Oh I think he was. His birth records are sketchy. I'll bet he was around five years older than what's on his record.

Sketchy doesn't mean they are off by a lot.
The 1930 census has his family but no Sonny or Charles. The 1940 census has Charles and listed as 10 years old.
But that's just an official government record.
His mother had a lot of kids but it's not like he was one of the middle kids he was the second youngest.
Mommy said she squirted him out in 1930 to 1932. There is a good chance Mommy memory can get within a year or two of when the kid fell out.
It's kind of consistent, ask most women when the kids showed up and they'll know until old age sets in.
Sonny himself said 1932, so he's not that far off Mommy.
Census record tells us he wasn't that old, the woman that passed him through her womb said he wasn't that old...
