Make A Tactical Case For Whyte To Beat Fury.
Make A Tactical Case For Whyte To Beat Fury.
I think I underrate Dillian Whyte, because I really don't rate him and I never really have. On the other hand, I look at his record and he must be doing something right, because he's beaten Parker, Chisora, Helenius, Rivas and an ancient Povetkin. When I look at the Fury-Whyte fight, I see it as a complete mismatch and I really don't see Whyte winning it.
So........ I put it to you good BoxRec members and fellow boxing aficionados. Tactically, how can Whyte win this fight. Please don't use words like 'lucky punch' or 'Fury has too many pies'. This thread is about what Whyte can do, not what Fury might not do. It would be interesting to see if any of the Fury diehards have anything constructive to say on the matter.
Gents, the floor is yours, who's first?

Re: Make A Tactical Case For Whyte To Beat Fury.
The only way whyte beats fury is a lucky punch, or if Fury has had to many pies.
Re: Make A Tactical Case For Whyte To Beat Fury.
No Whyte born from his mother can beat the Gypsy King, unless he lands a lucky punch on Fury, who had too many pies.
Re: Make A Tactical Case For Whyte To Beat Fury.
i think he's gona have to drag him into a dog fight and make an ugly night of target the body it won't be a pretty watch if he can get knockdowns like wilder did and get some extra rounds that way , he's not going to outbox fury so i think he needs to stop fury target the eyes and hope for cuts , i do believe both men could knock the other out late in though

Re: Make A Tactical Case For Whyte To Beat Fury.
I think I rate Whyte more than most seemingly do on here. I think he’s a good all round fighter and I was impressed with him against Povetkin in their first fight until he got blasted out for 5 mins(or was rising at the count of 9 before the ref waived it off if you’re Eddie Hearn).
He’s got a good jab, solid power and a decent engine. Fury would be a big favourite and I think he’d win but he was sloppy in his last fight and looks like he’s a few stone heavier now than he was then based on the video of him body sparring Joseph Parker. If it was the Tyson who fought Wlad then it would be a beatdown I think but the Tyson Fury of today - who knows.

Re: Make A Tactical Case For Whyte To Beat Fury.
Best argument is not so much identifying what Whyte can do, but what Fury appears not able to do.
Fury against Wilder3 could not move as well as he did when beating Chisora/Wlad/Wilder1 ..
Fury can't take a world class punch without hitting the deck ..
Fury against Wilder3 couldn't avoid telegraphed punches ..

Re: Make A Tactical Case For Whyte To Beat Fury.
Fury is the best HW out there right now. But nobody knows how he will turn up on the night. Whyte is a good contender and would have been in any era. If Fury is not on his game Whyte will win.
Re: Make A Tactical Case For Whyte To Beat Fury.
Well he could get a lucky swing in like the punch that had Joshua wobbly but a fully focussed Fury would see it coming.

Re: Make A Tactical Case For Whyte To Beat Fury.
tyson has more tools and can win it handily coming in prepared. but that's the whole issue of mr 1 defense actually being a dedicated champ -- will he?
because if he's not, absolutely it can become another slop fest with whyte working hard and giving him plenty of problems. otter hurt fury, whyte can too. jab in and be rough, constantly work even in clinches, go to the flabby body regularly. smother him so he cant use his length as much and literally push him back if you need to. make it a fight that tests someones conditioning and dedication
and aim for where wallin made a giant gaping pussy on his eye, fury fans actually got a little turned on there i think

I don't count out Whyte, he has a decent left hook, and hasn't got a bad jab. He can also slug it out and get rough if need be. and that is probably the one area he can match Fury. He hits harder than Fury too,
However he is clumsy and has been down and out a few times now.
To me its more what has Fury got left, he looked poor in the wilder 3 fight, and it took him far too long to take Wilder out, who was struggling to even stand straight for a number rounds. I'm not convinced he'd get away with that kind of performance against Whyte - Whyte simply isn't going to be as useless as Wilder was.
I hope the fight happens, it'll be a good event.

How does he hit harder when Fury has fought at the higher level and has more inside the distance wins?Twinkle Toes wrote: ↑18 Jan 2022, 12:59 I don't count out Whyte, he has a decent left hook, and hasn't got a bad jab. Can I ask you a genuine question.... Do you ever get sick of defending Fury's honor in virtually every post?mickey1975 wrote: ↑18 Jan 2022, 13:11How does he hit harder when Fury has fought at the higher level and has more inside the distance wins?Twinkle Toes wrote: ↑18 Jan 2022, 12:59 I don't count out Whyte, he has a decent left hook, and hasn't got a bad jab. Quite a lot of what you post is opinion, like your comment that Fwank's stable is better than Eddie's. That isn't a fact, it's an opinion.mickey1975 wrote: ↑18 Jan 2022, 13:25I only state facts. Re: Make A Tactical Case For Whyte To Beat Fury.
Whyte will have to bring sustained pressure and play fury at his game of wrestling and shoving , he is strong enough to do it unlike wilder .
He has a vicious left hook so this could be the decider .
I would expect him to drop TF but also maybe get clocked himself who knows .
If this fight happens it will be testing for Fury and I reckon they dont really want it hence the stance on 80 / 20 and wbc farting about with this hearing .

Re: Make A Tactical Case For Whyte To Beat Fury.
Never liked whyte, but he goes to the body well and is a brute strength guy, so the matchup could actually be interesting.
I think his best tactic is going to the body and letting Fury engage in that holding hugging game. If he can do that without taking too much punishment, he might be able to wear down Tyson and take him out by late round stoppage.
Don't give him much chance though.

if whyte and fury had fought the same people whyte would have a higher ko percentage whyte definitely hits harder than fury , did you think that before the wilder fights fury was a big puncher ?

No, I knew he was. Boxing News had him down as an unbelievable puncher in the early days. His style changed which didn't suit a puncher. He's sitting down on his shots again now.
Ps Tyson is a better in fighter and body puncher than Whyte. It's part of his game massively overlooked.
