and I am looking forward to fighting again soon so that I can continue to show my boxing abilities and technique."

He now joins forces with Probellum, as he looks to once again become world champion and continue to do his country of the Philippines proud.

"We're pleased to welcome such an illustrious boxer like Donnie Nietes to the team," said Richard Schaefer, President of Probellum. "We have seen the lower weight classes finally receive the praise they deserve in recent years, and Donnie is a key part of that stacked super-flyweight division.

"He has already won world titles in four divisions, making him a true legend of the sport, and we're proud to now be working together as we look to help him claim world honors again in the near future."

Probellum has announced the promotional signing of Australian amateur sensation Jason Mallia - ahead of his upcoming professional debut.

"I’m very excited to sign with Probellum. I see great opportunities with this new company and with greater opportunities come bigger rewards," said Mallia.

"I just want to fight and fulfil my full potential on the big stage, and I believe I can do that with the best team behind me."

Mallia has operated as one of Australia's best amateur fighters in recent times, becoming a five-time national champion, and a nine-time state champion.

The talented welterweight has competed in some of the biggest tournaments around the world, and with over 100 amateur bouts under his belt, brings a vast amount of experience into the paid ranks.

Mallia's professional debut is set to take place next month, when he fights in his hometown on the Probellum and Team Ellis Boxing co-promotion event at The Melbourne Pavilion on Saturday 11 December.

The card also features some of the best talent that Australia has to offer, including Ray Dimachki, Jesse White, Mitchell Leek and more.

"We are very pleased to welcome Jason Mallia to the team ahead of his professional debut," said Richard Schaefer, President of Probellum. "He has what it takes to go all the way in his career, and he's certain to provide some huge nights for boxing in Australia for many years to come."

Press Release | Jack Bowen Inks Promotional Pact With Probellum

Probellum has announced the promotional signing of hard-hitting Australian star Jack Bowen.

Bowen (3-0, 3 knockouts) has made the perfect start to his professional career, winning all three of his fights since his debut back in February 2020.

He is the latest Australian star to sign with Probellum, following on from highly-rated Jason Mallia earlier this week. "I am excited to be a part of the Probellum stable amongst elite international talent," said Bowen. "Probellum’s vision for boxing all over the globe has me excited to bring big fights to Australian shores."

Bowen's power has been evident in each fight, with the 25-year-old winning them all inside the distance, the most recent of which coming in June when he knocked out experienced Sivan Hermez in the very first round.

Bowen had an illustrious amateur career too, representing his country at the World Championships, whilst also winning the Australian title, the Arafura Games, five state crowns, an Australasian Golden Gloves and the Queensland Elite Boxer of the Year award.

"Jack Bowen has already shown massive potential in his career so far, and we're excited that he'll now be continuing that journey with Probellum," said Richard Schaefer, President of Probellum.

"Australia is a key market for us, as we've seen with the co-promotional agreement with Team Ellis Boxing, and the signing of Jason Mallia, so having Jack Bowen on board is a fantastic move for all involved. We can't wait to see how it all unfolds."

Press Release | Muhammad Waseem Inks Promotional Pact With Probellum

Probellum announced the signing of highly ranked flyweight fighter - Pakistan's former world title challenger Muhammad Waseem.

Waseem (11-1, 8 knockouts) is one of Pakistan's biggest sports stars, having had immense success as both an amateur and professional boxer.

The 34-year-old has been involved in big fights in his career, most notably when he challenged Moruti Mthalane for the IBF flyweight title in 2018, and came up narrowly short on points, in a fight that saw Waseem drop Mthalane.

"I am proud to be representing Pakistan and teaming up with a huge company like Probellum," said Waseem. "They have already signed some of the best names in the sport, and to now be working alongside those great fighters is amazing.

"I am certain that they can help me accomplish my goal of becoming world champion, and it can lead to some massive nights of boxing and amazing opportunities both in Pakistan and beyond. Probellum have already made clear how they want to hold a world title fight in Pakistan next year, and having the chance to be involved in that would be superb, and be spectacular for the entire country."

He had a memorable homecoming in Lahore during his last outing back in December, and is now set to return to the ring later this month, when he competes in Dubai against Rober Barrera on November 26.

A victory in that fight would see Waseem move one step closer to another crack at world honors, as he looks to make history as the first ever Pakistani-born world champion, with Probellum hoping to then stage a world title fight in Pakistan in 2022.

