When you're getting knocked down and wobbled that frequently it's not a stretch to imagine the Rahman sledge hammer that felled Lewis doing the same to you.

Virtually all the arguments for Fury's greatness I notice hang on the fact he hasn't lost or been KOd. His career is in progress! Let's see how it goes.
What on earth makes you stick to the idea of Rahman possessing some super special 'sledge hammer' and hitting harder than Wilder?
You don't have to hit harder than Wilder exactly to beat Fury. It'd help a lot if you'd connect significantly more than Wilder though
didnt we have this debate before gill heavy weights 80s 90s v 2000s 2010+ and you won

There's plenty names that could be on there.... look at AJs record, it's a who's who of the top 10.

lol, knocking aj's opposition while puffing fury is just silly, at least aj actually consistently fights ranked challengers and contenders like a true champ does, unlike mr. get a good win and then disappear (1 actual title defense entire career lol)

even aj's weaker opponents here werent that bad. the wilder huggers and anti-aj crew were actually trying to hype wilder, after 12 years pro and 40 fights, beating a guy aj easily stopped 2.5 years into his career. ppl joked about aj's win over martin, yet martin put boogeyman luis ortiz on his ass multiple times and easily stopped a typical wilder level challenger in washington

usyk
wlad
pulev
ruiz x2
parker
povetkin
whyte
takam
martin
brezeale

again, fury is really good when he gets up for it, but how about acting like a champ and regularly defending your belt vs good challengers? he just doesnt seem to have the discipline, seems like his fans deep down often lack confidence in him too, meekly calling for him to retire or for top challengers to not get shots

Besides the point. Perhaps he should have stuck to the likes of Tom Schwarz and he'd have lost 0.

Fury calling out the UFC Heavyweight again I see, unless he's trying to force Whyte's hand then it's more pathetic behaviour from the lineal champ and biggest hypocrite in boxing

exactly, shows how fury fans look at it. theyd rather see him keep his 0 vs tommy schwarz's than have him take on bigger risks. now that he's beaten wilder and they can breath again, that's prob why so many called for him to retire or against him defending against the best guys still out there.

better stay unbeaten for sure by not fighting at all than take on the likes of usyk, josh, whyte etc.......plus they can always claim wins by proxy and hypothetical over those guys

is there a bigger risk in the whole of boxing than deontay wilder ? yes a lot of boxers at heavyweight will be winning against him but doesn't mean they'll win and only takes that right hand once to find the target

a bigger risk than occasionally fighting wilder over and over and over is consistently fighting a range of good opponents. lennox lewis beat evander holyfield but lost to hasim rahman. but how does that happen if len had already beaten better opponents than rock? even just consider the fact that otter wallin was closer to beating fury than wlad klit was.

when you consistently fight at a high level it's often the one you don't expect. you need to have the discpline to keep putting up the results and that's part of being a real champion with obligations, rather than an imaginary one. does fury , mr. 1 title defense, not have that dedication i guess?

usyk, josh, whyte, joyce....there's plenty of good fights out there. this attitude that he's beaten wilder so why fight anyone now/he can't do any more is all wrong. wilder isnt even the #2 heavyweight (well to fury fans he sure is lol)

buy it's not fury's fault he's had to fight wilder 3 times , obviously the rematch had to happen and aj and fury had agreed their fight until the arbitration ruled for the 3rd fight add covid into that hasn't been the easiest time to organise world heavyweight title contests i do agree there is some good heavyweight contests for fury and i do think it's down to him NOW to fight them for his legacy

I hadn't thought of it that way. That is bad given his proclamations. Wlad at the dead end of his career too (same for Josh, of course).

THEBUTCH wrote: 28 Dec 2021, 12:37 As a world champion Fury's reign is far too sporadic to he considered highly despite the two standout wins over Vlad & Wilder.

I'd rate him higher than Bowe for sure. Holyfield...great win, then Dokes & Ferguson...deplorable.

It's all opinion but a world champion IMO must defend as often as possible and show they can deal with the pressure that being the world champion brings...Mike Tyson, Lennox Lewis, Vladimir Klitschko and Anthony Joshua to a lesser extent. Fury has failed, despite remaining unbeaten.

Defending against Whyte is the first place to start in trying to achieve credibility, but he has some way to go before he could be given real kudos as a world champion.

For those who spout off that Fury's shit, best not to waste your precious time trying to persuade them otherwise, but to those who rate Fury as some kind of modern great...he really needs a string of successful defences over the likes of Whyte, Usk, Joshua and maybe a Joyce, Yoka or that new kid (Jared Anderson) on the block in the USA and another top contender to put a seal on things.

Unfortunately, Fury has long since been more enthusiastic about "telling" everyone who he will beat and verbally degrading the other contenders than do what a real world champion does and prove it.
Interesting. Personally I don't value wins over woeful Wilder and ancient chinny Klitschko enough to place Fury above Bowe, who knocked off a prime, undefeated all-time great in Holyfield.

I would heavily favour Bowe to chin Fury h2h.

The 90s was so stacked it was near impossible to reign for long. Can anyone envision Wilder racking up 10 defences of anything in the 90s? Can anyone envision Joshua becoming champ back then? Fury is king of a dung hill.
Wilder hasn't been facing the best as champion though. There are plenty of dangerous opponents he failed to fight. i don't see how his title defenses are an indictment of the era given he has largely steered clear of good opponents.

What he did would basically be the 1990s equivalent of beating Tony Tubbs, and a faded Greg Page and then losing to Henry Akinwande while ducking Lewis, Holyfield, Bowe, etc.