As an amateur, he won a silver medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and a bronze medal at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, along with a gold medal at the 2010 World Combat Games in Beijing, a silver medal at the 2010 South Asian Games in Dhaka, and a bronze medal at the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon.

Waseem is also known for his incredible charity work outside of the ring, regularly giving back to organizations in Pakistan.

"We are truly honored to welcome a boxing superstar like Muhammad Waseem to Probellum," said Richard Schaefer, President of Probellum. "He is one of the biggest stars in all of Pakistan, and we are confident that his popularity can translate around the world.

"He has already proven himself to be one of the best 115lb fighters on the planet, and with Probellum now supporting him, we plan on helping him achieve his dream of becoming world champion, a feat which would be historic not just for Pakistan, but for Muslims around the world."

Press Release | Lee McGregor Inks Promotional Pact With Probellum

Probellum has announced the promotional signing of unbeaten British, Commonwealth and European bantamweight champion Lee McGregor.

Scottish sensation McGregor (11-0, 9 KOs), 24-years-old, is regarded as one of the top 118lb fighters in the world after just 11 fights.

“I’m absolutely delighted to be signing with Probellum. I believe with Probellum backing me and guiding me I won’t just become a world champion, but I’ll also become a multi-weight world champion,” said McGregor.

“I’m looking forward to some huge nights ahead and hopefully getting closer to my dream fighting at Tynecastle Park and over in the States.”

He won the European title in emphatic fashion earlier this year, viciously stopping defending champion Karim Guerfi in the very first round, before following that up with a fourth round stoppage win against Vincent Legrand in August.

McGregor also holds wins over the likes of Kash Farooq and Thomas Essomba during his career, and is currently ranked #3 with the IBF, #6 with the WBA, #7 with the WBC, #12 with the WBO.

“We are ecstatic to welcome a fighter of Lee McGregor’s ability to the team here at Probellum,” said Richard Schaefer, President of Probellum. “In such a short space of time he has proven himself as one of the best bantamweight fighters on the planet, and this is only the start of what we’re certain is going to be a long and successful career.

“He is already a superstar in Scotland and the UK, and we’re confident he can now take that popularity to a worldwide level. There will be more news revealed soon about Lee and the future is going to be very bright.”

Foster (18-2, 11 knockouts) is one of the top rated 130lb fighters on the planet, and is currently ranked #2 with the WBC.

He is the reigning WBC Silver super featherweight champion, having won the belt back in 2019, most recently defending it with a ninth round knockout win over Miguel Roman last year.

The 28-year-old Texas native is on the verge of earning a world title shot, and eager for much bigger things after teaming up with Probellum.

Foster is the latest fighter sign with Probellum, joining a roster that includes Regis Prograis, Nonito Donaire, Badou Jack, Donnie Nietes, Lee McGregor, Eimantas Stanionis, Arthur Biyarslanov, Taras Shelestyuk, Ricky Burns, Paul Butler, Lewis Ritson, Muhammad Waseem, Hovhannes Bachkov, Darius Fulghum, Eduardo Hernandez, Mark Dickinson, Brandon Moore, Jack Bowen and Jason Mallia.

Press Release | Noel Mikaelian signs with Probellum

Probellum announced the signing of 31 year-old cruiserweight Noel Mikaelian a/k/a Noel Gevor to a promotional contract. [Gevor has fought only once a year for the past three years but is a legitimate contender, having lost a very controversial decision to Mairis Briedis in 2018, with Briedis going on to win the IBF championship and World Boxing Super Series]. The Armenian-German is the newest addition to Probellum’s elite-level roster, which has been expanding at a fast pace since launching in September.

“I’m very happy to sign for Probellum, the most exciting new brand in boxing,” said Mikaelian. “I believe this will be a significant step in my development as a fighter, and I’m really looking forward to starting 2022 in a positive way, under the guidance of Probellum.”

“Noel has proven his quality for many years and we are delighted to confirm his signing,” added Richard Schaefer, President of Probellum. “The fact he has fought 27 times and secured 25 victories speaks volumes, and we are eager to see him take his undoubted talent onto another level with Probellum.”

Really doesn't make any sense. All these apparently random signings, no big money to be seen anywhere, no tv contracts etc.

Richard Schaefer is as smart as they come really, as far as boxing goes there is nothing that he hasn't done already in that sport. Since his genius is so extensive one has to assume that something huge will come from this but how he plans to get things happening is hard to understand.

Press Release | Will Cawley Inks Promotional Pact With Probellum

Probellum has announced the promotional signing of British boxer, Will Cawley.

Having only turned professional in 2021, the Oldham-born bantamweight (1-0) becomes the latest addition to Probellum’s fast-growing roster.

“I’m delighted to take this next step in my career with Probellum,” said Cawley.

“This is a really exciting time and I firmly believe that under the guidance of Probellum, I can go on to achieve great success.

“In a short period, Probellum has already signed some of the world’s best fighters, and I’m extremely happy to become a part of the team.”

A former member of Team GB, Cawley enjoyed a successful career at amateur level where he won four national titles, including the 2016 ABA Championship, while also picking up both silver and bronze medals on the European stage.

Cawley won his maiden professional bout by overcoming Stephen Jackson on points in Sheffield in November.

Following its launch, Probellum has already signed a high number of fighters, including Pat and Luke McCormack, Troy Williamson, Regis Prograis, Nonito Donaire, Donnie Nietes, Lee McGregor, Eimantas Stanionis, Arthur Biyarslanov, Noel Mikaelian, Taras Shelestyuk, Ricky Burns, Paul Butler, Lewis Ritson, Muhammad Waseem, O’Shaquie Foster, Hovhannes Bachkov, Darius Fulghum, Eduardo Hernandez, Mark Dickinson, Brandon Moore, Jack Bowen, Jason Mallia and Hebert Sousa.

Probellum held its first event at Dubai’s Coca-Cola Arena last month with a card featuring the likes of Sunny Edwards, Jayson Mama, Donnie Nietes, Bakhodir Jalolov and Jono Carroll, while legendary ring announcer Michael Buffer was master of ceremonies on the night.

“Will is a hugely talented fighter and we are very happy to welcome him to our stable,” added Richard Schaefer, President of Probellum.

“We believe 2022 is going to be a big year for Will, and we now look forward to watching him develop and showcase his unquestionable talent to boxing fans around the world.”

Regis Prograis On Why He Signed With Probellum: "It's A No-Brainer"

It was an offer Regis Prograis couldn’t refuse.

The former junior welterweight titleholder surprised some observers this past fall when he linked up with the new promotional outfit Probellum, which is headed by former Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer.

Prograis says the company enticed him to a contract after promising three things.

“First promise is that I’mma fight three times in a year,” Prograis said on the Boxing With Chris Mannix podcast. “That’s what I want to be. I want to be active. Of course, we’re still waiting on our first fight, but I definitely want to be active. The second thing is that I’mma fight all around the world, and that’s something I’ve always wanted. That’s one of the reasons why I took the fight [against Josh Taylor] in London because I wanted to do, though I shouldn’t have. I want to fight all over the world. I want to be a world champion. My heroes were Sugar Ray Robinson, Muhammad Ali — they were world champions, not just in your own country. And [Probellum] told me I would probably fight for a world title.

“And, of course, that’s three things I want: become two-time world champion, fight all over the world, and stay active. Since you told me I can do all those three things, it’s a no-brainer.”

Prograis (26-1, 22 KOs), who is originally from New Orleans but lives and trains out of Houston, has seen his productivity dwindle ever since losing a unification bout to Josh Taylor in 2019 as part of the World Boxing Super Series. In 2020, he cut ties with longtime promoter Lou DiBella.

In 2020, the southpaw Prograis fought once, earning a third-round stoppage over Juan Heraldez on the Gervonta Davis-Leo Santa Cruz undercard, which was produced by Premier Boxing Champions. In 2021, he fought Ivan Redkach, stopping him in the sixth round on the Triller undercard of Jake Paul-Ben Askren.

Prograis says one of the clauses in the Probellum contract will allow to engage in a big fight on another platform.

“That’s one of the things in the contract,” Prograis said. “If a big fight presents itself then I can go ahead and do that. Hopefully they can keep the promise of me being a world champion.

“Once I’m a world champion again, then I can kind of dictate, I can kind of control things. There won’t be too much politics. But I don’t have that power as much, since I don’t have a world champion.”

Ali was born Cassius Clay, muslim convert as I'm sure you know.

If I was to type in Muhammed on boxrec Im sure there be hundreds if not thousands of fighters past and present with that first name at a low level

However there's probably been zero fighters that were born with the nane Muhammed that became world champion. I can't think of any.

Muhammad Waseem had a world title shot.

He’s known on here by the fanatics.

Lost that fight though.
